Very impressive. It would be great to have a big huge one - you wouldn't even need the full globe, just half, or a third. Would also be cool to have a giant globe screen you sit inside of, to simulate environments.
The curvature is incorrect if you zoom in. The more you zoom in, the less curved the surface should be. So: now create a monitor which gets less curvy when zooming in :). This should be possible, as there are bendy displays these days.
Both flat maps and globe maps will distort the geography at certain zoom levels. The difference is that a flat map is *always* wrong and *always* distorts the geography. The globe map is correct when you keep it zoomed out. The globe could also simulate a flat map too, like how a flat screen simulates a globe.
Obviously a lot of mass gets squashed together into a point on the other side, which causes a black hole to start to form. It first starts to "eat" all the pixels around it and when it's done, it then eats the globe itself and the room it is in. Since that is extremely dangerous, there is special code programmed in to prevent zooming in to such a degree which would pass the point of no return and create the ring of event horizon. These people have a lot on their plate: not only have they created the colorful globe, they have also anticipated and thus prevented the end of humanity itself!
No. Man, NO. You're doing it ALL WRONG! I have a Gakken Worldeye, which is like 1% of that wonderful globe, and I don't use it for "Education". Screw that! I put on trippy videos like the stuff by TAS Visuals and let it BLOW MY MIND! It's like a Lava Lamp made a wish to become a GOD. I can't even image the limits of how awesome a game might be on one of these. This company might sell a few hundred for "Education", but if people saw what a spherical display can do, they could be selling a FEW MILLION to the rest of us!
you should have stopped at layers. Zoom is totally crap and useless feature of a globe. Stick to earth projection and just make the whole thing cheaper
2024 and still impressive. Far beyond it's time.
And now we got a giant sphere display in Las Vegas

This is gonna be the computer in our spaceship
Message me about this please
I'll do you a solid
What does it show on the backside when it's zoomed in?
Great question! I'd imagine it all squashes together into a point.
Yes I wondered that!

@@isragashi11 thank you kind sir!
You might want to talk stream works about getting the rights to make a real life using that 360 sphere screen.
Zoom doesn't make sense so I would suggest removing all such ferries and focus on other parts like layers
I thought about using Google Earth display technology as well
exlente
Great idea I see lots of potential! Ideas of cost and sphere sizes?
can u open streetview
There's so much lag that he failed to zoom in the first time. Get your tech together, guys

I would think it would be better if I was thinking about this technology
reddit. Take my money!

Shit there goes my idea
Same here, though I still have some changes of my own. Don't despair, you can still compete.
