The bit from 4:15 is SO important. It's so beneficial to think of chords as shapes with an associated sound. Thanks as always Justin, hope more people find the channel and realize that guitar is an accessible and rewarding hobby. The theory is interesting and a tool, but music that steps all over the rules is typically to me the most interesting ;)
11 months in from owning my ‘first’ guitar. Got the app, follow your website, YT etc yet still no closer to conquering F barre, let alone moving on. Ready to throw the guitar.
hey dude its not that hard tho just pull the guitar towards you when you about to strum and make sure you are pressing all the strings with the power of your thumb on the back and pull the guitar towards to you when strum
@@soundwalls1 if I pulled the guitar in any further, it will insert itself in me. I’ve managed to clearly ring each string, excluding the b. That has been my nemesis for the last few months. No matter how I hold it or the strength I use, b stays mute.
@@ananttiwari1337 I’m playing Fm#7 with a couple of songs but it’s not the same as barre F. I feel it’s important to learn barre chords, even if they kill you first. I won’t actually throw the guitar though……just feel like it most days. 🙂
You may need a better guitar. I had an old samick acoustic which was impossible. Now I have a Taylor and it is easier. I suggest start with B, then A, G . F close to the nut may be more difficult. May be worth letting the local guitar shop do a setup of the guitar so the action is correct.
Problem Justin. I have to use my little finger to play the mini bar for the "A" shape Major Barre chord. Hence it isn't available to use to play the SUS 4. I do believe that options are available but seem to vary dependant on the root. i.e. not movable.

There are many songs which don't use it. There are alternative ways to play the chord, and other similar chords exist. Don't throw your guitar out.

Good lesson.
Love it!
Awesome! 😊
Great stuff, Justin 🙂 How about "April Sun in Cuba" by Dragon (A4:x07750 and A:x07650)?
May I ask what your guitar is please? 🙏

I wanna watch you while jamming
Hi, picture shows second fret, whereas your playing is on third fret.
If go by the fret dots (first dot being the 3rd fret) then the picture is correct
No, you are reading the picture wrong. Justin is correct.
