Didn't realize this was a 2010 movie; thought it was one of the old ones. But thankfully, they were able to choreograph it like the old styles...grt martial arts...stunning

The choreography on this 2010 movie is mediocre, the Eagle Claw style the villain uses has devolved from the old ones where more elbows and knees in close range fighting were used which could've given the villain Collin Chou here a bit of advantage. On the other hand, the girl played by Bai Jing lacked enough grappling and joint manipulation skills that could've ended the villain much quicker through joint breaks as his arms would be rendered useless. That was why "The Raid" films from Indonesia was made as Silat displayed from the main heroes and villains played by Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian had all the techniques from grappling to kicking. This 2010 movie directly inspired director Gareth Evans of The Raid films to make their choreography more realistic, skilled, fast paced and more savage compared to this one.
Unfortunately, Silat, a Malayan martial art is still severely underrated compared to Kung Fu from China.

@@erichall8866 Yep, indeed. Wu Dang 2013 movie starring Yang Mi was one attempt but it was too platitudinous as well as frequently slow paced and the plot was inconsistent compared to The Raid films which emphasized more pragmatic and intense sequences which is why everybody loved that film yet it was so underrated. Bottom line is: people who watched kung fu movies and this 2010 Wing Chun movie most likely hasn't seen The Raid films of Indonesia and vice versa.

I had a direct and covert conversation with The Raid films director Gareth Evans specifically regarding the choreography of his movie fights. I watched this Kung Fu Wing Chun 2010 movie several times and at the same time, I'm an enormous The Raid movie fan so I watched and compared both very closely dozens of times. Therefore, I was able to spot strikingly similar fight sequences and techniques in both movies prior to meeting the director so I immediately brought this up to him and surprisingly, he promptly and enthusiastically related to me, saying that he consistently watches older kung fu movies, especially underrated and unpopular ones like "The Woman Avenger" and of course, he closely watched this modern "Gung fu Wing Chun 2010" movie in a discrete matter and told me he decided to take it's choreography on his own hands, inspired by the durability and relentlessness of the Eagle Claw Villain (Collin Chou) here and he took his traits to create the more refined, skilled and savage villain Mad Dog (Yayan Ruhian) in The Raid: Redemption.
Also, he told me that the 2 on 1 fight in this Wing Chun 2010 movie (Bai Jing and Shaoqun Yu against Collin Chou) was lame due to the one-sided techniques on the characters (lack of knees and elbows by Collin Chou while there is lack of grappling by Bai Jing) and lack of chemistry in the fighting except just sheer love, slow motion and too much childish emotion and rage on the girl's part so he decided to refine and improve this particular and unpopular movie in a more savage and realistic fashion to his The Raid: Redemption movie (with Iko Uwais and Donny Alamsya against Mad Dog, respectively, incorporating fighting techniques of all ranges from grappling to kicking).
Lastly and most interestingly, Gareth told me that the final fight scene in this movie where Bai Jing attempted to finish Collin Chou with that ridiculous finger strike to the neck, only to wake up and cowardly tried to take her with him in the fall without even bothering to use close range weapons of elbows, Gareth told me he was so obsessed on improving that "lame" scene so he incorporated that into The Raid where Andi stabbed Mad Dog in the exact same spot on his neck, only this time, Mad Dog got angry and raged like Bai Jing did but in a far more epic and savage action until he was finished by that throat slit. He then exclaimed: "Bai Jing should've finished Collin Chou with more punches to the neck to make sure its completely broken or just strangled his windpipe and squeezed in there for dear life to make sure he gags to death and doesn't come back to try to drag her down the cliff!"
Hahaha! That really got me turned on and Gareth told me I was the ONE AND ONLY person in his life to ever ask him about the comparison of the choreography of this Kung Fu Wing Chun 2010 to his The Raid movies, hence the only reason why I am the only person he ever spoke about the comparison to since most other people who watched The Raid would never have watched Kung Fu Wing Chun 2010 and vice versa. He concluded that "You have the sharpest, martial arts choreography eyes in the history of any martial arts movie fan! Props to you, friend!"
I will never forget that moment with him so for the first time, people, I get to share this unique experience with you all!

Yayan Ruhian is far more epic! He took that neck stab with a light bulb shard like a boss and continued fighting with rage and anger! If the Wing Chun girl stabbed him in the throat with her finger strike there, she would only piss him off so much and he would straight up decimate her with his punches, elbows (which Collin Chou did not even bother throwing once in this scene) and kill her with his neck crank as she does not have the durability of Iko Uwais (Rama) and his brother Andi!

@@MusikPiratCH Do you know the final fight scene of this Wing Chun 2010 movie directly influenced the final fight scene of The Raid: Redemption movie where both the respective villains (Collin Chou and Mad Dog) fought two people, endured hundreds of punches and kicks, had their heads smashed into a wall and were both stabbed in the same spot on their necks and continued to fight, except Mad Dog continued on more savagely and with honor!
The Raid: Redemption final fight scene was certainly an improvement over this Wing Chun 2010 final fight scene and I wonder how Mad Dog, being more badass than Collin Chou would fare against Michelle Yeoh!

The fight is too lame; not a single elbow or knee thrown by that Eagle Claw villain...not even bothering to throw oblique kicks or round kicks to the legs. He relied too much on long range kicks, palm strikes and those silly claws when he had plenty of opportunity to throw elbows and knees in close range fighting!
In the girl's part, she did not even bother to grapple, attempt takedowns when she had a great opportunity where she could finish him on the ground or even trying to break his arms when he just leaves it out there after striking unlike the snapping punch of a Western boxer which would be more difficult!
"The Raid: Redemption" final fight scene is definitely a vast improvement and a direct refinement to the choreography of the final fight scene of this Kung Fu Wing Chun 2010 movie.

    • @krevanlarkos132
      @krevanlarkos132 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Ok, ok dude. I agree with your insight and the fight scene is indeed lame, stupid and childish that the girl could've just gotten herself killed twice and the Raid: Redemption did incorporate joint breaks by Iko Uwais which would of finished that Eagle Claw villain halfway through this fight but why such a predominantly negatory judgement?
The actress Bai Jing died so give her some credit and the director of this Wing Chun 2010 movie is to blame for such a feisty and childish, raging girl but hey, this movie has inspired director Gareth Evans to create Mad Dog and all the crazy and gritty action scenes in The Raid films so without this movie, The Raid as it is would never have happened so learn to appreciate some hard work done as it has a tremendous domino effect output!

Hehah, Lyte Burly would end this Collin Chou guy in seconds, first knocking him down with a real, leveraged boxing shot then out grappling him with his superior Wing Chun skills which is what 52 blocks is all about then subduing him without allowing him to fight, regardless of how much punishment he can endure!
That girl and the nun are never real persons: just myths created by Red Boat Opera Troupe where men were dressed as women while practicing their martial arts in the boats to dissuade the persecution of Shaolin by Manchus. Wing Chun was built by a community of people like 52 blocks, not from a single source like this woman and the girl right here who got their asses kicked by this lame ass Eagle Claw villain without assistance! Evidence is the key to validating the history of a martial art!
