In all honesty, Arachne got what she deserved for hurting and putting up with Brandy as well as for being a naive, dishonest, and callous mentor, and Brandy was justified in killing her. Arachne might have been a victim of propaganda and and being brainwashed victim of bigotry, manipulation, and discrimination against the districts, for causing the Cranes to lose a lot of money and be stuck in the Capital. Many capital families see the districts as nonhuman and treat them like beasts, Arachne was most likely raised in a family and taught to have this view of district citizens,but it doesn't excuse her behaviour as she is an adult and knows what she did and how it would affect her. Brandy was just a teenager, being ripped from her home, and shipped away from everything she loved. She was forced to live in animal like conditions, with kids who were supposed to kill her. Under fed and scared the one person who was supposed to help her hated her for no reason., dumped in a monkey cage like she sort of an animal, hurt, humiliated, and come to this spoiled rich girl who was supposed to be her mentor and help her win and return to her parents instead of mocking her. I think Arachne should have been dismissed as a mentor due to her actions and been replaced by someone who was more willing to take care of their tribute. If that had happened, Arachne would be alive, and Brandy would have a better chance at winning the games. Arachne is loud, rude, greedy, and explosive, all of qualities which Coriolanus despises. When Brandy informed her how she spent the majority of her time in District 10 butchering hogs rather than assisting her and getting to know her. Arachne, on the other hand, felt it repugnant and disgusting that this is how brandy makes a life. Instead of feeding her tributes, she was mocking and shaming her in front of everyone ( trying to rival snow moments with lucy) , as if she were a freak show. Eventually, Brandy had enough and did what no tribute had done before: she went out at the real enemy, but she was slain afterwards. Killing is a terrible thing, but I believe everyone sympathizes with brandy. Not only was Brandy shot after this, but her body was displayed like livestock during Arachne's burial and was used to convey a message to everyone to get in line, or else this is how their end will be, because for the capital arachne meant something, while brandy was just a dirty district 10 hog slaughter who did not mattered neither life nor death, humiliating and dehumanising here even more in death.

I love the detail Tom Blyth put in of ducking his head behind Lilly Cooper. At first glance, it looks like Coriolanus is trying to sheid Aranche but nah. He calculated that, in the position he was in, the most vulnerable part of his body was his head so he was actually using her as a sheild. That is just so perfectly Coriolanus and Tom doing that was genius.
I don’t think they would have given brandy a better mentor unfortunately. At this point in the games, I think the majority of mentors truly did not care about their tributes getting home, as much as trying to get them to last the longest in the arena. Some of these mentors had been brainwashed since the war, and being a mentor was just a way to punch down to the districts. But Arachne earned her death through her actions 110%
I think the only ones who actually cared about their tributes were Lysistrata, Pliny, Domitia, Sejanus and maybe Festus (in the book). Coriolanus cared and loved the idea he had of Lucy Gray and the control he had over her more than he ever actually loved her. But Brandy got the worst of the lot unfortunately.

I mean she was teasing a poor, innocent, starving, dehydrated teenager who is being held in a zoo cage before being forced to fight other kids to the death, so I don’t know if feeling bad for her is a great thing. I get that she was brainwashed/raised to be that way but there was basically zero chance of her becoming a better person, even as an adult. She was better off dead
