Is it just me or are the inside receivers way too close to the tackles? Case in point @9:13. That OLB can either drop or blitz without having to show his hand before the snap. It makes it impossible to tell where a blitz is coming from or how many guys are actually going to be in the box if you want to run. Move those WRs out wide and make the defense go out there to cover them. Would open up more running room as well.
Why depth on the DL is so important. It's a lot easier to get a hat on a hat of a tired DL...that showed up big time in this game. Thanks for the great insight Matt.
Right. Pitiful blocking allllll night long. They got exposed badly. There should be no excuses because they all started or played last year. This is on the O-line coach who is an "OLE MISS ALUMNI." 🤔🙄😒
I enjoyed this review and analysis. A few things. I didn’t watch the game so with this analysis I would have appreciated some explanation on why those long third downs. I heard 16 penalties? Geez, how can any team win with stats like that? I’ll give it to Snell though, kid can run.
Many folks forget that first year coaches always take some lumps. That's the nature of the SEC. Look at Smart's first season at Georgia. Then they were ranked #1 in his second year. It takes going through at least a season as an SEC head coach to really learn how to do the job. There is no substitute.
Now that I think on it, Stoops is a great example of why SEC schools should be a little more lenient on firing coaches. Some of these programs are in a mess, and it takes time to recreate a winning culture. Changing coaches very three or four years only ensures things won't get better. Sometimes coaches have to be fired, but don't be so quick on the trigger.

So our weakness is as we have known for a while, the o line. Mullen never recruited linemen and it has caught up with us.
