I'm a full-blooded Igorot, both my mom and dad are born and raised in the Mt. Province. They always use the dialect whenever they converse in our house eversince I was a little kid so I can understand what they're talking about.
As for me, I was born in Sultan Kudarat when they establish their business back in the 1990s and then we moved in Antipolo, Rizal when I was 2 yrs old and this is where we reside until present. I rarely visit or join family reunions cause I'm too shy and can't relate to how close everyone is of my age during gatherings -- even closer to the elders too. It's hard for me to relate to them since I'm city-cultured. It also makes me anxious thinking how almost everyone would constantly ask me if I already have a girlfrienf or if I'm already married or why am I not married yet. 😅😅😅 These are my memories from the past visits and reunions I had. Last time I went there, I was 2nd year college - I'm 27 now. I'd love to visit again someday with my dad and try to relate as an adult cause the younger version of me sucked. 😂😂😂
Also, though I understand the dialect, I can't distinguish between some of the Igorot and Ilocano words cause they use the same words sometimes. And when I try to construct a sentence, it's like being in an English class for the first time, I'm translating everything word per word. Lol. But I don't have problems with pronunciation, it's innate and it's in my blood. 💯
