By looking at this video, seen all over the inside, I learned on WD Detailing that there are some cleaners that could in a way to restore the beauty of this bus. Both RJ and Bret uses a ACP (All purpose cleaner) and a degreaser. And he also has a special iron decontaminating chemical. To detail the boot for the shift lever, here is an easy way to do it. Put the shift lever in 3rd gear to get the rear half of the boot and then shift to 4th gear to get the front half of it. I am not sure what polish he uses, but also Mitch from Detail Geek also has some polish as well. For this bus since it has the inward-outward door, you may want to close the door to get the rear leaf's inner part. The cool thing about an inward-outward is that to polish the exterior of the rear door leaf is that you can do it with the door open.
I was also at a City Hall Council meeting and was thinking of ways to improve transportation in my hometown, Kirkwood, MO. In today's world, most young people that are learning to drive hasn't seen the era when many people were taught how to shift. I told my city clerk that they could hire people that grew up in the era when many buses came with manual transmissions and they would be the ones to drive the buses.
I always liked the 'high roof' Thomas busses....rode in a number of those high roofs in my school days years ago....70's GMC 6000's, 70's International Loadstar and S series along with 70's into early 80's Ford's.
Special School District had an International Carpenter and it too was the Ultiramic bus. But Special District's was a 48-passenger but was tricked out to handle about I think about 36 passengers since it had a wheelchair lift located towards the back of the bus.
Love the doors and the functional door mechanism. By 1970 the one inside-one outside door action and the angled corner is super old fashioned.
