I've never seasoned any grill I've owned. But, I'm having a new grill delivered today from Home Depot, and after watching your vid I'm going to do it this time. Thanks for the simple guidance. 😊 Plus, after battling leukemia for five years and getting two stem cell transplants, the last thing I want is to die from a damned grill!! 🤣😎
Hey dude! That works! I am now, the master of my universe.... Thank you for this video. Almost all the other video's showing how to make your grill nonstick are showing you on an old well used grate in an old grill and I'm pretty sure they are most likely almost nonstick already. Your video is showing us on a brand new grill and who else shows us to oil both sides of the grate? Who else shows us how it looks before we start and how it looks when it's complete? So I'm retired and I'm not a good cook and I really want to get good at BBQ. I have used hand me down Propane and a charcoal Weber with not so great success. I got talked into a brand new Natural Gas grill because there is was a N.G. fitting all ready in place and only needing an island and a grill so I did that. So I oiled up the grates and started to bbq. Pretty much everything was sticking to the grate. So I watched many TY video's, including your instructions, and decided to try your procedure because you showed a brand new grill. I cleaned my grates extensively to look like new again and starting fresh, followed your directions including oiling up the inside surface of the hood. I cooked a steak first and I would test the non stick by pushing the steak back and forth on the grate and it never stuck. Now, the food I cook does not stick. Really amazing. I am wondering if I have to do this once a year or once a month or should I never do it unless the food starts to stick? Also, how clean should I make the grates after each time I cook? Before watching this video I was keeping the grates looking brand new with a coarse Stainless Steel scouring pad getting every last bit of food and cooked on sauce off and then I would wipe down with vegetable oil on a paper towel. THANK YOU AGAIN! Thumbs up to you as well. I'm going to check, watch and see what other video's you put out also.
We just purchased a gas grill and after watching your video, I intend to apply your techniques to burn off the residue and season the grill. I will become the master of my domain! Oh wait, that was a Seinfeld term for something entirely different….
Haaaahaaaa, education mixed with comedy, great combo. Thanks for the info and the descriptive pictures. Haahaa . Please make more videos...have a great day
Great video, I enjoyed it. But I was thinking 30 minutes is a lot of wasted propane. I see in the Brian Donnelly comments below some others agree. Just trying to save people some money- propane is expensive! Anyhow I think15 minutes with all burners on would pretty much bring it up to a temperature you need to "season" it. Thanks for the vid!
Ps I actually just assembled a Nexgrill from home depot and was surprised I stumbled on a video with that model, even though mine is just the stainless grill case with black shelves and front. (same stuff inside) LOL!

Got the same exact grill as you. But my igniter button isn’t working. Tried changing the battery. Do you let the grids cool off before oiling and heating again for the second 30 minutes? The video doesn’t make that clear and you’re handling everything with bare hands. Thanks.
I did this to the cover of my brand new grill and it looks bad will it come off eventually ? ... it does not look like yours and I did everything you explained step by step
@@ACOGLMT556 whats normal? Mine turned more brown then his in the video. My brother is going to kill me because it doesn't look brand new any more with the brown inside of the cover.
Burn it once on the highest, lid can be closed. So everything turns into charcoal. Then clean it with soap, water and a sponge. Can also be the rough side. Then do the patina process with oil and burn in
the grill grates usually have a rounded part and a flat part. the rounded part up and the flat part down looking at the charcoal. if they are both flat is up to you what looks best, at the end won't make big difference.
I just did my brand new grates with Olive oil, too. Fingers crossed...wishing us luck! BTW, this guy sounded humorous, but I think he went a little OVERKILL burning on the oil at HIGH...for THIRTY MINUTES! (I would have said MEDIUM for TEN minutes, which, coincidentally, is what Broil King says on their seasoning video. (And THEY probably make 100,000 grills a year or more! Thoughts?
when grease and debris falls at the bottom its easier to clean and it also does not avoid the grease to keep flowing to the grease catch container. so its a two for one.
This was not only helpful, but hilarious

Great content man. Love the sense of humor and very informative. Thanks!

Great video! I have a question: during the seasoning procedure is there a temperature limit related to the high smoke point of the oil used?
Hey Boss Man, Just purchased an awesome Monument 4 burner grill and I'm about to follow your steps for seasoning. Thanks!
Awesome! !😊👍❤
Thanks for sharing the video & hi from New Zealand
Hello there!👍❤😊💪
After you turn on the burners for 30 min, do you let it completely cool before adding the canola oil?
Great tip man 👍 here’s your well deserved like.
Much appreciated!❤😊👍

thanks! yeah! 15-30 or anything in between, would be good enough.💪👍😊❤
Afte the first burn do we have to wait 30 mins to place oil on grill and then burn 15-30 mins? Or can we go straight to seasoning

After the seasoning, why a part of the grate looks like rusty?
Do I still want to do all of this for a stainless steel grate? Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video! Why do you have aluminum foil on top of the drip pan?
Welcome 😊👍 makes for easier clean up
Love your videos bro lol so funny yet super helpful !!

You’re hilarious brother 😂😂😂😂
Why do you oil the inside hood of the stove? Good video by the way, thank you
Thank you so much for the video. I didn't know how to season, but I followed all the steps and it turned out amazing.
Great to hear!👍😊

Very funny and informative! Great instruction!
All i have in the Kitchenen is Vegetable oil, that will work just a good?
Yes it will😊👍
..."the last thing you want on a clear, sunny day is to die from chemicals." Lol
😂🤣
Just turn the grill on high for 10 minutes and burn it off😉
Exactly what I done , I am presently fine 👌🏼👍🏻
Yeah, 30 minutes on high seems a bit much.
For both steps or 1? I know he said to let it burn for 30 minutes before and after.
What a waste of gas, and just lazy.
Yeah that does seem like a good waste of gas. The canola oil on the grates is a good idea. I'm going to try that.
Great vid - thanks. Is that foil you put on the burner pates? if so why?
For already used grills, should you oil the grill itself each time before cooking on it, in order to prevent the food from sticking?
Burn it once on the highest, lid can be closed. So everything turns into charcoal. Then clean it with soap, water and a sponge. Can also be the rough side. Then do the patina process with oil and burn in

Thanks Buddy... Now, I am the King of our Grill.... Unless my Wife says otherwise!!

Thank you master Kenobi 💪
I wonder why you season the inside of the lid? Thanks. :)
to avoid future rust is the main reason of seasoning everything that is metal. thanks for the comment.👍😊
Bruhhh laughed so hard. Thanks for this video!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Fab video! Love how you've worded it. I'm officially the master of the universe :)
Thanks! Excellent video.
You are welcome! thank you
This is great, but what about all the oil that has dripped on to everything below?
we usually place aluminum foil at the drip tray, to make cleaning a lot easier, but usually the heat will dry it up.
The instruction manual for my Weber grill instructed not to do this... so I am confused
Did u add aluminum foil to the bottom as well??
we do to make the cleaning process a lot easier. it catches the drippings
Woah ! You grabbed those hawt hotdog skewers with bare hands !!
years of training!! 😉
So I think I messed up my grill cover is all dark and brown is that normal?
You're hilarious! Nice vid, man, thank you fellow Master of the Universe! Here comes the paparazzi, haha!
Glad you enjoyed it!👍😊😂
Both Informative and Entertaining 😂
Missed an instruction after initial heating how long do you wait before coating grills with oil?
Until it cools off
Your grates are going to be clean and shiny. Opens lid and they're brown.🤣
Have you put foil at the bottom?
we usually place foil on the drip tray at the bottom.👍❤😊
That was great, thanks!
Thank you!
Is canola oil still an option?!?
Yes
My coleman grill came with 6 grates: 3 shiny black shiny and 3 cast iron grates. Which grates go on the bottom? I'm confused.
Is it gas or does it also double as a smoker? Shiny would probably be for the food.
I followed this video but when I opened the lid the inside is covered in brown stains what looks like burnt vegetable oil. What have I done wrong?
After following the instructions, the inside lid is now a copper color. Why is that? How can I now fix this issue?
Excelent tip! Thanks
Great tips for seasoning the BBQ . Can I do ti with Olive Oil ,please ?
no
It's better to use vegetable oil or any oil with a higher smoke point
After doing this.. the inside of my lid is now a copper color.. why is that? what did I do wrong?
Your grill is so clean, meaning, you do not use it enough.
😂😂😂😂😂😂awesome video thank you
Thanks for nothing! Now my new stainless grates have a ridiculous yellow hue stuck on them from the canola oil! Any suggestions???
Bro, I wish I would have watched this first. I just died on a clear sunny day.
😂🤣
Which way should my grills be facing
the grill grates usually have a rounded part and a flat part. the rounded part up and the flat part down looking at the charcoal. if they are both flat is up to you what looks best, at the end won't make big difference.
I did this exact same thing today but used Olive Oil.
I wanted to see if anyone else does this other than me. 🤭
I just did my brand new grates with Olive oil, too. Fingers crossed...wishing us luck!

Good oil but it has a low burning point
Apply oil before you heat it up ?
After the first burn off but before the 2nd, so yes.
THUMBS UP
Lol hilarious thanks for the info
Thanks 👍😊
I think your grates are facing the wrong way.I have heard that the flat side should be facing up for more cooking surface touching your meat.
whats hte point of tin foil on the bottom though?
when grease and debris falls at the bottom its easier to clean and it also does not avoid the grease to keep flowing to the grease catch container. so its a two for one.
Cleaning the grates and leaving the lid out 😂
