    This is not an '82. Honda first introduced the CB650SC as a '83 model and kept it in the U.S. lineup until '86. The '82 and prior model Nighthawks lacked this model's shaft drive, DOHC, four-valve heads, hydraulic valve tensioners, TRAC anti-dive w/air adjustable forks and digital gear-position indicator (plus other changes). Mine only had ~ 6k miles when I purchased her from the original owner, but I added another 23k+ miles over the next 4 years. Never experienced any significant problems it after I cleaned and adjusted the carburetors. I owned my midnight blue '83 model for about four years back in the early 90's. Sold her to a neighbor in '95 after purchasing my '94 Honda ST1100. He still owns her but has ridden her rarely in the 26 years since I believe she still only has a little more than 30k miles and I've been tempted to re-purchase her or restoration,. However I already have too many toys (cars, boats and motorcycles) to take care of and don't have much time for projects. Also, about six months ago the neighbor moved her from inside his garage to outside under the eaves in front of the folding doors where she has only been partially protected from the effects of the sun's rays and weather ever since. What a crying shame....

    Take one look at the dash and it just screams 1980's with the orange needles on the grid backdrop. Love these bikes!

    Had an 85 CB650SC too. This was a real smooth bike. Loved the hydraulic valves and shaft drive. Virtually maintenance free. And they are really quick bikes too.

    My dad had an 83 650 Nighthawk. Great bike. I can still remember how that bike smelled when he brought it home new.

    Bought mine in 1993, ran it 100,120 miles. Finally had to retire it from daily rideing in 2012 when the #3 cylinder started loosing compression and the transmission lost 5th gear. I got the transmission fixed, but new parts are drying up and even used parts are hard to find, so I only ride it to vintage bike shows or whenever I feel nostalgic. Even with that weak cylinder, it runs like a champ.

    Thanks for making the video, hearing the sound of the engine is a real plus for a potential buyer. I owned a 1985 CB650SC Nighthawk, purchased new from the local dealer. The one for sale here is in very good condition, however, the cam chain does sound like there is an issue, very evident at low RPM. The cam chain tensioner most likely needs to be replaced before something worse happens internally. Any potential buyer should be aware of that generation (1983-1985) of 650 Nighthawks are known to have cam chain tensioner issues. Otherwise it's in really good condition for a 34 year old model, it appears to have been taken care of over its life. I personally prefer the look of the OEM seat, hand grips, and turn signals as well, but those are not difficult items to swap out for OEM parts. All that said, for the right price it should sell.

    My dads favorite bike. He said it was fast and he wasnt joking by the looks of it. He is nowhere close to tacking it out and he is zooming along pretty good.

    Great llittle bike. I had one when I started riding in the early 2000's. REsotred it to pristine condition. Added an aftermarket exhaust. Great on the low end but it pooped out around 80 mph on the freeway.

    I looked at one of these yesterday. The clutch pull looked somewhat bent out without any sign of dropping. The owner wants to bend it to match the brake pull on the right. But when the clutch lever shows on any video, it looks like they all have that slight difference. What’s up?

    These nighthawks 83' on are getting very expensive because they are so reliable. People are collecting them. in Utah they are getting $3-4k now.

    There's one for sale where i live for about 2.2k euro.
    And i am so tempted to just go and get it but i am doubtful, how good would this bike be for a large rider who'd be cruising around town and every now and then on the "Big" roads?
    Im 6ft1 and weigh 130kg.

    • @ocd2222
      @ocd2222 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      same height, but 100kg. has plenty of power in the city, on the highway wind becomes an issue. it can easily accompany 130kg with that big seat and comfortable suspension

    I've had one of these since it was almost new in this same beautiful blue pearlescent color. It's still bone stock and looks like a million bucks after 38 years on the road. If you take care of a Honda, it'll last you a lifetime.

    '85 650 Nighthawk was my first street bike. The inline fours of the 80s & 90s are far too maligned. Looking at a 450 Nighthawk as my next city ripper.
