HxC kid I’ve noticed that as well. I think it’s because of all the nostalgia of wanting the old Coheed style of music back. I see a lot of people commenting on different coheed videos saying how much they miss Good Apollo and IKS. To me, those records will always be around. Coheed is a band that is always changing and progressing, and that’s something that’s important to understand as a fan of the band.
YOTBR and Afterman albums are underrated if what you say is true. Even more so for The Afterman albums. CBTS isn't their best since it doesn't follow the storyline, but is still respectable enough.
They really should! I was into them early on and fell off after NWFT but after coming back to them last year, I can't believe how underrated they are in the rock world! They could hang with every band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in every aspect.. Unless I am missing something about them. Damn
Definitely one of the best songs on the album. "It's no suprise, nobody listens anymore. To what was said, to what we're saying." That chorus has been stuck in my head for the longest time.
The Afterman is another album which I can listen to the entire thing repeatedly and love every song on it. Both parts of it. Thank you for sharing your life's experiences in this form with your fans! I bought the Deluxe box-set and enjoy having the extra story to enhance and explain the lyrics. I'm excited about Mark Whalberg and Stephen Levinson picking up The Amory Wars for a live action production. Looking forward to whatever is next.
This band means so much to me...when I was a freshman in college I heard them for the first time and although they have rocked me both on album and live I will always be drawn to the song "Neverender" it is my anthem. I was very happy when they chose that as the name for their special concert series. Thank you Claudio!
Had the pleasure of hanging out with Claudio prior to a show in LA a few years ago. I totally expected him to be a pretentious douche, and he turned out to be one of the chillest, most interesting people I've ever met. Made me love the band even more than I already did.
But he's more than a musician really, he's a family man, artist, author, a creator, song writer, etc. Pretentious douche is the last thing I would assume. Just my opinion of course.
I met Keith out of the prodigy, chatted to him for 5 minutes, had no idea whatsoever who he was despite being a huge fan. He was so done to Earth and nice I didn’t put two and two together.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time and Claudio is a genius, but I'm sorry. I couldn't focus on anything but Claudio's beautiful hair in this video.
Dear Claudio, Please don't OD and die. Your music is far too good for you to leave us early. I would like to still be getting new albums from you for a long time. Thanks for your time.
At first I was upset by how short Ascension was, but then the whole album was awesome and then I remembered that part two is coming out in a few months which makes everything better.
I thought I was the only one. There aren't many bands that I completely respect enough to always pay for their music, and only one that I will take the time to drive an hour to the nearest decent record store to buy a physical copy. Coheed is that band.
This really has nothing to do with this album but I love Claudio, I love Coheed and Cambria, I've just never shared this on social media but when I discovered In keeping secrets of silent earth 3 my fiance at the time and myself used to drive around Jacksonville, Florida and scream what we thought were the lyrics ( lol ) smoking weed and just falling so deep in love with this band and that album...it will always be on my mind in memories, being some of my most favorite times so far.......
This is the only band remaining that I still to this day, in this era of downloadable content; still go to a record store and buy their albums.. and I own every one of them.
Well the story bits for this album were written in full as a companion piece to the deluxe edition (im sure you could find scans somewhere). YOTBR has an accompanying novel that you could probably get on Amazon, and both SSTB and In Keeping Secrets comics have been written in full and collected in trade paperbacks, also probably on Amazon. Good Apollo 1 had a graphic novel, but it's hard to find, and not considered canon anymore. He's still working on the official GA1 and No World comics.
you do realize that the whole reason he wrote the amory wars was cause he was insecure about directly writing about his experiences, hes said that in an interview so hes been writing things that happen in his life the whole and combinding it into the story. almost all of the good apollo album is about her too
In fact, Claudio said it himself, not this cd but the ones before it. Arent all necessarily about the story. From Second Stage to No World as far as I know. Justice in Murder is actually about his grandma having alzheimers and it affecting their family. One example. So Eric to be simple, everything he writes is quite personal. Feel it as if its your own emotions. Cuz though it may be a story it is his heart and mind giving life to his emotion.
ittyandpocky is correct; however, it should be noted that "Sirius'" last name is Amory. He's the man who discovered that the Keywork was composed of the souls of the dead, and therefore the universe of the Amory Wars is named after him. However, The Afterman's story is a prequel predating the Kilgannons' by a fairly long time.
You realize you change when you're married. Having a significant other is, how can I put this... significant to a person. He'll keep writing, playing, a striving to continue driving Coheed forward.
This is over a decade old. I guess i'm only saying that because i've been sleeping on their creativity and style. When I first heard "Welcome Home," I was like "this is dope, kinda like Tenacious D - The Metal level of epicness." The only other song I knew of was The Suffering. It wasn't until "Window of the Waking Mind" came out until I started listening to them. That is now my favorite of theirs along with The Afterman. I'll admit, I have an ear for more progressive, cool, and novel sounding music than "the classics." My favorite band is Animals as Leaders, currently, and that's mostly because I love drums and Matt Garstka is idek. I just wish that my favorite releases from C&H were available in HQ 24-Bit, 88.2 kHz like The Unheavenly Creatures is on Qobuz. Vaxis isn't bad at 48 kHz but Afterman is only 16-Bit CD, 44.1. I mean it's all relative at the end of the day -if you don't care about quality, then don't train yourself to notice the noise.
Domino and Vic are both pretty heavy. That being said, I think the next half of the album will be heavier overall. Sentry the Defiant is definitely a heavy song in full band.
Holy crap. Ive been listening to this album since it first came out but i just now realized its called the afterMAN. I thought it was afterMATH this WHOLE TIME. my mind is blown. Guess i should read closer lol
As much as I genuinely enjoyed that interview and it was awesome to learn where those songs got their meaning in reality, I would love to know the story behind them as they play in his fiction. I have never read it; I can't really find it anywhere around where I live and everythwere it's available online it's outrageously priced. I've also been told he hasn't exactly written this far into his stories yet? If someone could point me in a direction where I can find all of this info, I'll love you.
No, it all has a plot with Sirius going into space and being possessed by souls from the Keywork, but the inspiration for the individual songs was the events in his real life. The Amory Wars has always been like that. Newo Ikkin, Claudio Kilgannon's girlfriend, is named after Nikki Owen, Claudio Sanchez's old flame. Events in Good Apollo I were inspired by his breakup with her. etc. There's always real life experiences that influence where the story goes.
I don't know where you got this. I wasn't aware we are degrading each other. I saw an interview this February and Danny Carey confirmed a new album so that point falls. On a decline is quite funny considering they still have an extremely strong fan base. With that note think about this the youngest member is Justin, every member is 40+ almost in the 50's. (Danny being the exception). With that Maynard specifically said in an interview he doesn't want to scream the rest of his life. What this
The fact that he writes such a complicated sci fi -ish concept album with all these characters and to then find out all songs are based on real life persona moments is pretty crazy. Inspiring!
Hes the dude that does Final Fantasy's music isn't he? I haven't really heard anything other than that. If sounds anything like Coheed tho, I'm in! lol
I think it's beautiful how important she still is to him and how much they are a part of each other's lives. His love for his wife, both the ups and downs of their relationship, really shine through in his work, and give a certain raw humanity to it.
Most lyricists write about what is going on in their lives, and his wife is a very important part of his life. It's not all ABOUT his wife, but a lot of the subject matter relates to her.
ow creeps is cyrus the afterman and the one searching for him is his computer in the afterman trailer..claudio stated: "to keep his wife alive" that means the computer is his wife
clearly shows is he moves on as an artist. He's not a sell-out just coming out with Bullshit records and tours for money. So with just that both your points have failed. If you would like to further discuss this you can move it to musicbanter or any other forum based site. The comments made were unnecessary. Thanks.
What does them sounding like another band have to do with anything? I made no mention of that. I love Coheed.... been listening to them since 2001. I've never hated anything they've ever done. I love this album, even though it is my least favorite. (been listening to it on repeat on my way to and from WORK for a few weeks now.) Therefore, what ever you were trying to say is invalid....... I think. It had nothing to do with what my comment was..... I mean, at all.... get over yourself, dude.
This band doesn't nearly get as much recognition as they should.
HxC kid I’ve noticed that as well. I think it’s because of all the nostalgia of wanting the old Coheed style of music back. I see a lot of people commenting on different coheed videos saying how much they miss Good Apollo and IKS. To me, those records will always be around. They could hang with every band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in every aspect.. Unless I am missing something about them. Damn
Thats very true
I realize it's quite off topic but does anyone know of a good site to stream new series online?
i seriously love Claudio and his creative mind.
That's why his hairs so big. It's full of songs. Lol
Definitely one of the best songs on the album.
"It's no suprise, nobody listens anymore. To what was said, to what we're saying."
That chorus has been stuck in my head for the longest time.
I really really want them to do descension track by track as well!
The Afterman is another album which I can listen to the entire thing repeatedly and love every song on it. Both parts of it. Thank you for sharing your life's experiences in this form with your fans! I bought the Deluxe box-set and enjoy having the extra story to enhance and explain the lyrics. His voice is soooo much lower than his singing voice!! I love it!
This band means so much to me...when I was a freshman in college I heard them for the first time and although they have rocked me both on album and live I will always be drawn to the song "Neverender" it is my anthem. I was very happy when they chose that as the name for their special concert series. Thank you Claudio!

Why would you expect that?
But he's more than a musician really, he's a family man, artist, author, a creator, song writer, etc. Pretentious douche is the last thing I would assume. Just my opinion of course.
I met Keith out of the prodigy, chatted to him for 5 minutes, had no idea whatsoever who he was despite being a huge fan. He was so done to Earth and nice I didn’t put two and two together.
That's awesome! Totally what I've pictured in my head for him to be, the cool dude part lol
You see? That's proof... Josh is a very important piece of Coheed.
That's amazing...one of my favorite songs from the album was written when Claudio was drunk...goes to show you how amazingly talented this man is!!!
i always love hearing the personal side of the song's creation, right from the artist's mouth. it makes me very happy.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time and Claudio is a genius, but I'm sorry. I couldn't focus on anything but Claudio's beautiful hair in this video.
Dear Claudio,
Please don't OD and die. Your music is far too good for you to leave us early. I would like to still be getting new albums from you for a long time.
Thanks for your time.
THE BEST BAND IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!
Suscribe to my TH-cam channel
Sooo glad Josh Conquered what he needed to and rejoined the band. I missed the flavor he gave to the band.
Cant wait for the Second part of this double album. I've listen to hours of this one. MUST HAVE SECOND PART!!
Coheed really has no bad song.
Forget the Amory Wars movie. I want to see a musical.
"I wasn't even that drunk!" haha Claudio! I was impressed when he was talking about the broad-way scene just pop up in his head
You're not the only one man, I happily support these awesome people :) such good music! Couldn't help but get the live DVD's too :D
This is the only band remaining that I still to this day, in this era of downloadable content; still go to a record store and buy their albums.. and I own every one of them.
I haven't stopped listening to this album since I got it!!

You and me both. Have you heard the new Inferno? It's pretty awesome.
Billboard, please do one of these for Descension as well! If you have already, I cannot seem to find it.
Sirius Amory is mentioned on the first comic book.
He makes it seem like everything in his life is so epic. Guy in bar. EPIC. Creepy Twitter stalker. EPIC. I don't get to be home much. fucking... EPIC!
ittyandpocky is correct; however, it should be noted that "Sirius'" last name is Amory. God I would honestly pay to just listen to Claudio's views on life... This man is so damn deep.
Imo, yes. I think Hollywood is one of my favorites of the album. It's just so dirty and awesome sounding.
Anyone else realize just how much Claudio looks like Weird Al in the video thumbnail?
I'm blasting Mothers of Men!!! Thank you, Claudio
i have them all and this is one of the best
Only downside is waiting until February for the studio version of Sentry the Defiant.
Domino and Vic are both pretty heavy.
That being said, I think the next half of the album will be heavier overall. Sentry the Defiant is definitely a heavy song in full band.
@skrysix it was actually goodnight fair lady. vic the butcher was from an altercation claudio almost had. everything else though i agree with.
Holy crap. Ive been listening to this album since it first came out but i just now realized its called the afterMAN. I thought it was afterMATH this WHOLE TIME. my mind is blown. Guess i should read closer lol
Also, Claudio posted short videos explaining the mythos behind the album on the OfficialCoheed TH-cam Channel.
i love the explanationf or goodnight fair lady
He's a pretty cool guy.
I'm glad I am not the only one who thought Subtraction would be a Prize Fighter song
yes, hes wife also works on his comic book as well
As much as I genuinely enjoyed that interview and it was awesome to learn where those songs got their meaning in reality, I would love to know the story behind them as they play in his fiction. The fact that he writes such a complicated sci fi -ish concept album with all these characters and to then find out all songs are based on real life persona moments is pretty crazy. Inspiring!
Itll probably be something like the Feathers video.
they all do its the prequel about finding the keywork and how tortured souls are used to power it
Hes the dude that does Final Fantasy's music isn't he? I haven't really heard anything other than that. If sounds anything like Coheed tho, I'm in! lol
Afterman: The Musical
they are a concept band everything has a story this does involve the Armory wars. It's about Syrus Armory and discovery of the keywork
He has the same shoes as me!
He didn't say what Evagria was about. He just said what he used to make the song.
Claudio himself has even said the lyrics aren't entirely submerged into the concept, you don't have to take it with the concept intact.
this album is just EPIC
Glad I'm not the only one in that boat.
my wife my wife and oh my wife!
I think it's beautiful how important she still is to him and how much they are a part of each other's lives. His love for his wife, both the ups and downs of their relationship, really shine through in his work, and give a certain raw humanity to it.

Matthew Leisher now, his son is a part of his life now :)
BATmAnsGURL0112 And he has a song, Atlus, written about him it's so beautiful
It makes me cry and is now my favorite song already
ow creeps is cyrus the afterman and the one searching for him is his computer in the afterman trailer..claudio stated: "to keep his wife alive" that means the computer is his wife
this might be my favorite fucking video on youtube
Did you not even listen to Claudio in this video?
God fucking bless you Claudio
so no song on this album has anything to do with the c&c story?
It's as if a 'touch' of madness is necessary to achieve genius.
It's in the same universe this is just the very beginning of discovering the keywork. Same author writing, same universe, same vision. Expansion.
What is the song in the intro?
whoa he sounds WAY different when he talks
Subtraction is probably the only song on the album where I like the demo more than the actual song.
Yeah, there's that too, but they're heavy metal which isn't very Coheed. I think his standard compositions are more similar to Coheed.
MoM almost didn't make the record
:O
My God. His hair is beautiful.
So the majority of the album has nothing to do with the Amory Wars?
chondra is a very lucky woman
who is cyrus i didnt read about him in amory
mohammed issa it’s spelled Sirius
Check out Marty Friedman during the 90's.
ow yes he was one the guy tinkering the keywork
Doesn't anyone else wanna see a Goodnight, Fair Lady music video? The whole "broadway musical" deal would be a great theme
I was thinking the same thing. That would be so fucking sick!
I will be sorely disappointed if this doesn't happen. It could be kind of a twisted version of the Favor House video.
clearly shows is he moves on as an artist. He's not a sell-out just coming out with Bullshit records and tours for money. So with just that both your points have failed. Thanks.
the thought that Mothers of Men might not have made the album actually scares me a little :P
Makes you wonder how many other gems havent been on other previous albums :(
What does them sounding like another band have to do with anything? I made no mention of that. I love Coheed.... been listening to them since 2001. I've never hated anything they've ever done. Sentry and also Iron Fist is on it!!!
Mike Todd: The Destitute. dang bro.
c and c is BEAST
If there is a God..I would imagine he is basically Claudio.
Listen to TOOL?
Well Said.
That's a good call.
lol, same here, I pointed that out to my cousin who let me borrow his aftermath and he laughed
Vic the butcher. the titla reminds me of Al the killer
Me too mate, me too.
