Yep, thats it. I used to really hate but really really hate Smarts but today I really like them after starting to drive my friends one in Austria and have driving it alone from Austria to Portugal (2275kms). Once a friend told me:" Hate the player, not the game". The reason for this hate was the way people drove these cars, the things they did with them. The places they parked their cars etc. Doing many things that is against the law.
One of the biggest problems are People who calls new Car enthusiast "RICERS" and laugh at them, instead of telling them some other/better options and showing them positive attitude, they get pushed away. I believe everyone started as a RICER, its what makes the progress so good and taste so sweet, knowing you started from zero knowledge making all the mistakes then you meet good people and then learn a lot to the point where you do stuff by yourself now.
I have a story. When I become 18 years old I want to buy an NA Mazda Miata. I went on Garage Amino, and I told people that I wanted a Miata. Some people were OK with that. But some told me that the Miata is Gay and that I should buy something else. Luckily I have gotten to know a guy who loves Miatas (he owns an NC) and we can talk all day about miatas, Miata mods and repairs

Well I've noticed with global things and small things in my house/family we pay more attention to bad then good but now to the point we don't see the good. Like I cleaned the entire house for my mum who went to work and came back disappointed I didn't get these small bread crumbs on the counter corner..small things like that make you realise that we are quite spoilt as a species, Constantly wanting more for the future but not thanking when comparing to the past.
Squier Player Ah yes they are, thousands of rusty mirages with the best stereo system, down to the ground scraping the floor, with evo 6 stickers all around them, I even saw monteros with evo 6 stickers, most old cars have all of the modifications listed above; However I have seen a lot of drag ready CRX’s and mirages, a lot of clean AE86 GTS’s, many good condition old wranglers and Suzuki 4x4, as well as evos and stis, and many muscle cars.

I don't know why, but I like almost every car brand and cars except for a few brands. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, Ford, GM, Dodge, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, Porsche, PSA and even Volvo are all great cars to me. But I just hate on brands like Range Rover, Jaguar, Maserati, Bentley and Rolls Royce. In my country, most people who buy those cars or claim "love those cars" literally don't know anything about cars and they just don't care.
Japan's car culture does it right. Everyone generally respects each other's tastes and understands that modding your car is just a way to express yourself.

I have an almost completely stock 1986 Nissan 300zx and not a single person has ever given me crap, one person wanted me to engine swap and add HP ect but I told him I was keeping it mostly stock, he didnt mind much. I feel as if older cars are harder to hate on.

Yeah I get hate on my mustang all the time but anytime someone hates on my mustang I just tell them you can hate all you want.. but I honestly respect all cars in general, if someone worked hard on there car, wether it’s import muscle, or a truck I have a lot of respect for their car.

One time we pulled into a car park next to a series 6-7 Mazda Rx7 quite tastefully modified. My friend said "fucking crap jap rice burner" and opened his door into the guys car, then slams it another 3 or 4 times before he got out. I seriously wanted to knock his fucking teeth out, needless to say I don't hang out with that cockhead anymore.

That's exactly the kind of analogy someone would come up with if they didn't actually understand the tech behind the two phones, but rather that they're just overall different. I’m only 13 but I’ve loved cars for about 4 years now. I don’t know a whole lot about cars and how all the mechanics work in the car or how to install something as simple as new suspension, but I still want to learn. This vid was a big inspiration for me to try not to be so self conscious about what other people think about me. That’s what I’ve been doing all my life, I’ve never been worried about myself and only what others think of me so I try to fit in and try to do things the way people want me to do, but it never works and I’m rejected and outcasted. For example I’ve only been to one car meet in my life, granted it was the best experience of my life I still had some trouble trying to understand what people were talking about. There was this guy with a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a standard 1.5 liter four cylinder engine but he made it look good by painting over it. I asked him one question and that was “ hey do you mind if I ask what kind of engine you have? He said it’s nothing special it’s just a stock 4 cylinder but she runs pretty good, a few seconds later another guy comes over and says “ dude you’re car is the shittiest car I’ve ever seen, I bet anyone can beat you. The other guy just simple started his car and left. I saw the other guy go back to his car and it turns out he had a little Volkswagen Golf. I’m sorry for making this such a long comment but my point is that this vid inspired me to become better than the people who think that other people are ass compared to them and that they are the kings of cars.

I know you did this video a while ago, but man you nailed this! Well done. This hate in the car community is a very human thing. This goes back to our very roots as humans. It was how we survived when we first came down out of the trees. It has to do with who is in or out of your group/tribe. If you are in one group of early humans and someone from outside the group attacks you then you have your in-group to protect you. This same system still is part of our daily life. Who's in and who's out. We still do it. I recently bought a 2020 Subaru WRX Premium with the CVT transmission and even the folks in my "group" hate on my car because it has a feature that I wanted. It really doesn't bother me, the car is still very fast and it does some cool things that the 6 speed manual cars can't. So what. Its my car and I'm paying the bills on it, not anyone else. So the hate even happens inside the group too. Usually from immature troglodytes that can't even spell CVT. LOL! Thanks for the great video!
I think James's Subaru, Ryan's Supra and Davids 240SX are the coolest things in the world. All of this hate in the car community needs to stop. I am working on a 1966 Ford Mustang, and I look at other cars like Tuners, Drifters, Stancers, and other Classics, and say "Thats cool!". Every build is unique and special, and I love that.
Theres a car group that was started by a group of exotic car owners in my area that tries to say their whole purpose is to include everyone because of this very argument. We all all love cars but if we dont love same car we're enemies. The funny thing is, the only people they let into their into their group is other exotic owners or people that have spent a shit ton of money on their car and the owners are some of the most judgmental assholes I've *ever* met. Surprisingly the nicest car people I've met was a group of BRZ owners. They were all nerdy overweight white guys but every single one of them loved their car to death and even though I dont drive a BRZ they welcomed me to be a part of their group with open arms.
As a car enthusiast (as I like to think of myself) at 18 and always loved cars. I love every single car and how its built. I can think of better ways but I will always accept I ti for what it is.

It's not the car. It's the owner. When you're arrogant, especially when you're wrong, it puts people off. This was the "ricer" crowd 10-15 years ago. It was extremely annoying. About 2004 I bought a 1998 Cadillac Seville STS. I like sleepers and big sedans. Loved the car. It was a mint one owner car. I was stationed in San Diego and started going to the Race Legal 1/8th mile drags. I would get so much hate. Yet the "ricers" we're stripping their interiors out, deflating tires, etc. Neons, wings. Blah, blah, blah. My bone stock STS full weight would leave them, even if they jumped the start. I wasn't arrogant, I just wanted to see what times I could run and learn how to launch a car at a drag strip. Yet I was probably hated on so much. Some even questioned why I even brought a Cadillac to the track...or that Cadillacs weren't for racing. Yet somehow their economy car was? Funny because now Cadillac has a lot of performance models.
I've watched a lot of Japanese car meets on TH-cam and people over there tend to be much nicer to each other. You see crazy stanced Miatas and Toyota Chasers, stock R32s, Audis with Anime girls all over them, tuned family vans... A lot of those would attract a lot of hate in the Western car scene, yet all those types of cars regularly meet in the same parking lot in Tokyo and nobody hates on one another.
I think the "help" segment is so true. You're almost guaranteed to find someone in the comments of forums going "why would you do that?" Or "you're stupid for trying this" on questions that the person probably really needs help with. Some of them don't even get any answers at the end of it

Building your own design or designing your own car is the way you also show your personality. he is right that he said he did not build that car for the satisfaction of the others he build that car for his own style and personality. designing your own car is also the way it can make you happy and feel stress free. Me being a car guy I also feel bad for the people who build their own car and getting hate on the others. Stop hating on other people build beacuse their build is the only way they can express their feelings and emotions. They also put a hardwork effort and money on that car even tho their car doesn't even look good that good just don't hate on it. Small blonde girl here, I wanted to work with cars my entire life. My family didnt like that and told me I could never do it and that I should simply give up. After writing over a hundred applications, a workshop gave me a chance. I got there and I was terrified. I thought they would eat me alive. After my first day I realized that the guys there just wanted to see that I want this, and that Im willing to learn, and I broke down crying on my way home simply because they allowed me to ask questions and gave me a chance to do stuff on my own. Its been six months now, and Im the happiest Ive ever been. Dont let your fear of looking stupid hold you back, the people who are willing to teach you something will see it as curiosity, not stupidity.

I drive a 2017 Camaro SS, yesterday a Chevy Malibu RS or something like that sped past me after I parked. My wife looked at me and said “ ughhh ricers” he then drove up to me since he saw me get out of the Camaro and started telling me about his car. I could have told him his car wasn’t for me but instead I showed excitement for his plans on the build for it. And the fact he got the car for such a good price. Even if you have a muscle car and see someone sporting the most JDM right hand drive thing youv ever seen. Don’t hate on him because it’s not what you like, because that’s not fair to anyone he spends a lot of time and money most likely loving his vehicle. And if your that guy that hates on things that don’t deserve it just because of pride or for whatever reason. Your not a true car enthusiast or lover of cars and we don’t want you in our community. I’ve owned from RX-8s to evos to mustangs and Camaros. I truly love ALL cars. Spread the love.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a guy in a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE... I have a 2008 Volkswagen R32 (obviously much slower than your Camaro.) We talked about our respective cars for a while and why we choose that particular car - a good conversation. Neither one of us felt the need to hate on each other's car.
I too have a 6th gen Camaro SS (2016), and I came from a Lexus IS350 and before that an E46 330i. There are just waaay too many good cars out there for me to not wanna own something different. The diversity of the car world is what keeps me interested in the first place, along with the great people you meet. I’ve met a few owners of Civics, Miatas, etc that I didn’t like but I show my interest in their cars and their plans regardless. Why knock someone down when you can build them up instead?? After all if we all liked the same exact things then there probably wouldn’t be so many different cars in the world in the first place!
I understand the point you are making with this vid, and I can relate. Took my BNR32 to a show one time and expected to get the usual 'must be so different driving on the other side', etc. type of comments but what actually happened was interesting. I got comments like "that Bride seat is fake" (no it's not, I bought it in Japan and know it's legit), "should have used JDM parts" (I guess a BW EFR 8374 wasn't JDM enough for them), etc. The worst offenders were teens that didn't have a car to show or the supra fanbois, the overwhelming majority of people that had cars in the show that day were actually nice and we talked shop about each others rides. If you are reading this, please take the opportunity to go experience the Japanese car culture. For them it's not really about what it is you do/what car you drive, it's how well you do it or how much pride you take in doing what you do.
Just want to pop in and say something, even if you don't have a japanese car it's worth the look into. it's a style you might end up liking even for non-japanese cars. I have a friend that absolutely LOVES a C6 corvette done up in that sort of style. and even I quite like it, and i'd be willing to do it to my Saturn Ion. most fitting non-japanese brand for it in my opinion as it was a brand designed around competing with Japanese manufacturers, and was even sold in japan for a brief time. I can already picture it done up like that lol
Social media has ruined the car industry. People say all day long they don't care what people think but in reality car guys want the likes and attention. Seems like every car guy on social media makes a post on what wheel color or modification should come next. Not only that 98% of TH-cam vloggers use clickbaits, false tech info, and feed complete bullshit about cars to gain ground on there channel. They use their viewers for fame. So much hate on comments section because nobody gives a shit about the guy making the video, they only car about the car in the video.

I drive a 2016 CVT WRX (mainly because I get sciatica down my left leg when it's under duress which makes clutching painful after long drives or dealing with traffic) but I've always wanted a rex so decided to bite the bullet and get the non-manual option. And apparently because of that I "Shouldn't have got a WRX" or I "just don't know how to drive manual" or even the classic "You're not even a real car person, you just got the WRX to attract guys". It drives me nuts, I can't go to car meets because I always draw criticism regardless of what I say and end up just leaving my car at home and going with my brother in his Evo to avoid that situation completely. Which I hate because I love being a part of the community. I didn't get this car for you or for anyone except me to enjoy. I just wish people would get that.

I used to really hate but really really hate Smarts but today I really like them after starting to drive my friends one in Austria and have driving it alone from Austria to Portugal (2275kms). Once a friend told me:" Hate the player, not the game". The reason for this hate was the way people drove these cars, the things they did with them. The places they parked their cars etc. Doing many things that is against the law.

One of the biggest problems are People who calls new Car enthusiast "RICERS" and laugh at them, instead of telling them some other/better options and showing them positive attitude, they get pushed away. I believe everyone started as a RICER, its what makes the progress so good and taste so sweet, knowing you started from zero knowledge making all the mistakes then you meet good people and then learn a lot to the point where you do stuff by yourself now.

But some told me that the Miata is Gay and that I should buy something else. Luckily I have gotten to know a guy who loves Miatas (he owns an NC) and we can talk all day about miatas, Miata mods and repairs

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, Ford, GM, Dodge, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, Porsche, PSA and even Volvo are all great cars to me. But I just hate on brands like Range Rover, Jaguar, Maserati, Bentley and Rolls Royce. In my country, most people who buy those cars or claim "love those cars" literally don't know anything about cars and they just don't care.

I have an almost completely stock 1986 Nissan 300zx and not a single person has ever given me crap, one person wanted me to engine swap and add HP ect but I told him I was keeping it mostly stock, he didnt mind much. I feel as if older cars are harder to hate on.

I'm embarrassed to say this but when I was young I used to have this dickhead friend. One time we pulled into a car park next to a series 6-7 Mazda Rx7 quite tastefully modified. My friend said "fucking crap jap rice burner" and opened his door into the guys car, then slams it another 3 or 4 times before he got out. I seriously wanted to knock his fucking teeth out, needless to say I don't hang out with that cockhead anymore.
My car was keyed because “it’s a slow piece of shit that got beat by a non vtec accord” says the retarted group of car people at my school, it wasn’t even an accord. It was a integra GSR with a eBay turbo kit that the kid bought from some African dude that built it in his driveway, he doesn’t even know how to work on it. People that buy cars that have work already done to them just to race people and then shit shit talk them because they won are a little special in the head. I get it if you buy a car that has work already done to it and your going to add on to that’s fine, but it’s when you buy a car that’s already built by the last owner that you don’t even know how to work on and use it to shit talk and then try and sell it because it burns 2 quarts of oil every time you drive it and you think it’s running rich, that’s when you look retarted.

I’m only 13 but I’ve loved cars for about 4 years now. I don’t know a whole lot about cars and how all the mechanics work in the car or how to install something as simple as new suspension, but I still want to learn.
This vid was a big inspiration for me to try not to be so self conscious about what other people think about me. That’s what I’ve been doing all my life, I’ve never been worried about myself and only what others think of me so I try to fit in and try to do things the way people want me to do, but it never works and I’m rejected and outcasted. For example I’ve only been to one car meet in my life, granted it was the best experience of my life I still had some trouble trying to understand what people were talking about. There was this guy with a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a standard 1.5 liter four cylinder engine but he made it look good by painting over it. I asked him one question and that was “ hey do you mind if I ask what kind of engine you have? He said it’s nothing special it’s just a stock 4 cylinder but she runs pretty good, a few seconds later another guy comes over and says “ dude you’re car is the shittiest car I’ve ever seen, I bet anyone can beat you. The other guy just simple started his car and left. I saw the other guy go back to his car and it turns out he had a little Volkswagen Golf. I’m sorry for making this such a long comment but my point is that this vid inspired me to become better than the people who think that other people are ass compared to them and that they are the kings of cars.

This hate in the car community is a very human thing. This goes back to our very roots as humans. It was how we survived when we first came down out of the trees. It has to do with who is in or out of your group/tribe. If you are in one group of early humans and someone from outside the group attacks you then you have your in-group to protect you. This same system still is part of our daily life. Who's in and who's out. We still do it.
I recently bought a 2020 Subaru WRX Premium with the CVT transmission and even the folks in my "group" hate on my car because it has a feature that I wanted. It really doesn't bother me, the car is still very fast and it does some cool things that the 6 speed manual cars can't. So what. Its my car and I'm paying the bills on it, not anyone else. So the hate even happens inside the group too. Usually from immature troglodytes that can't even spell CVT. LOL!

I think James's Subaru, Ryan's Supra and Davids 240SX are the coolest things in the world. All of this hate in the car community needs to stop. I am working on a 1966 Ford Mustang, and I look at other cars like Tuners, Drifters, Stancers, and other Classics, and say "Thats cool!". Every build is unique and special, and I love that.

Theres a car group that was started by a group of exotic car owners in my area that tries to say their whole purpose is to include everyone because of this very argument. We all all love cars but if we dont love same car we're enemies. The funny thing is, the only people they let into their into their group is other exotic owners or people that have spent a shit ton of money on their car and the owners are some of the most judgmental assholes I've *ever* met. Surprisingly the nicest car people I've met was a group of BRZ owners. They were all nerdy overweight white guys but every single one of them loved their car to death and even though I dont drive a BRZ they welcomed me to be a part of their group with open arms.

It's not the car. It's the owner. When you're arrogant, especially when you're wrong, it puts people off. This was the "ricer" crowd 10-15 years ago. It was extremely annoying. About 2004 I bought a 1998 Cadillac Seville STS. I like sleepers and big sedans. Loved the car. It was a mint one owner car. I was stationed in San Diego and started going to the Race Legal 1/8th mile drags. I would get so much hate. Yet the "ricers" we're stripping their interiors out, deflating tires, etc. Neons, wings. Blah, blah, blah. My bone stock STS full weight would leave them, even if they jumped the start. I wasn't arrogant, I just wanted to see what times I could run and learn how to launch a car at a drag strip. Yet I was probably hated on so much. Some even questioned why I even brought a Cadillac to the track...or that Cadillacs weren't for racing. Yet somehow their economy car was? Funny because now Cadillac has a lot of performance models.

I've watched a lot of Japanese car meets on TH-cam and people over there tend to be much nicer to each other. You see crazy stanced Miatas and Toyota Chasers, stock R32s, Audis with Anime girls all over them, tuned family vans... A lot of those would attract a lot of hate in the Western car scene, yet all those types of cars regularly meet in the same parking lot in Tokyo and nobody hates on one another.

I think the "help" segment is so true. You're almost guaranteed to find someone in the comments of forums going "why would you do that?" Or "you're stupid for trying this" on questions that the person probably really needs help with. Some of them don't even get any answers at the end of it

Building your own design or designing your own car is the way you also show your personality. he is right that he said he did not build that car for the satisfaction of the others he build that car for his own style and personality. designing your own car is also the way it can make you happy and feel stress free. Me being a car guy I also feel bad for the people who build their own car and getting hate on the others. Stop hating on other people build beacuse their build is the only way they can express their feelings and emotions. They also put a hardwork effort and money on that car even tho their car doesn't even look good that good just don't hate on it. Because their builds are their only happiness especially if they don't have a real friend to help them. So all we just need to do is to stop hating on their build and just respect them:)

Small blonde girl here, I wanted to work with cars my entire life. My family didnt like that and told me I could never do it and that I should simply give up. After writing over a hundred applications, a workshop gave me a chance. I got there and I was terrified. I thought they would eat me alive. After my first day I realized that the guys there just wanted to see that I want this, and that Im willing to learn, and I broke down crying on my way home simply because they allowed me to ask questions and gave me a chance to do stuff on my own. Its been six months now, and Im the happiest Ive ever been. Dont let your fear of looking stupid hold you back, the people who are willing to teach you something will see it as curiosity, not stupidity.

Wow. This is insanely true in the art community as well. There's artists who just need that little push in the right direction before they get really good at developing their style and technique, but shutting them out, and casting them away because they're "not good enough" or they're "stupid and don't know anything" is such a terrible thing to do.

I drive a 2017 Camaro SS, yesterday a Chevy Malibu RS or something like that sped past me after I parked. My wife looked at me and said “ ughhh ricers” he then drove up to me since he saw me get out of the Camaro and started telling me about his car. I could have told him his car wasn’t for me but instead I showed excitement for his plans on the build for it. And the fact he got the car for such a good price. Even if you have a muscle car and see someone sporting the most JDM right hand drive thing youv ever seen. Don’t hate on him because it’s not what you like, because that’s not fair to anyone he spends a lot of time and money most likely loving his vehicle. And if your that guy that hates on things that don’t deserve it just because of pride or for whatever reason. Your not a true car enthusiast or lover of cars and we don’t want you in our community. I’ve owned from RX-8s to evos to mustangs and Camaros. I truly love ALL cars. Spread the love.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a guy in a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE... I have a 2008 Volkswagen R32 (obviously much slower than your Camaro.) We talked about our respective cars for a while and why we choose that particular car - a good conversation. Neither one of us felt the need to hate on each other's car.
I too have a 6th gen Camaro SS (2016), and I came from a Lexus IS350 and before that an E46 330i. There are just waaay too many good cars out there for me to not wanna own something different. The diversity of the car world is what keeps me interested in the first place, along with the great people you meet. I’ve met a few owners of Civics, Miatas, etc that I didn’t like but I show my interest in their cars and their plans regardless. Why knock someone down when you can build them up instead?? After all if we all liked the same exact things then there probably wouldn’t be so many different cars in the world in the first place!
I understand the point you are making with this vid, and I can relate. Took my BNR32 to a show one time and expected to get the usual 'must be so different driving on the other side', etc. type of comments but what actually happened was interesting. I got comments like "that Bride seat is fake" (no it's not, I bought it in Japan and know it's legit), "should have used JDM parts" (I guess a BW EFR 8374 wasn't JDM enough for them), etc. The worst offenders were teens that didn't have a car to show or the supra fanbois, the overwhelming majority of people that had cars in the show that day were actually nice and we talked shop about each others rides.
If you are reading this, please take the opportunity to go experience the Japanese car culture. For them it's not really about what it is you do/what car you drive, it's how well you do it or how much pride you take in doing what you do.
Just want to pop in and say something, even if you don't have a japanese car it's worth the look into. it's a style you might end up liking even for non-japanese cars. I have a friend that absolutely LOVES a C6 corvette done up in that sort of style. and even I quite like it, and i'd be willing to do it to my Saturn Ion. most fitting non-japanese brand for it in my opinion as it was a brand designed around competing with Japanese manufacturers, and was even sold in japan for a brief time. I can already picture it done up like that lol

Social media has ruined the car industry. People say all day long they don't care what people think but in reality car guys want the likes and attention. Seems like every car guy on social media makes a post on what wheel color or modification should come next. Not only that 98% of TH-cam vloggers use clickbaits, false tech info, and feed complete bullshit about cars to gain ground on there channel. They use their viewers for fame. So much hate on comments section because nobody gives a shit about the guy making the video, they only car about the car in the video.
I'm glad someone touched on this subject. But let's be honest. The large majority of the hate comes from 12 year old trolls who doesn't even own a kick push scooter.

I drive a 2016 CVT WRX (mainly because I get sciatica down my left leg when it's under duress which makes clutching painful after long drives or dealing with traffic) but I've always wanted a rex so decided to bite the bullet and get the non-manual option. And apparently because of that I "Shouldn't have got a WRX" or I "just don't know how to drive manual" or even the classic "You're not even a real car person, you just got the WRX to attract guys". It drives me nuts, I can't go to car meets because I always draw criticism regardless of what I say and end up just leaving my car at home and going with my brother in his Evo to avoid that situation completely. Which I hate because I love being a part of the community.
I didn't get this car for you or for anyone except me to enjoy. I just wish people would get that.
