Mr Haseeb....your teaching method is ideal for us learners..you make it easy to understand a circuit...would I.. connect an oscilliscope to the same two points to see the waveform....ie transformer winding and mosfet drain and what would be the gate voltage..thank you
Hello Mr. Haseeb. I can read 167VDC to the area on the primary side by the partition from the input of 120VAC. But I have no reading on the secondary side from the legs of the coil to other side of the diode that you mention. So I am wondering if I have a bad transformer or maybe the 167VDC is not pulsating to transfer voltage to the secondary of the coil. My board looks 5 times bigger than the one you have here. Thanks in advance for any advice.
167VDC is okay, is it stable? did you checked VCC voltage on vcc capacitor connected to the VCC pin of smps ? is the mosfet is switching? i will suggest to check video number 528. i think it will be very useful
@@HaseebElectronics Appears quite stable totally. Well here is what I just ended up doing. I tested the switching transistor (K2370 N channel). I installed a 40k resistor to the collector and its other end to an open gate wire, leaving it out. And from the collector another 40K and then hook it up to the positive of a lithium ion 4V. Hooked up the negative of the battery to the emiter. A cap .1uF between the collector and the emiter. The capacitor charges when the gate is open, the instant I approached the gate with that open wire, voltage show drop. Voltmeter is connected to the collector and the emitter. When the wire moves away from the gate the cap charges and the cycle repeats. So I assume it means the switching transistor is working, implying pulse voltage to the primary of the coil. Unless this is wrong. I happen to follow this other guy's suggestion. So I don't know if it means anything. As I would think for the secondary of the transformer to get energized the primary has to get pulsating voltage. I don't get the total picture. I guess a voltmeter does not really show pulsation but root means value or whatever. But when the capacitor, charges/disharges, especially being gradual the meter in that case can show gradual rise and fall of voltage. If all this is correct then I assume I have a bad transformer and in my case two bad ones. I guess transformers can go bad before other things. I don't know. Okay from what I see, that K2370 switching mosfet;s collector feeds the primary side of a transformer which is way before the flyback or chopper transformer at the border. What feeds the primary of the two coils at the border is dc to dc converter Toshiba 2SK3114. There is two of them. One of it, the middle pin feeds one transformer but not the other transformer. And the second one is not feeding either because the ohm reading are pretty high. The one transformer that it is getting fed, there are two ceramic capacitors. I have tested their farad and it reads fine as specification. However when the board is plugged in I read no voltage across either one. The other transformer that no connection exist from either 2SK3114, there even on the secondary side there is some volt reading but not much across the capacitors. But I hardly read any voltage from its pins to the two (3pin diodes) but full continuity. With respect to the other transformer, there is voltage from the secondary to the middle pin of the barrier diode ( common leg of .25 volts). So I guess that part only seem to be okay.
