if any VR fans wanna hear more of his melodic side of his music, i recommend checking out channels that post his IDs and unreleased stuff, there’s a whole ton of untouched great stuff there.
also, after attending my very first virtual riot concert, i can kinda see why VR and his label focuses so heavily on riddim, with how wild the crowd gets hearing a super intense riddim drop rather verses their response to melodic stuff.
while it puts for an amazingly wild fun experience, his melodic stuff always triumphs it for me and has such a massive amount of replay value for me that i’ve been consistently listening/coming back to ever since i found this dude back in 2015.

From listening to VR all these years, I can honestly say and remember 2016 being the turning point in regards to his mixdowns. He had a more “pop” mix especially when his Emotional remix released and his remix with Kill The Noise. I remember that very vividly. He constantly implements new techniques and you can tell from hearing the before and now. Before it was more of a thicker, slightly muddier mix but throughout time, mixes were all overly bass and low mid heavy. Then slowly he had more of that polished tight bass and low mid control. That may have sounded like a bunch of jibberish to most but, in short, you can clearly tell he has referenced, analyzed and studied other artists with that “mainstream/pop” mixdown. And over time, he has achieved that polished Skrillex-style mixdown and took it even further.

This goes to show that even talented people need a ton of time to learn their craft. Although Virtual Riot was 16 when he first got into EDM, he actually started learning cubase even earlier. He was 20 when he first signed to Disciple. So although VR has mad talent, he basically went through the phases every musician goes through.

Wow .. what a throwback ! This video just made me realised how long do I follow VR and his evolution in EDM.
As many said in the comments, we can only admit that Virtual Riot is such an incredible artiste-producer, really talented who produced a LOT of Bangers, wonderful track and such masterpieces !
This video just reminds me how much do I love his stuff and how good he is.
Long life to this genius of EDM.

You can see how his music went from really heavy classic dubstep to more melodic music to idek what that would be called type dubstep. Crazy how times are different from when dubstep was actually good from 2011-2016 till now. Virtual Riot is still an amazing artist and Fuck Gravity will always have a special place in my heart.
