I tried flipping way back in the day, when I didn't have a ton of money, and I found it to be really challenging. Not sure why I struggled with it so much.... I've picked it back up in the last couple years though, and it's pretty mind blowing how easy it is! Any time I really need money, I just sell the bank and flip for a few days. Last night, I managed to flip Arcanes and Spectrals at the same time, with huge margins. Love that you shouted out flippingoldschool been a sub of his for 3 years love your content as always thanks for the video man always super relaxing to watch
I've always been flipping something on RuneScape since before EoC. The funny part is, I only play Iron man mode, so I just flip on a F2P alt to pay for bonds. A couple tips for people who want to get into flipping, but are confused, or don't want to lose money: - Patience (It's better to earn slowly and steady, then risk losing all your money in 10 mins on a bad flip) - Slow buy over a couple days - Flip commonly traded goods (Ores, raw food, runes, logs) - Do a little research first 1 Example: Many bots were removed from the game back in April, so many heavily botted goods are now quite expensive: such as raw fish. As bots come back into the game, the price of those will drop. So mass buying a large amount of raw fish, like raw lobsters, right now is probably not wise. Look at the GE history for the item you're buying. If the item is at the lowest it's been in 6 months, it will most likely pop back up. This applies for commonly traded goods, not rare items, such as the Sythe, which will keep going down as more come into the game. Exams, Nature Runes have been 230+gp on average for the past 6 months. They hit a 6-month low of 200gp yesterday. They will probably pop back up in the next couple weeks. I bought 800k Natures. I'm now going to let those sit in my bank for a couple weeks until they go up again, and maybe sell them for (I guess around 220gp in a couple weeks). That would be 21gp profit per Nature * 800,000 = 16.8m profit. AKA 4 bonds for my iron man. Haha
So I’m sure you have probably heard this before but GE tracker is a really awesome asset and only a few dollars a month. With it you get like graphs and even candlestick charts. If you’ve ever seen stock market trading you’ve probably seen candlestick charts. There are videos to show you what they mean (even ones specific to Osrs) give it a look. It may help
If anyone is getting into flipping, I built my first real cash stack by flipping while fletching yew longs to 99, high alching, doing pray pot decants, herb runs, etc.. Pretty good way to start a main account. By the time you get to 99 fletch you'll have some decent cash(think I ended up with about 75m), plus you'll get a lot of magic and farming levels.
Around last December I made +25m from flipping only bandos bracers. Bought them for 15-20k each and sold them for 90-120k each. Clue scroll items will sometimes have the craziest profit margins
Great video, I would love to see a 1B edition but may I recommend GE Tracker and using candlestick graphs? Takes a little time to figure it out but damn is it helpful
Flipping when 07 first came out was amazing I had noob levels, but I got my first 500k and made it to 10m within a week and was pulling 500k plus an hour when the rates were 20-25ish:1 pre ge ofc
The last time I tried to do anything close to a flip was right before the switch rs3 and the whip was going around 3 mil or so and the differnece of like 2 weeks it dropped to like 350k.
Years back I was making 50-100m profit each day from flipping. Now adays, it’s not quite so profitable it seems…. One suggestion I have is that it’s not always the super high value items that are the best flips. Sometimes it’s the highly traded cheap items such as runes, ores, arrows, bones, ect that profit with small margins in high quantities that adds up to be the biggest flips.
I’ve been told I don’t know how to flip because I don’t price check or undercut at all. Yet I make millions. I don’t flip this way, instead I look at the price on ge tracker for a day and a week, then for the buy I find the lowest buy and then the highest buy that reasonably still gets me profit and avg the two to find a middle ground and buy for that price. I then do the opposite for the sell. Highest sell averaged by lowest reasonable sell.
Flipping takes time. It's absurd enough to write down all one hundred flips and profit made on them, nobody is going to write down the amount of time it took for each individual item to buy or sell that's just a ridiculous question.
Buy an item for 5% more then sell it for 5% less. Look at the margin in the history and buy the item with the same amount of gp from the 5% less sell then sell them for the amount that someone sold the 5% more buy. If that makes sense if not google it.
You'd be best to go watch a quick tutorial from FlippingOldschool, but here's my [kinda] brief explanation: When flipping items, the whole point is to figure out the current buy/sell margins of an item, then buy more of that item at the lower end, and re-sell them at the upper end of that margin. The easiest way to figure out the current margin of an item is to put in a buy offer for a price way above the current GE price of that item. It doesn't have to be 5%; that's just usually what people do because there's a quick-button for it. You then collect the item and whatever leftover coins you got back, then you immediately sell the item back to the GE for a price well UNDER it's current price. You then collect your money and look at the history. When looking at the history, you will see that you bought the item at a higher price than you sold it back for, and those are your margins. Undercut them a little bit, and try to buy more of that item as close to the lower end of the margin as you can. They will slowly buy, and you then want to try selling them back toward the upper end of the margin. I know that sounds a little confusing, but it's incredibly simple. Here's a real-world example - Say you want to flip an Abyssal Whip. The current GE price of a whip is 3m. You can put an offer into the GE for 3.5m, and it's going to buy instantly. Collect the whip and your extra coins that were left over, then immediately sell the whip back to the GE for 2.5m. Again, it will instant sell. Collect your coins, and go look at your history. Even though you put in a buy offer for 3.5m and a sell offer for 2.5m, it will actually look something like this: [Whip/Bought/3,054,237gp || Whip/Sold/2,967,854gp]. The two prices you see in your history are going to be the current margins that whips are buying and selling for in the GE. Now that you know the margins, you undercut them a bit, and buy 7 more whips at the low price. For example, in this case, maybe you could buy 7 more whips for 2,975,000 each, and sell them back to the GE for 3,050,000 each. Every time you price check an item by buying it high and selling it low, you're going to lose a little bit of money... The more you lose though, the better, actually; because that means the item you just price checked has a really wide margin, and the amount of money you just lost in price checking that item is [potentially] the same amount of money you will make back 7 times over by flipping that item 7 more times. If you price check a Dragon Full Helm and lose 400k, you can probably buy 7 more of them at the lower price and make 7 * 400k back. You take a hit initially, but it's the best way to find the margins. Keep in mind though, item prices do constantly change, and so do their margins. If your flip is taking too long, there's a good chance that the prices have changed, and your margins aren't working anymore. One of the main keys to successfully item flipping is to recognize when you should remove your offer and adjust the price, versus when you should have patience and wait for your offers to complete. Honestly, that's probably a skill you can only learn with experience, but it doesn't take much practice to get it down. And in case you weren't sure, the Grand Exchange has a 4 hour buying limit for all items. Most armor and weapons have a buy limit of 8 per four hours, but other items like Runes and Feathers and such will be much higher. You can google "OSRS GE Buying Limits" to find a list on Wikipedia of every GE tradable item in the game, and their 4 hour GE limit. Cheers! -Kaylor
Note, this only works on items that actually sell for their ge value. Twisted clothing for example sells for much much much higher than its ge value so 5% system doesn’t work.
