what if i know little to nothing about the topic that i am practicing on for number three? do i have to read the topic first with the resources available to me and memorise the main concepts and formulas before doing a cold practice?
@@ap-qd9xfBest thing to do with any topic is just practice. You won't learn everything in 2 weeks but you can definitely see a difference if you put in the effort. Keep it up! Everyone starts somewhere.
I studied really hard for my math test the last 3 weeks before my final . After seeing his previous video that the math sorcerer mentioned, and it’s in fact possible to improve in just two weeks, especially if you focus on the fundamentals were you are behind on. I retook a test I did very badly on last semester and I passed 🙏. My biggest tip is to actively recall the steps in your head before you try to solve , and if you are stuck. Try to recall an example you’ve solved before. instead of looking at the answers, go back to another similar question and then try to solve it again. actively recall what you have worked on before you go to bed and early mornings would be my biggest recommendation.
If you're a Chess Geek, you're a "Natural" for Math AND Physics! The allowed moves in Chess are few, yet the game is extremely rich. In the same way, the Axioms of Mathematics and Fundamental Principles of Physics are very few compared to implications of those ideas.
that video of yours has inspired me a lot ngl and i wanna thank you for that. its kinda become a saying between me and my friend and weve started this challenge since a little less than a month to use 2 weeks fully dedicated on something. weve finished the discrete math syllabus (following your roadmap), and i honestly cant thank you enough for just giving me that kind of a green card to think like that. weve planned on using this mindset to get 27 topics, even outside of math, in 27 tweeks (thats what we call them LOL). thank you again!
being able to do math with no resources is something I really undervalued before. My calc 1 professor let us use our notes on our exams, and I got an A in that class. When I took calc 2, I wasn't allowed to use anything on the exams, not even a calculator. Just my brain and pencil. I barely got through that class, finishing with a C-. I changed my study habits in calc 3 and really tried to get better at memorizing the steps to solve problems, and I had a much easier time.
I’m not sure why trying to speed up the process is a good idea. In my experience, you need to use as much time as you need, to master each topic/problem. It’s time well spent to really get it, so you have a solid foundation for the next level. Yes - understanding the problem is paramount, and I agree with most everything he says after that. But I never spent a lot of time with a lot of books. Mostly I spent my time scribbling on paper trying different approaches to solving the problem. I went through mountains of paper, poking at the problem in as many ways as I could think of, until it finally yielded to me. I don’t think I ever gave up - this has been my greatest talent in life.
I could really use a video on how to not get overwhelmed. On how to manage when swarmed with courses, extra topics, books, problems practices etc. How to manage basically with the fact that our time is so finite and there is so much to study. Thank you so much for your work, you have no idea how much it means to me to hear your advice from time to time.
Master the Basics…this is so true. Im doing infinite series in Calc II right now, and am finding the difference between the students struggling with it and those who pick it up quicker is how strong their Algebra is. Not having to dedicate so much brain power to the computation itself frees you up to keep track of exactly what all the different tests actually tell you about the series in question.
To add to what you said about teaching my math professor told me if I really want to remember math to make videos explaining problems. It’s crazy how well I remember the things I explained.
when i was in 11th standard i was weak in maths i just got border marks, i was heartbroken and wanted to overcome it, all i did was got my basics right, memorised formulae and completed year of syllabus in 15-20 days, Maths needs practise thats it, its most interesting subject to me now Maths is addictive when you understand it
I would actually go so far to say that this logic could apply to any applied skill. “Learn how to do it cold. Without notes. That’s when you REALLY know the content”
Hi, I had a math test this week and I got a B. I know it's not the best result and that I could have done better, but the point is that 2 months ago I couldn't understand how my classmates were solving examples. I had a very big gap in math. I came across your channel and you talked about solving problems on your own and that's what I started doing every day. Now I don't feel lost in the classroom in algebra lessons, I solve problems but still have problems with difficult problems. Anyway, just thank you for your work, you really encourage students to learn math ❤
@@annadnlk1 hey ! you should be extremely proud of yourself. a B is amazing !!! and those two months of hard work truly paid off !! Keep it up and I’m sure you’ll get the results you want next time 💫
Math is the puzzle solver's never-ending dream. Just like in chess, there's no BS, it's all "on the board", the rules are clear, logical and inherently fair and, even moreso than chess, it trains the mind and will and can be applied to help solve an even greater puzzle: the structure of reality with its manifold facets.
I'm a 70 year old wrinkle pensioner. I believe mathematics is very important in our daily life. I therefore want to learn and develop myself in maths. At my age do you think I can do it?
You get better at anything by doing more of it. Get the math books, do the problems. Your know where you need to start in math as you fail or do well in the math. If you don't know how to do a problem like (2x+2)(x+1) or how to unfoil 2x^2+4x+2, then you probably need to start with prealgebra. If you don't know how to find h(x) h-2 using a graph, then you probably shouldn't start with calculus
Exactly. The only way to get good at anything is to keep doing it over and over. Especially when you suck at it. That just means you need to do it more. I think the biggest struggle is finding the motivation to do this, especially when you suck at it lol
Hi Math Sorcerer. 🙂 I'm so happy to have recently joined your channel. I'm a self studier who will soon get to Real Analysis and later Complex Analysis. I kind of want to start CA before I finish RA, like in the middle or something. What's your advice on that? Thanks.
If you practice it daily, you'll definitely notice a difference in two weeks. Even if its minimum. The only thing you can do is get better if you keep practicing.
