I really wanted to be Yuki and her style really influenced mine. The anime does look disgusting tho lol what a waste, whereas the manga drawings are amazing. Please, if you do a Vampire Knight lookbook, follow the manga's outfits! With the furry huge hood princess coat, the combat boots, the uniform of course, and the many ribbony dresses and shoes that she wears.

It's so funny to me that the "sweater around the waist" thing now feels "dated" and "'90s" to people. 'Cause, for me, it just reads high school! 😆Granted, I did go to high school in the 2000s but, I definitely didn't tie my jacket/sweater around my waist to be stylish. I just grew up in Southern California where it's often freezing cold in the morning, blazing hot in the afternoon, and teachers always have the air conditioning cranked up way too high. (Plus, a lot of SoCal schools have open campuses, so the "hallways" and "lunch rooms" are all outside). So, as a teen going between classrooms, I was always taking layers on and off. The tying it at the waist was purely utilitarian. Just a way to avoid carrying it (and occasionally giving myself something to sit on in the grass for lunch). Pretty sure the trend started with SoCal teen skateboarders, who probably originally started doing it for similar reasons. So, although it's not "trendy" anymore in other states or countries, willing to bet you'll still catch Orange County middle school & high school kids tying jackets at their waist between classes. 😉😆 (I literally never did it again after high school since you don't really face that same scenario of constantly walking outside and inside into different rooms from early morning to afternoon without a significant break any other time in your life).

I now always have a really light lavender cardigan I can scrunch up in my big black circle crossbody. I love that bag purely because I can fit that cardigan in it, my wallet and yesterday I also could shove a T-shirt I bought in it. Anything to not ruin the outfit lmfao
I feel like places where the weather/temperature can change drastically throughout the day still do this, like for me in vancouver where it can be pouring rain when you wake up but by the time you get to where you need to be it’s cleared up and your coat isn’t really required anymore. Just practical!
I still do this for practical reasons sometimes. The place where I live doesn't have any crazy weather but it's still around 10°C warmer in the afternoon than in the morning or at night. So if I'm out all day I will put on an extra layer in the morning and take it off during the day. If it doesn't fit in my bag it goes around the waist. I don't think I've ever done it as a fashion statement though haha
Ooohh btw when you mentioned fairies, i wondered if you were ever into the Disney Fairies growing up? i'm referring to the original "generation" with the old art style, because i always found those illustrations so pretty. The way u completely revamped that stormi look was so cool! Just an idea but for the sleeves instead of tying them in the back on the outside u could have pulled them towards the inside of the dress like fake pockets and tucked them inside… but still amazed by ur ability to make anything look cool!!
