thanks a lot. i had no idea i had to pull the lever back to release the bulb altho it certainly didn't eject as easily as yours and it's hard to see exactly what's going on behind your finger. when i finally got the bulb out it was broken. i thought i had seen one for sale by that company in Manhattan that advertises everything and then tells you it's out of stock.

Great video does it not matter which way you insert the bulb? I just acquired my grandfather's 760H projector along with many boxes of carousels. There was a bulb from 1986 I put it in but it only worked for a second I guess the bulb was too old.

It does not matter which way the lamp does in. And, for most lamps age is not a factor. But once they are used, the filaments start to become brittle. and after they are sufficiently brittle, just a slight bump or even a current surge such as flipping on the switch can cause them to blow out. But unused lamps can sit on the shelf for many years and still be like new. Thanks for watching, writing and good luck.

I have a Kodak 700 Carousel projector with a tube bulb. Any luck getting that out?

They should just come straight out. Gloves are always a good safety measure.

I have the 600H model, as well. Is there any known way to add a remote control to this (i.e.: a simple modification without having to purchase a different model projector) so that I can reverse the cartridge carousel when viewing slides? It's a major pain to advance forward with no way to reverse the carousel to see a slide that has passed. Instead, having to scroll through 140 more times just to get back to the slide I want to see again. Ugh! Great video on the maintenance of this machine, nevertheless.

@@hardluckcharlie Oh, bummer! I'd like to digitally preserve decent quality pics of these old slides sometime for archive purposes, but there's really something pure and nostalgic about viewing them through the real deal of an old school projector that gives a certain vibe, feel and experience that viewing pics on a PC monitor just can't achieve for me. Crazy enough, there's even a certain scent to opening old boxes of slides, along with the noisy fan blowing it's warm air out of the projector and the clunky noises the machine makes when advancing from slide to slide that feeds into the whole experience for me. Kind of like a real time machine, so it has it's magical properties, even though they're dated. I guess I'll have to search around for a different model projector that has a reversing mode and/or remote control.
But thank you for the feedback anyway. Most appreciated!
By the way, I'm a big Chaplin fan myself. 👍

Can that bulb be replaced with an LED lamp? I'm using the Kodak Carousel 850H for digitizing slides and the Lamp just gets too hot.

I am experimenting with some LED lamps. I will post back here if I find and solutions. The problem so far has been getting enough illumination from an LED cob that fits with the necessary heatsink behind it.

My projector is EVEN OLDER; has a lamp that looks like an old vacuum tube. 500 watts. Know anything about changing them? Where to get them? Thanks.
