Stephandrussell Mcclanahan my dad was Greek and mom German. Mom from a farm in Illinois and dad from P.a. I grew up in Tarpon Springs, florida. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to both styles of music. Some of my mom's family played in a bluegrass band and i also attended lots of Greek festivals(large Greek community) in Tarpon growing up. I always felt the bazouki sounded like the banjo at times. I was so lucky to be exposed to both cultures! The joke here is most of the Greeks are very country in Tarpon as they have assimilated well to Central Florida. :)
