    If you're a hardcore grouse hunter like I am, you probably hunt right up until the last day of the season. Late season grouse means they are big and fat and that there's probably snow on the ground. I found that once snow hits the ground, these birds really change their habbits. They can't feed on small plants, insects and eat little rocks of the roads so they tend sit on tree branches and eat what they can up there. A few good tips that I learned throughout the years are; Always look up in the trees. Hunt early mornings or a couple of hours before dark. Look for tracks and feces, those are usually signs that they are feeding around that area. If you see tracks don't be afraid to hop out and go explore. If you have a dog it makes things way easier ! Also, the chirping noise, listen for it and get ready to shoot. Happy hunting to you all !

    From one grouse/metallica fanatic to another, great video! I used to chase pheasants during the late season here in MN but grouse and woodcock have become my favorite birds to hunt. Its really frustrating but pretty cool how their behavior patterns change from early season to late season.

      Thank you! 😁I'd love to hunt pheasants ! We don't have those around here. I bet they taste great.

    Hey, man. I love your grouse videos. You capture great angles of the birds with your camera(which most channels fail to do). YOu deserve way more subs.

    I was actually grouse hunting yesterday and now my neck hurts by watching up in the trees all day. Missed what looked to be a tetras and got a small grouse male. Soup is cooking right now.
    Im hunting in zone 7.
    Keep the videos coming 👊
    What’s going to be your next hunt?

      Nice ! I hunt zone 1. I only seen a couple of spruce grouse(tétras) so far in my life. The first one I ever shot was a couple weeks ago. They're very tasty ! I want to try coyote hunting soon. Too many coyotes for the small deer population we have. Other than that I'll have ice fishing videos soon ! Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it 😁

    I have to admit, if I ever saw grouse poop, I had no idea what it was. 🙂
    You in Quebec somewhere? I’m in Montreal. I e only ever hunted in park Papineau Labelle, and it’s beautiful, but not so good for hunting. At least not late season anyway. I’m gonna go for some drives up north this summer to look for some logging roads. Thanks for the video.

    Why an extra full choke? Grouse are not very tough birds.

    • @JonTheOutdoorsman
      @JonTheOutdoorsman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mostly for range, I aim the top of the head so the choke keeps the pellets super tight so none of them hit the meat. I get better results doing this than using my 20 or 28 gauge
