it is definitely not overacting. You have to watch the entire papanasam movie to understand this scene. In papanasam, Kamal did not just emotionally break in this scene. He is an emotional char from the beginning of the movie, he cries in many scenes where Mohan lal did not cry (Cries for Pasamalar Movie at the beginning). The take on Mohan Lal brilliance is that "A guy who is determined to hide a murder cannot be weak. And so doesn't emotionally break." That's all. Kamal took it otherwise, "A guy can be both emotional and dare to hide a murder from police for the safety of his family." Both brilliant. Case Closed.
