Growing up there was Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, Page, Gilmore, and May. There was something about Blackmore. Something that attracted me to his guitar playing and the sounds he could create. He may not be the greatest guitarist, but he is definitely my favorite guitar hero of all time. 🎸
You always can tell it's Blackmore after a couple of notes.Even with a slide,you can tell it's Blackmore immediately. You could listen to 20 really good slide players and it would be hard to tell who was who, if you didn't know the song,but you can recognize Blackmore immediately.
I agree with this and note with just slides. Also there are the bends, staccatos, exotic note selections, classical touchs etc. It literally takes few seconds.
Maybe the greatest, yet most underated slide guitar player Ever. Contrary to southern blues players, Blackmore makes it like a wistful, moaning violin cello like voice. The playing both haunting & pinpoint accurate.

Makes me both sad and happy in equal measures. Happy that I have grown up idolising Ritchie and this wonderful tune but sad as I will never hear him play it again live as time has gone so quickly. Ritchie should be celebrated. All those guys we're good in the late sixties and seventies but I own more Blackmore music than the rest. I have been a fan since I was 9 years old. The In Rock album got me hooked in 1970. I think it's the best definition of what Hard Rock and I believe that album influenced the direction of the genra for years.

If anyone is unsure, this song is called 'Maybe Next Time' or 'Viellicht Das Nachste Mal' from Rainbow's "Difficult to Cure" Album. This particular version was played on the 1982 concert in San Antonio, Texas, from their live DVD, 'Live between the eyes'. Hope this helps

I love how people argue over opinions saying someone like Jimmy Page is better than Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix is aweful. That shit don't matter to them. Most artists are good friends and they tend to jam together and learn from each other. For instince, George Harrison helped Jimmy Page with the 'Rain Song'. Billy Gibbons taught Jimi Hendrix slide guitar. All artists back then were and still are amazing no matter what.
