What a great interview! I’ve been teaching web programming for several years in high school and I have an interview to be an instructor with Fullstack Academy today and this really helped me get a feel for their process from a student’s perspective. Thank you!
Don, I realize this was almost 3 years ago, but at 30:18 discussing problems with career advisement area of full stack, you say "there are plenty of other cheaper coding bootcamps with great curriculums that people should consider." Is that still true today and if so, what are those in your opinion?
I'm taking this course in 6/7/2022. Still recommended? Also, I have Virtualbox installed on my laptop. Is there anything special needed besides installing Linux?
@@GaryIV it was great ! They’ll teach you everything you need to become employable. It can be a little intense, but it’s worth it. We focused on Full-stack development JavaScript and NodeJs. Building projects ,deployment, Data structure and algorithms. Hope my answer it’s helpful 🙂
great interview, was very helpful, thankyou I have been interested in fullstack academy for a year now, thinking of joining next year. After the pandemic. I wish to study on campus. But I'm facing some troubles to get there. I'm from India, In order for me to study in USA, I have to get student visa, In order to get the student visa I should have I-20 form. Because Fullstack academy is not SEVP certified they do not provide I-20. Hence I can't get a student visa. My other option would be to come in visit visa, If I do so I cannot get a job in USA. please help me with my dilemma, I'm trying to find somebody who went through my situation. If there is a way around please let me know
You're asking the wrong person (me). I'm not very knowledgeable about student visas. Who knows, maybe someone will come by your comment and be able to provide you some advice though. Good luck!
I would just post a new comment next time. The conversation can be confusing when you edit the original message that much. Neither is "better". Both are different, and you need to do the research to figure out which one is right for you. Watch both videos; check out reviews on coursereport.com for each; and then decide which one you're going to take a chance on.
Any chance you would revisit this with people who have been part of a recent cohort of Fullstack? It's hard to find stuff out there ever since they were acquired. Is it true the founders left the company? Really hoping to learn more about the quality of the program in it's current state.
So now Fullstack is inside some colleges, I’m actually looking into participating in the UNF cohort, those are easier to get accepted into, which I’m not sure if it’s good or bad. You only get an instructor after during Junior and Senior fase…. Picking a Bootcamp is turning into: which one sucks less 😩
This interview seems like a mostly positive review. But your thumbnail "What happened to..?" suggests a decline in quality. Can you provide more clarity? Is the major pain point with Fullstack just the inconsistent career services, or something more?
Just listened to the part where you discussed the turnover with full-time instructors. Imagine this is the other major problem (perhaps equally or more important than the career services issue).
Hmm. Sorry for posting the question before listening to the full interview. Seems like the main headline is Fullstack is now prioritizing scaling over quality (in terms of admissions, instructors, and career services). That about sum it up?

I haven't yet decided if I want to do any follow up reviews with the same coding bootcamps, but I'll keep Fullstack Academy in mind if I do.

No worries. Yeah, I think you summed up my main concern pretty well. That's what I got out of hearing all of their experiences as well.
