Fun fact: Alpharad’s emerald randomizer nuzlocke is a reverse fake nuzlocke where in the original run he actually did sweep the game with groudon, but he intentionally reseted it to die on someone else’s groudon for a better video narrative. he mentioned it when reacting to poke challenges reacting to his nuzlockes because jan noticed that in a clip, he had an evolved pokemon that didn’t evolve in the run. Anyways it did make for a better video because it’s boring to see someone sweep the game with a legendary
this reminds me of the fact that several peoples carriers would've not been possible if jaiden didnt make the nuzlocke video like shes the reason nuzlocked became more mainstream and all also perfect timing to release this, i started my second nuzlocke today, already the same amount of deaths in this one as in my first nuzlocke, even before the first gym!
I nuzlocke, and when i do them i have a twist on the Shiny Clause. That being the following: if the player encounters a shiny in a route where a pokemon was already caught, the shiny can only be used if the player releases the original caught pokemon in that area. Actively Shiny hunting is still banned, but if random shiny encounter via grind session, this clause can be triggered. I just refer to it as Modified Shiny Clause. If you have a better name for this twist on the Shiny Clause go ahead and reply to this with the idea.
a hardcore nuzlock in usum is almost impossible for a different reason. you get your starter pokémon in rout 1 so can’t get a second until rout 2. this means that the schoolteacher is almost impossible to beat. the next challenge is that it’s almost impossible to adhere to lvl caps on the first island. you get too much xp
Personally, I knew what Nuzlockes were back in 2014 (my sister vaguely described the concept to me, then I found the Bulbapedia article). I didn't start one until 2015 or so, but I never finished it (somehow I got "bored" of it). I actually started and finished a Nuzlocke for the first time in 2018, after seeing my older brother start one.

I am honestly really surprised you didn't cover Riggerz in this video. He is a pretty infamous person in the nuzlocke community, he gatekeeps nuzlocking as a whole saying that the only games like Emerald Kaizo are "true" nuzlockes. He is the person behind the Nuzlocke Validation Council, who decides if nuzlockes are "valid" or not, he was one of the main people behind the Slowbrogate controversy and was the one who pushed it to be such a big deal. He has also accused other nuzlockers like Gian, Drxx and Jo_Ferr of cheating. The entire Nuzlocke community memes this guy often with stuff like "It's may be your run but it's always Riggerz' rules". Though their is also a worse side to all of this as this guy also has some really awful views about Trans people and more.
I lnew about Nuzlockes before Jaiden's video but i didn't really understand them and j thought they were done. It was because of her that decided to try them out and i had a lot of fun (until the 2nd 3rd gyms)

19:30 sort of a hot take, but if adding rules like that for your first run would make it better than go ahead as long as you don’t pretend. Mentions a level clause for a specific Hardcore Nuzlocke, clause, doesn't mention Dupes Clause lol based Dupes (Duplicates)/Species Clause: if you catch a Pokémon , and encounter that same Pokémon on a different route as your first encounter, you may choose to attempt to catch the next Pokémon that has not yet been caught. No one wants 6 Rattata on a team because that's all you encountered Species clause bans catching the same Pokémon of an evolution line in addition to Dupes Clause. Dupes Clause is optional generally, so if I want 5 rattata and that pidgey I also rerolled for, great! But it can get boring with 3 Gyarados, so you only get 1 max
It's possible (but still unlikely) he was making a different change and accidentally randomized IVs as well. For example, when you're too lazy to go to Fallarbor Town to use a heart scale, you can just PKHex the move onto your mon and trash the heart scale when you load back in.
And then theres me who decided to mostly solo with popplio to beat the game faster and used pokemon refresh. Ultra necroma became easy with an overleveled primarina.
Doung a Nuzlocke is being a bad trainer nickname them to make them feel good but if they aren't strong enough abandon them and don't give them enough time to get strong and don't heal them if they are hurt.
