If you’re removing a good A pillar that will be reused, after removing the 3 plastic rivets, go from the windshield side with an angled trim tool (protect the windshield with a plastic scraper under the trim tool). Gently pry the 3 metal clips (as seen in the video) and the piece will release and can be used again. I followed the steps in this video and now have to order a ridiculously overpriced piece of plastic. The more you know 🌈 ⭐️
Like most people nowadays I re-used the trim after having to replace the windscreen. It took me a while to realise that the way to refit them is to take the metal clip off the windscreen A pillar, and place them onto their locations on the plastic trim. Also useful to masking tape the positions of the 3 clips either on the screen, or trim, so that you can exert extra force in just the right place.
Glad I found this today as I am putting my new windscreen finishers as well as the fresh air plenum cover that goes under the windshield wipers back on. The guys who replaced my windshield didn't have a clue and broke the plastic tabs that hold the metal clips under the finishers and my plenum was old and brittle and cracked letting rain water get into the vehicle. $450 for 3 pieces of trim and that's with my LR club 15% discount!
Hi Chris, I know this is an old reply. But did the Air plenum that runs along the bottom of the windshield let rain water in to the Cabin? Im chasing a leak..or 2 ; ) Ive found 2, But also think that water may come in where mine is cracked...right down the middle...
While I appreciate the tips this will really end up in a messed up install. If you notice he does not have the front ABS rain gutter cover on, this MUST go on before the A pillar cover. Check yours and you will see it fits behind this piece. But this is better than the rave manual alone. I wonder what they did after this, the clips usually break on an uninstall.
I had my windshield replaced. Now this trim and the windshield rubber molding (attached to this molding) are sticking out away from my windshield. I can put my fingers between the glass and this trim and rubber trim . I swear it is not supposed to be like that??
hey quick question. I have having issues with mine, after getting the new trim pieces on and riveted in, the rubber strip that sits on the windshield has a gap even though the 3 snap clips are secured to the A-pillar. Have you guys had issues with where the snap clips go being bent? When I purchased the truck the pillar covers were already missing.
hilarious - installing the trim is not this easy whatsoever. the clips underside do not match the body as easily as depicted, and you have to remove the rubber rain gasket in order to see and stretch the plastic moulding so the clips fit where they go.
Guys I love your "how to.. " videos, just two things..... I suggest to set the filming camera on a fixed focus to avoid all those annoying out-of-focus images and then to take more care of the position of the camera man, in this vid he should have moved from the actual position to the left so to show how it looks the A pillar from the other side of the open door, particularly during the positioning of the new moulding. One more, last, thing, when filming dark subjects (like the moulding on this vid) it would be much helpfull if the camera man could illuminate the area with spot light, the plastic rivets were almost invisible. BTW you do a great job and I'm thankfull to you and your efforts of sharing these "how-to..." pills. Today I'm gonna change the disc pads on my D2 according to your video instructions, thanks a lot and kindest regards from Florence, Italy
Thank goodness I found your video, I have been struggling to get this trim back in place for ages.
With your instruction 5 minutes , thank you.

Great vid, I've always struggled with these getting them on, didn't realise how simple it can be.

Thanks for the video, I will replace my windshield, I just did not want the glass company to remove the pillars, now I can remove them myself.

How do you take off the old metal spring clips that are still on the vehicle? I have tried. Is there a trick or tool? HELP?

don't have one of those vehicles in the stable currently, I'm afraid...

If you use trim removal tools, you can remove those trim clips. I did.
Thanks you bubbly
