Thanks Earl, You know what your doing, and willing to share the knowledge in detail. Most others just skip thru the steps. Not you !! Good to be a viewer of your work.
Earl you're amazing. Great instruction. Every word that comes out of your mouth is gold. I want to get you a t-shirt that says, "old guys rock." Thank-you for taking the time to make this video and passing on your skills. -Trevor
Thanks for the video instruction. I enjoyed seeing the difference between the different glue up methods. I was surprised that you could put them through the drum sander so soon. I learned something new again today thanks.
This is the second time I watched this video. I have done a little bit of segmented turning years ago, but I enjoyed watching your video. You did a great job explaining everything. I appreciate you taking the time to share your information with everyone. Thank you Sir. Dan
just about to make a couple of rings to edge a turning project and watching you I have learnt so much. Love the dowel trick when gluing half rings. Thanks for taking the time to make this video Earl.
You are truly a master at your craft , watching you has taught me so much. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to teach others how to do it the correct way. Your turnings are very beautiful. Take care Earl thanks again my friend.
Thanks for the time and effort to make these videos ... I appreciate them! I made a couple of 'Rasmussen Clamps' and have used them on a project I am working on ... pretty slick!
I very much enjoyed your video and learned a lot. Really appreciated the straight talk and good practical advice. I just subscribed and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos.
Love your videos! I would love a short video on how you made your sled. All the steps and tools you used to make it. I have a box digital angle finder (like a wixie), but I’m not getting anywhere near what I should be on 20 segments. Getting frustrated :( Any advice would be super appreciated!!! Thanks Earl! ❤️🤙
@@earlssmallsegmentshop5798 ack so sorry. I came across the sled video a little after posting this and forgot to delete this comment. Sorry! Love the videos! :)
Thank you Mr. Earl for taking your time to make and post this video. It has really helped me to understand how to do this awesome art of segmented turning. I am currently really struggling with a small amount of gap. I don't want to do half rings, I want to do it right and make whole rings but I haven't figured out my error. I am getting conflicting information on the formula for the segment length. One person says that there is a property called "Vernier length" that has to be considered because we are cutting the segments on an angle. Have you herd of this? The formula is Seg Length X COS(Miter Angle). The pieces work out to be just a little different than the the formula "RING DIA X TANGENT = SEGMENT LENGTH. Can you help me solve this problem? I am certain my equipment is set up correctly and square. I really appreciate your time. Robert
There is many programs and charts on line so you dont have to figger them out, if you send me an email I will send you the chart I use opensegmenter@gmail.com
I can cut 2 rings same material same time one will have tight joints and one I will have to adjust the angle on a segment to make to joints tight, it happens.
Hi earl I am a new subscriber lwas impressed by your detailed teaching method Can you discribe how you made the item that you use to tighten the rings all the best /john s /from england

Did earl ever build a butterfly segmented vase I assume some kind of dowels might be used to make the wing?
Do the segments come apart over time?
Hi! I see you have a calculator on your desk, do you have a formula you could share to determine the various angles required to cut dif. stanes
