I owned the Hue box just like this, and switched to the camera-based Govee one. Genuinely, I'd take the camera any day: with these boxes you lose valuable video quality (no HDMI 2.1), and they aren't compatible with any of your TV's built in apps.

Exactly only workaround for TV Apps is to use a Chromecast or similar but with it lacking HDMI 2.1 this is a pointless product. The camera setup is still king.

Increases latency, no HDMI 2.1 why even bring this out right now ? So, i'd more likely go for their T3 with camera to be honest. Also works on every TV, no TV app needed.
Problem with HDMI is that it is expensive to get HDMI 2.1. A 60fps 360p camera with manual focus wheel would be ideal. Then you get free average color using manual blur, fast 360p transfer of color information. You would just need to adjust contrast to get actual blacks when tv is black.

That's dope. I'm gonna stick to the camera for now myself. All these smart tvs with the built in apps. The only things I run through HDMI is my games and I don't wanna stream all my content through a console.
@@ricardomelo2714 essentially you route your game console or whatever to a splitter it gives you two outputs one goes to the tv to facilitate 4K120 or 8K60 and the other to the Govee AI box. You’ll have your LED and HDMI 2.1 at the same time.
Unfortunately they also ditched the built in smart tv apps... I was ready to buy the sync box for my new tv but... surprise surprise.. maybe "tomorrow"!

Anybody has been able to sync with a Samsung Qeq7c tv ? I can't get video to sync up... or I connect directly to the PS but the image is not perfect and sound is not great...
i got them and tbh at first i thought they were going to be a big ass distraction with all the flashing lights but when your locked in you really dont even notice and i forget i even have them. They also great for just showing off but thats just my recomendation
All govee needs to do is make a tabletop camera that will calibrate the TV. Then you can set it behind the center speaker to help hide from the front view. It would be a lot better than mounting it top or bottom of TV. That would be a big seller. Or can you already do this?
It's awesome but sucks when so many apps are built into the TV. Great solution I guess if you don't use any apps on TV or just use Xbox or PS5 for all media needs.
I have one for watching movies in the living room, but I couldn’t Handel the one on my monitor I felt like I had seizures, too much flashing lights in the back to game comfortably due to the high gaming not worth it.

My dad once bought led lights and put it behind our tv.. i honestly wouldn't reccomend putting led lights behind a tv. My eyes would get irritated whenever my dad turned it on. Plus it was just annoying and didn't look as cool as we expected. Now the led lights are just there havent been on for like a year.

I had Ambilight setup before, I moved to a camera Govee setup because of the limits of the PI setup.... I wanted HDMI 2.1 with VRR support....

another alternative is to get one that supports razer chroma and use sim hub's ambient light module. the only downside supports windows systems only.
No HDMI 2.1 pass through is a huge oversight.

Doesn't work with Netflix, Amazon, Disney, or any streaming service which is installed on the TV, only works with HDMI sources.

No, it works for anything with HDMI input. So a (4k)blu-ray player, nvidia shield, Fire, apple tv etc. It does not work on tv apps unfortunately.
