- This video is on a pair of boots I’ve been looking for many years being such a huge gain of mountain troops and hiking and skiing in general. This is a pair of Austrian m59 super over engineered mountain boots that are a few generations out of date but are amazingly versatile boots. These are made from rugged construction and some unbelievably stiff and thick leather. The soles on these are very heavy and thick with multiple forms of attachment. The eyelets on these boots are very no thrills types of hooks. Hopefully you liked this video and subscribed if you like this sort of stuff. Please keep comments on topic. Please leave a comment with any questions, additional information, user experiences, or suggestions for future videos and I will do my best to answer them. As always thanks for watching.
Thank you,
Devin k.
Ah, the Austrian '2er Bock' boots. I had a pair of them. The quality and craftsmanship was phenomenal! They didn't fit me and that was because I took the wrong width. And they're heavy! At size 44 (US 11) they weighed more than a kg (2.2 lbs) per single boot. Still, it took years of convincing myself to part with them. They're that good. :D
I just ordered two pair! Looking forward to trying them out.
Funny, was recently looking to get one of these. Thanks for the informative video.
new to your channel and i love it. awesome vids. Especially your field packs
Andres Alvarado I appreciate it
a funny thing on my recommendation alone my older brother a boot loving madman just got his pair from swiss link out on the left coast for a total of 56'$ and he is 1' happy camper and although i had only seen a photo of the boots , now after viewing you're video i will most likely buy a pair just from the little ive seen it makes it easier for me to purchase
Can you make a video about the " lightweight" version of these boots, those thing get really popular lately
Повезло!...новые ботинки...сейчас такого качества не делают...
got them last year :D
I’ve had a pair of these boots for about 5 years my god there hard to wear in
Hi Devin... do you own, or have an opinion on the lighter Austrian Ranger Boot .. I have these M59's, and the BW fallschirmjäger, but keen on the Austrian Ranger as a final aquisition! Your collection is truly impressive
Syd Smith I do not have any experience with the Austrian ranger boots they don’t make it to America much
@@DevinK Thank you. Great channel.
Doing anymore live streams with Mike B?
Todd B hopefully in the future it’s all about schedules lining up
Are these stitchdowns? I thought they were supposed to be proper goodyear welted
shurdi3 they are welted
How was Florida
James who needs to know rainy and boring
@@DevinK hey beats it here In Minnesota
James who needs to know I love winter
I found some of these online but I’m hesitant to buy because they don’t have those nails in the soles. Have you seen any like that?
Some don’t have the nails depends on when they were made
I have 3 pairs of these. The Innsbrucker Bergsohle Marwa version (1972) is fully nailed, the Kassner Semperit (1982) version only has nails on the top of the sole. Both versions are excellent.
Did the soles of your boots previously displayed damage the surface of your couch?
USA Ilove no why?
@@DevinK Becos you put many boots on the couch, I thought their soles will stain the leather or left dirt marks on it.
How many eyelets do these have? And where can I find them?
Ebay
It's funny that in the US you have to do your own taxes, in Europe it's all done for you behind the scenes.
Who told you this? Not true in UK for self employed people
hello do you know wich company made this boots ? Völkl, Holzer, Edelweiß , Steinkogler ? or some other one ?
Jean Laclove the only markings I can find on the boots are HBA and the size on the uppers and on the sole it says innsbrucker
@@DevinK i have a pair from 1985 and it's made by Steinkogler and is different of your pair .Same thick sole but no nails and 8 Eyelets 12 hooks.
Jean Laclove you have the heavy combat boot these are the mountain boots similar design these are just a little beefier for the mountain Troops because of the environment they fight in
@@DevinK ok thanks .Volkl and Steinkogler still make army boots. Here you can see the product made by Steinkogler
www.alpine-boots.com
Some of this boots are made by hands .i plan to visit them in austria this spring and maybe by some shoes
Do you know where I can buy these? I'm size 45
Unfortunately no they haven’t been made for a number of decades so stocks are gone
@@DevinK yeah it sucks, my last pair of these is falling apart near the front, the leather is degrading, im gonna need to buy a pair of builder-pro's from nick's, black of course. i might re-use the laces though rather than the leather ones that come with them, my calves are huge and i need some longer laces.
Should I apply Mink oil on it, or something different?
I got one small leather creak on it btw
It’s all personal preference and depends on how dry the leather is
Devin K. The leather is very dry, so what is your recommendation?
roscoe bi if it’s super dry light layers of vegetable oil until it starts to soften then switch to mink oil and make sure you give the leather a day or two to absorb the layers before applying the next one
@@DevinK Thank you
Where did u get them?
Otto I The Great i got these from mike at mikes’s militaria
@@DevinK they are out of stocks right now, sadly.I real want a pair, especially I leaving Canada, I go hunting and ice fishing in the winter.I do skiing too, It is the perfect boots I would expect, The later vision do not have the steel on the top for skiing.
