Snooki brooks and alf Jacques are the best traditional stick makers in the world, and I have the pleasure of knowing both of them personally, as I live in the heart of Iroquois territory 💜🌲
I was a student at a Church of England girls boarding school in England during 1971-1976, and we used a wooden lacrosse stick. We were all very attached to our wooden sticks, and many of us have kept them. By 1976 we had certainly never heard of the sticks being made of anything else. Everyone used wooden sticks. We used to spend a lot of time oiling our sticks and taking care of them. I cannot imagine wanting to use anything else. I would post a photo but it does not seem to be possible in these comments.
Don't know if you know this, but the inventor of the mesh stick was the equipment manager of Navy, Tommy Adams. He built it from the mesh bags that the midshipmen used to put their laundry in. He created it due to the fact that nylon and leather when wet would cause a whip in the stick. He later introduced it to the STX salesman. That's how STX got the technology.
I'm of the age where I should be all about mesh, but give me a traditional strung stick and I'm in heaven. The pocket retains so much more control. yes, It takes more upkeep esp. when wet but it's not that much work, and the benefits are astounding...
@@yami_fiesta2592 It was more of a one sided beef. Look up Blue Collar Lacrosse's youtube account, they made plenty of videos trashing ecd back in the wax mesh days. I think the actual founders, Marc and Joel, weren't the ones perpetrating the beef. It was the media guy, the one you see talking in all of the videos. Sad really. I was a big marc mesh fan back in the day
Not to be rude. But why is a whitw guy trying to educate and teach people about the history of mesh and pockets of traditional lacrosse, when he doesn't actually know what hes talking about. The 1st minute is wrong facts the woodies and stick ball sticks are completely different sports and was a different nations game. Lacrosse has belonged to the Haudenosaunee. Get your history right dude.
That’s like dropping the H-bomb on Hiroshima!!! A week is to long to wait to find out this information!!! Dammit, I just strung 3 heads last week and now you are telling me I could have something new to play with 🤬😢
Mesh was also in the 70's with the STX 73 along with aluminum shafts. I had one when played at Loyola 71-75
Yes have a STX "73" factory mesh.
Agree. This announcer is presenting inaccurate information.
Im taking that as a Hero 3.0 leak

Wait.....
Thank you. I love history

You skipped the best of them all. A well skilled stringer doing a 6 diamond traditional pocket. Simply unbeatable!!
we were using traditional pockets with plastic heads well into the 90s
I have the hero 3.0 I love it

A well strung traditional is hard to beat you are right about that, most players do not know how to do them well is the issue

Hero 3.0 Is coming out black friday, not thinner but 10% more water resistant, 10% more bagging resistant and 30% lighter i believe are the stats
I literally just want 90s soft stock mesh that all
How do you make mesh?
We tested a lot of fibers and coatings but the machines that make mesh are called looms
Is there a new head or shaft coming anytime soon?
Both in 2020 👀
Hero 3.0 lets go
