I don't sew, but really enjoyed this tune up. What a remarkable mechanical device. Thanks.

So you didn’t show “what” to adjust for the needle bar height? I only got what screw to loosen. How or where do you make the “raise or lower” adjustments? thank you.

My apologies. You loosen the screw slightly, and grab hold of the needle bar itself (the part that you insert the needle into). Raise or lower the needle bar until the hook passes 1/16" above the eye of the needle. Thanks.

Thank you so much for this video. You have been very helpful. I am new to sewing and I ran into timing issues on my 226. I also wanted to add that if you need a 3/32" spacer I found that the bobbin cover is exactly 3/32".

Do you have any videos with the thread tensioner removal / check/ replace and dialed in? I recently purchased a second hand 226 (Japan model). My bottom stitch is showing the knotts. I am sure that I have tweeked something out of phase on the pressure plate. The thread felt too hard to pull away, after I ran a seam. I attempted to reduce the upper spring plate pressure. I may need to replace or clean the plates. My sync or timing belt looks original ( has cracks and ordered new one). Be nice to watch a video on how to replace that as well. Thank you

I don't think I've ever filmed the removal of an upper tension assembly. It's pretty easy to do though, and comes out as a unit. Test its operation by observing the discs that the thread pass through. They should feel loose with the presser foot lifted, and firm with the presser foot lowered. If that's not the case, you may want to replace the tension assembly. Luckily it's easy to source and quite inexpensive. Thanks.

Thank you. I purchased my first industrial walking foot about 4 months ago. The Consew 226 I bought was second hand. It looked to be in decent shape at the time of purchase. I didn’t know what to look for really. other than appearance. I have been using your videos to educate myself on this machine. I find that you get straight to the point, the audio is clear, the camera shot is decent and easy to follow. You seem well knowledgeable regarding the Consew 226.
The problem I was having is the walking foot was cocked to the left a hair. It was driving me nuts ! It was contributing to the wavy stitch I kept making. For Sure!! I ended up adjusting too much. conscientiously I was trying to avoid too many screw adjustments. Then end up with additional issues. I also had to remove the timing belt. This must have been the original one from the manufacturer. it was leaving cracks of plastic around the entire machine. I couldn’t find any videos on Changing the Timing Belt for 226’s. I figured it and now I am watching this video to insure the hook timing is set. I also aligned the “two arrows” on the Hook driving shaft. I would think that the after aligning the two arrows, the timing should be good? thanks again.

@@johnmclaughlin3466 The arrows align the upper and lower shafts, but not necessarily the hook timing. You'll still want to take a look to make sure the hook timing is ok. Thanks!

On my machine, the curved bar next to the hook wedges the hook when it turns, how do I fixs this? Thanks in advance

If you mean the bobbin case opener, just loosen the screw, and slide it to the left slightly. It should tap the bobbin case to allow thread to pass, but not bind the hook assembly. Thanks and good luck!
