I would like to see a lot more updates like this, the biggest thing for me was they had a proper beta, we went through about 7 or 8 releases, I raised a number of bugs which were sorted, so I'm happy that they took their time getting this one out.
The new browser I think works better than the old however TBH I never used the old browser nor then new one really, it just happens to be there. My Favourite lists for devices is something I did not realise how much I had missed that and glad it's back.
@PoohBearsReasonChannel I'm not against the new browser being there, but I really don't click with windowed browser, so would have appreciated if they also kept the fixed one, especially since the screen space is still dedicated to the same thing, but only partially (devices). It was a big deal (for me) when they moved from the old windowed one to the, now old, fixed one. Ive never really used favorite lists, the few times I've tried they've been forgotten shortly after creation, or just used for a specific purpose, like deciding later between a few patches I'm unsure about. I do set up a few shortcuts to often accessed folders (like Refills, Samples, or Own Recordings) and refills, and I'm not only fine with, but prefer, navigating my folder structure compared to searches or tags. But hey, nowadays I mostly do creative wiring or work on remote stuff, and I'm completely fine staying on R9 and R11 (even together some times, using Renoise as both VST host for RRP11 and rewire host for R9). Also, really love your channel, it's inspired me getting in to writing remote stuff again, soon finished with a remote codec for PlayStation controllers (using touchosc as middle man)
The browser is good its not like the old browser from Reaon 4 pr what ever which was a Microsoft Windows menu set up. This Reason Browser is specifically operated and ran through Reason which makes it more efficient however this is partly why 13 takes longer to load then 12 because it has to list and find all locations before opening. VS the old browser from 12 that relies on utilising the search and order code from Windows explorer. Completely different why of organise and file recall.
Yet again I find a new Reason channel thats never appeared before when ever I have searched for other Reason users on TH-cam. TH-cam doesn't seem to highlight Reason video's. Also most hard to find Reason users have not made videso with Reason in the video title. The only reason I found this video is because I have been searching for Reason 13 vids.
I expect it's because reason would be a semi popular word to use in a title however welcome to the channel, there is a mixed bunch of stuff here around Reason from MPE to Codec to lots of hints and tips.
@PoohBearsReasonChannel Actually I have been on your channel before I remember your touch screan and asking you about it possibly, was a while ago, any I subbed so hello again. Puting Reason 13 in the video title is all thats required to get your Reason video's to show when people search Reason 13. If you search Reason 13 My videos will show up.
@@HOLLASOUNDS The only way I got to see your channel was via your name, it did not come up for me with Reason 13 search, it's probably showing up for you as you spend time in your channel, the TH-cam algorithm is for those who spend money or monetize them as TH-cam will make money as well, I can monetize my channel but I never went down that route as it will only be a few pounds and I can see some people making shit for the sake of it to get money. I'll have a look at your stuff a little later on today.
@PoohBearsReasonChannel I just checked from 2 different accounts both ones I never search or watch music production or reason 13 and My videos show up next to Chris Reed on both. Also when I search from My phone a completely different unrelated device aand a 3rd account My videos sill show up just searching Reason 13. If My videos dont show when you search its because you have told TH-cam to "Do not show Me videos from this channel" or you selfected "Not interested" on My videos or you didn't rate a suggested video from My channel "It this video suggestion good for you?" Or "What did you think of this video" if you ignore the question or rate low, TH-cam will stop showing videos to you from that user. As for as I'm aware there is no evidence that TH-cam prioritys monetized channels when searching.
@@HOLLASOUNDS I just fired up my Tor browser, so no account information about me is visible, again you do not show up, top of the list across 3 browsers searching for "Reason 13" is "Stock Music Musician" then a number videos by Reason Studio, then some by people I don't know and have not watched, Chris Beats appears a couple of pages down along with Kickback, then old Reason 13 videos and then it starts to list over non related Reason videos. still not tempting enough..genuinely believe RStudios have completely run out of ideas..even though the players are fun. First of, thank you for your kind words, I do try and be unbiased or more to the point truthful to myself, however if I really love a RE then I will be bias towards it as it's meeting my needs but at the same time if something is wrong it should be called out and or I usually like to give a workaround. Lock device in place, that would be nice the number of time I'm meant to be just moving a knob and oops there goes that rack somewhere LOL. I have a couple of Midi2 devices, so yeah that will be nice to have, saying that this year I have been playing with codec stuff and you can make things really fine with that, as in even better than midi2 resolution, 4,194,304, but then it could take an hour or so to turn up a knob LOL If you are R12 I totally understand the upgrade is not much of a jump for some, it's back on Sale and the JRRSHOP has it for about $71 (use the code FORUM), I won't post that fact as usually when I do they run out of stock quite quickly :) Happy Reasoning :)
Great video presentation of this great update. I still don't understand why the browser doesn't allow searching in VSTs, so personal tags are only useful for REs. I wish it had added track folder management.
I not sticking up for RS however if you had presets inside of RE's (built in) then they would not be searchable, my presets outside of VST's e.g. FXP, FXB files are searchable in the browser. When I install VST's I have always where I can point the content to a VST content folder of my choice, it's a shame that a number of VST's don't give that option and point the documents folder (and some to the music folder) just no standard. Track and Rack folders I see being requested more and more at the moment, so it might start to move up the priority list.
@@PoohBearsReasonChannel It would be so much easier to drag & drop instruments (include vst), effects or others from the device list on the browser to specific folders (reverb, eq, compressors, etc ...) or tags. It's crazy because I have lots of other DAWs like Bitwig, Nuendo, Reaper, but I always come back to Reason, even if they lack certain features. For me, Reason could do more support with its RE format (DSP) a strength, if it bothered to evolve it, like Protools with its own AAX format (even if Protools supports VST). Because several publishers offer the AAX version in addition to their VST version, I think RS could do the same with their RE format. Of course, it's not aimed at the same audience (Protools is more for Pro users and sound engineers, while Reason is more for home studio users...), but when there's money at stake...
Reason cant have VSTs in there tagging system from patch browsing because VSTs have there own presset search and are all different. Think Arturia, your not going to get Reason to Search presets in a VST with tags. If you want to have a VST preset available in tag search then put the device into a Combinator and then save you favourite VST patches in the VST Combinator and then tag that.
@@3ngeloCant and never will be able to do that from VSTs because they have there own pach browsers in there VSTs. You use the VSTs seach browser and what ever they have done, You cant expect Reason Studios to be dojng that lol.
@@HOLLASOUNDS You don't even have to put it into a Combinator, you can save the patch via the Reason VST interface and tag that which is a better way as then you can search for it and drop it into a new combinator that you are putting together. For VST's that use their own internal patching system, I use the term internal patching over browser as for example, Rob Papen have their own browsers but all the patches are on disk and available in the Reason browser as FXP\FXB files. The VST Vital has an extension of VITAL and does not show up, I have not cracked one of those files open yet as it just could be a FXP file renamed.
@PoohBearsReasonChannel - Do u still have Nektarine? Just curious if you do and are having issues with Reason 13. I only just started trying to use Nektarine in 13, so I don't know if 12 was also broken. I have a P6 and when I'm setting up the mapping nothing shows up in my P6 instrument screen.
Hi, no I don't however I just installed 2.6.5 (as the version install insisted that I updated!!!) and it worked OK with my P1, I did note it showed I had 3 Blade2 but only one of those loaded, so I did a re-scan and it corrected that list and working more as expected. Note, Untick the controller in Preferences\Surface Controllers first, then use Nektarine.
@@PoohBearsReasonChannel Hi there. So Unticking the controller in prefs-surfaces doesn't help because then the P6 doesn't do anything with Reason at all. What I've realized the main issue is is that my Nektarine in Reason has no "activation" button/indicator in the upper-right corner. There's supposed to be a yellow box there. When I run stand-alone Nektarine outside of the DAW, I get that box. I can even run two standalones and activate one or the other with that. But when I'm in Reason, my Nektarine has no activation indicator to see or to click. Maybe I'll try removing and re-installing it or something, but it seems like a pretty odd symptom. Not sure if it'll be an easy fix. I've contacted Nektar as well. Only non-standard things I'm doing is that I collected all my VST3 and VST2 and moved them all to my E drive in two common locations rather than strewn around 5 folders. The other thing I did was to create directory junctions to move the huge content folders that Reason installed on C also to put on the E drive, but the application shouldn't be affected by that. I'll keep playing around with it.
@@dstorfer If I had the surface controller selected then I could not use it in Nektarine (I'm pretty sure the old version was OK). Just make sure you have the latest firmware install in your P6 and the latest drivers for Reason. FYI: I use junctions and I have not had any issues with them as they are low level in the OS so apps don't know about them.
I did not think it was the "main" focus however the browser is new so there are changes to it to make it even better and without a doubt more changes for it will be coming down the line.

I know my sounds and I was super comfortable with the old browser : so the old one should be still available. One thing I don't like about the RE's they almost never get updated or improved ....... All seems unfinished and wonky ....
to be honest.. they are running out of ideas... or they going short in the platform they using so little things in recent update between version.. some updates that should be offer free... but paid... i think they should improve... clap support... solçve the iussues they have with some vst.... support vst midi!..etc...

I actually had my hopes up for getting the old file browsing back. Seems like I have to accept sticking with R9 (for rewire) and R11😢

Why is the browser the main focus?
I did not think it was the "main" focus however the browser is new so there are changes to it to make it even better and without a doubt more changes for it will be coming down the line.
