They only had enough in the budget to use the John Willilams score once, so they saved it for the ending scene so they had to use the generic Mark Snow score
Smallville swung and whiffed on its finale. From day one of the series the final scene of the show had to be Welling as Superman in full uniform rising before the camera to the iconic theme. Instead for a variety of reasons they botched it, not least Welling's own refusal to go on camera in the full uniform. The whole schtick of "no tights no flights" only works if you finally DO go on screen as full-fledged Superman, even if only for 30 seconds at the end of the show.
Man I was soooo torn when he didn’t put on the full suite. After 10 years we didn’t even get a full scene of what we all been imaging and hoping. Tom should have pulled for the fans. I personally always have that set back with Tom.
People still really just know his as Clark Kent cause he played him for so long.. he just should’ve warn the costume it would’ve only been in one scene and smallville just borrowed Superman returns costume. Ending was okay apart from that glad we got to hear the Superman score though that was great.

......actually that was Brandon Routh´s Superman Suit (Superman Returns!) maybe thats why the John Ottman score is on this scene mixign with the Classic original composed by a Genius like John Williams . Smallville series was marvelous in many ways and really make a wonderful homage to differents versions of Superman Character and at the same time integrates differents ideas of a wide aspects of the Superman World in comics, tv series, videogames and movies, since Wonderful Christopher Reeve (most iconic Superman) with margot kidder (lois lane) and Annette O´toole (lana lang Superman III) in the Classical begining of the 80ties Superman movies, through Dean Cain and Lane smith (starring in Lois and Clark tv series as Superman and Perry White) in the 90ties, to the idea of Super friends Cartoon in the 70ties (with the hall of justice vs legion of doom lead by lex special hidden place floor 33.1) plus Supergirl character (in smallville with laura vandervoort) and all the universe of videogames and comics with General Zod Alien AI (in the beginning of this new century).....

The theme they used was Louis Febre, not Mark Snow. Also, I thought Snow & Febre both created amazing pieces for the show

I think there was a bunch of legal issues, since Warner Bros owns DC and there was the movie Superman and Smallville Superman.
