Wonder if this could be done with a normal neckline as it would be much thinner than turtle neck . I dislike high round necks .

The jumper looks lovely. When altering any knitted fabric I always see two rows of zigzag stitching before cutting. You can then cut between the zigzag lines without any danger of the fabric running.I do the same with neckbands and any knitted fabric left over so I can use it again. This allows you to handle the fabric with more confidence.

I think it’s brilliant Jayne. I need to go thru my wardrobe and tweak the things I don’t like so they get some wear. They just sit there unworn and it’s too bad. Too long. Too short. Too big. Too small. I can try to make them just right. 😊👌🏼

Loved this!!!! Thank you very much for a lovely video tutorial. As my hubby bought me these long turtle neck sweater dresses that I just do not care for as I am petite, also had neck surgery, so I do not care to have anything on my neck. As well as I am claustaphobic so wearing this makes me feel choked. I sew many things, so this was just a wonderful help. Thank you.

Thank you for this instructive video. I've done a similar process with turtle necks on shirts made from jersey and t-shirt fabric, but I'm nervous about the sweater in case it starts to unravel on me! I wonder what you think about using a double needle afterwards to keep the new seam down and give the neck a more professional finish? Do you think it would cause too much stretching?

Jayne, Thank you so much! I have a top I made with a funnel neck that just doesn't look good on me. I'm going to modify the top the same way you did. Thank you again.

Mine got a polo neck but it is with a zipper. it is very loose when i zip it all up. maybe my neck is to thin, any ideas how to fix it from being so loose and hang over the chest almost? Thanks and Merry Christmas!

If it has a metal zipper, especially a large one, it will weigh too much and hang down. Maybe you could replace the zipper with a plastic zipper. A fine, light one will pull down less from the neckline.
