My vote would be for Godzilla/tokusatsu films. Lots of fun to be had as the German posters often renamed Godzilla as “Frankenstein” and the Thai poster have some of the most bizarre “English” tag lines I’v seen.

The "La Fiancee du Vampire" that you showed the poster to was not the film you describe, but actually the French dub of "House of Dark Shadows," the first feature film sequel to the Gothic TV series "Dark Shadows." I instantly recognized it from the image of the beautiful actress Nancy Barrett, who appeared in the series and the two sequel films. IIRC, is was Dark Shadows that originated the trope of "Vampire falls in love with woman who looks just like his old love" that has become so standard since the 1960s.
My favourite variant of the Coppola Dracula poster is actually the teaser of the snarling gargoyle face half shaded in darkness with the single word 'Beware'. Another spectacular video!
Great video. The most interesting part was how Robin changed over time. BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE is a film worthy of review for DARK CORNERS. The back story of what happened to the film's Producer and Director is more interesting then the movie. There are two versions of this movie floating around out there; one with a werewolf and one without.

When are you going to review Count Yorga Vampire and it's sequel ? It was a big hit at the time and convinced Hammer to bring their Dracula franchise into the 20th century.

You're bringing 2 of my favorite things together, horror and art. :D I have to ask: Why do you dislike Dracula Untold so much? Understanding, it has little to do with the source material but I thought it was an entertaining film. It's a big budget, effects driven vampire movie and nothing more. I feel like you're holding this film to standards it was never intended to meet.
I don't know if Dracula looking like Batman makes him look unfittingly heroic. As comic writer Denny O'Neill said, what's interesting about Batman is that his image is essentially vampiric. He looks dark, scary, even evil. It's this in contrast with his heroic mission that makes him interesting. And of course he was inspired by the similarly sinister Shadow who came before him.

Of all the omissions to this SPLENDID retrospective, I'm really surprised at two of them: * Nosferatu , The Vampyre by Werner Herzog has GOT to have one of the most beautiful posters since the original Nosferatu. * Dracula (1979) was the biggest budget MOST mainstream since Bella Lugosi .With a budget over 12 Million dollars, a HUGE mainstream marketing campaign, getting made after a Tony nominated Broadway run of the play - with stars like Sir Laurence Olivier, Frank Langella & Donald Pleasence. I LOVE Hammer, but "Horror of Dracula" was NOT this big, only surpassed when Hollywood was out to double down on EVERYTHING - when they made Coppola's for example. Their absence is a loud statement. - BONUS FEEDBACK!!!- Dracula Untold was a deliberate attempt to make a superhero movie disguised as existing IP, so the poster is really great at appealing to that crowd, and it was the later entry The Mummy that put the nail in the Universal Dark Universe's Coffin.
Bonus points if you did the Spanish version of Todd Browning's Dracula. I can't remember the poster to that, just a videobox. . . but it *musta* been cool.
Dark Corners. La Fiancée Du Vampire is a French poster for the American Film, “House of Dark Shadows” a 1970 film starring Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins. The film is directed by Dan Curtis. I believe you may have confused the poster with director Jean Rollin’s film, “La Fiancée Du Dracula.” Having that said, I follow you and really enjoy your reviews. Great work always. I saw "Horror of Dracula" at the theatre in '58. I was 6yrs old and hadn't seen the original "Dracula" on Chiller Theatre" aired every Fri night. When I finally saw the Universal original I was a little disappointed. Christopher Lee had out done Lugosi. Still like Lugosi and the movie. But I had been spoiled. Good thing the the movie had Dwight Fry.
Interesting how, in the first poster, the hair makes way for seeming horns, while those same shapes help define a widow's peak. The former suggests a demonic being while the latter is a signature feature of our titular vampire.
Do you think you would like "bram stokers Dracula" if it didn't have the authors name in the title? Because I really love the originality and aesthetic.
I love the DC review of the Coppola thing. I agree totally that the film isn't all that bad, even though it's as over the top as a Christmas panto, but it's the title that sticks in my craw. Just call it Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula (based on the novel by Bram Stoker) and it's no worse than lots of other adaptations. Given the choice, however, I would watch the Jess Franco Dracula instead; it may be kind of dull, but Christopher Lee LOOKS like Dracula and doesn't suffer from terminal angst.
I have a VHS from Rhino Home Video called "Dracula: A Cinematic Scrapbook," a collection of trailers, commercials, and assorted trivia. Some of the adverts are better than the films they advertise.
My favorite Dracula films are the ones with Christopher Lee (no surprise there!), plus the Louis Jourdan (BBC) and Frank Langella versions. I am tempted to watch Dracula's Fiancee just to find out why the poster features Nancy Barrett from House of Dark Shadows, but baby eating ogres are rather off putting. I should watch Dracula's Daughter again.
I remember a Dracula movie I watched in the cinema in the early 80's that isn't on your list. It depicted a romantic handsome, seductive vampire, with romantic, seductive dancing scenes. I'm sure it was an american movie.

Thinking of Dracula related titles, Stoker's novel must be the famous book with the most adaptations and spin-offs named after secondary characters. I can think of: 'Jonathan" (1970), 'Van Helsing', both the 2004 movie and the streaming series and 'Renfield', both the 2010 obscurity and the upcoming Nicolas Cage movie.

Was Brides of Dracula the first use of "dracula" as a common noun as opposed to a proper noun? As in "Many tourists avoid Transylvania for fear of being chased by draculas." Another good subject for a series like this might be movie trailers. It's always interesting to see how these movies were originally sold.
Fracchia vs Dracula was made by a famous and important italian actor, Paolo Villaggio. Fracchia is a sort of alter-ego of another Villaggio's character, Ugo Fantozzi, but I don't know if you can find some of his movies dubbed in english.
Sir Christopher Lee alone makes him almost overshadow Lugosi. The Spanish version starring Lee and Kinski (who played Dracula in Phantom Der Nacht 1979) is probably the most faithful to the story.

And I'm a little bit disappointed that you forgot NOSFERATU (1979) which also had a most beautyful poster (done as far as I know by great French artist Roland Topor who also played Renfield in the film).
To be fair to Dracula vs Billie the Kid, Dracula in the book does get stabbed to death by a cowboy....so Wild West Outlaw sort of /is/ his natural enemy
