Following Keenan ! Thanks man! Yah she’s a German tank haha. You know anything the Germans build is over built to the moon haha. Look at the Bismarck 😂 Just gonna start by changing all the fluids/maintenance work and go from there, it’s a real good runner tho and I can’t wait to really put it to work hard.
@kd78orangerangerpete the fuses on mine were behind one of the A-pillars.. it was either on the backside of the left side or right side pillar I believe
@kd78orangerangerpete wow man I’m sorry to hear it caught fire! Did you know this was a very common issue with these machines? Mine had actually caught fire at one point as well and that’s why I got it so cheap, these machines were known for it as something in the wiring was faulty.. I would talk to your Insurence company again cuz that’s bull crap.. if they do some investigating they will see that these machines burned down ALOT.. if you just search the machine on Google images you’ll find a bunch that were burned to the ground. I would have them look into it if you could but either way it’s def worth fixing as mine was still a good runner after it caught fire. I had to replace/fix the main wiring harness, the starter, hydraulic lines, and a few other things on it along with getting the engine running right again
@kd78orangerangerpete why don’t you go on like and find the manual for it? That’s what I did for mine, I found the entire manual and printed it out stapling it together .. and these GEHLs burn down more than any other skidsteer In my eyes which tells me there is a design flaw somewhere
Bill,After you get the maintenance complete find yourself a bucket or better yet a grapple and get yourself a snow plow for it.From my point of view the hydraulic system has good response. However check the hinge pins going to the frame.I think that you got a diamond in the rough! Ken
Thankyou! And thanks for watching Ken! Setting it up with a nice pushbox was my original plan so I could do some commercial plowing with it but unfortunately didn’t have a large enough truck and trailer to tow it around with so I actually ended up trading the GEHL for a 99 Cummins turbo diesel ram 2500.. truck blue booked for around 10k so I couldn’t say no but I do miss my skidsteer! Check out my other videos you’ll be able to see the cummins I traded it for
Go with plexiglass if it gets cloudy hit it with car polish will make em or keep em lookin new cuz glass cleaner wont work on plexiglass. I always used a light car polish on golf carts plexiglass n just buff em real good same with most car headlights.
Great man thanks for the tip.. yah plexi scratches real easy its def one of the downsides to plexi which was why i was also considering using lexan cuz lexan wont scratch like plexi but does cost a lot more to buy.
If I had the money Id go with a diesel as well but for my purpose of mainly pushing snow I dont really need a diesel the other thing in cold climates u have to worry about diesel gelling so fuel heaters can be worth their weight in Gold at times not sure skid steers have that issue compaired to trucks cuz u radiator is in the rear I think you got a good deal!
The skidsteer was great while I had it, are you the guy who sold it to me? I ended up doing a full service to it and fixing a bunch of stuff on it, I also repainted portions of it to get it to look alot nicer and also repainted the entire cage on it. I fixed a bunch of grease fittings and got the engine running awesome.. I then decided to trade it for a mini excavator that woulda been more useful for me but at the last second a guy contacted me wanting to trade his Cummins pickup for it.. I jumped on it because at the time I desperately needed a new work vehicle.. something that could actually haul things with out issue.. I also always wanted a Cummins diesel truck so I went with that. It was one of the best choices I ever made as I love my pickup truck and I’ve used it on all my side jobs since and as my new daily driver. Hope you’re doing well buddy!
Haha yep I was just about to say that.. in a later video I explain what happened to the skidsteer and why I traded it. It was nice while I had it though.. some day I’ll get another one.. I really want to find a nice mini excavator first tho, as that’s still a big goal of mine to pair with my tractor. Thanks Jtwizzle
@@Jtwizzle I totally agree! I’ve been looking st those Chinese excavators for the last few years.. lots of new dealers popping up in my area too.. that’s prolly gonna be the rout I’ll go cuz for the money you just can’t beat it.. I’d like to get a diesel version tho not a gasser.. I hate to give China any more of our American money but when prices are as high as they are these days in America you really don’t have much choice. Hopefully we can get back to building things cheap in our own country again some day.
I guess 2 each their own Ive also heard transmission fluid loosens up engines that have sat for long periods of time. I bought an old 280zx 5 speed w 250 miles on it for 1500 bucks I used the slick 50 on that car cuz it had 250K miles not a real problem though with nissans n toyotas my problem was the clutch n parts were hard to find I junked it nothing wrong w the engine that in line 6 then about 6 months later Nissan sent me a parts catalog I could have ordered anything they go for ever just do ur maintenance!. the Nissan issue was mostly they rusted out so bad. I was lookin at a cheesy Lahman for 2500 bucks only 600 lb lift capacity but 20-22 hp gas motor would be fine for moving snow long as the hydrolics are good. My fav was a 4000lb military RT rough terrain pneumatic tire forklift center articulating! I looked they are very hard to find I think they were made by case I used the hell out of that thing when I was in the army as well as 6K and 10K forklifts as well I worked in warehouses and major assembly yards, engines transmissions, axles, in Germany. I was in the peace time army under Reagan best president besides Trump trumps not a war monger we need to get out of the WAR business anyway.
Hey my friend! Great video , i have a question, i have. Gehl 6640 turbo 2003 and i wanted to know if the radiator is cooled by hydraulic or motor oil ? Pls help me thank you so much ! 🙏🏽
Thanks man. The radiator on my machine was cooled by engine oil.. if it’s an oil cooled machine it will always use the oil of the engine to cool the engine instead of coolant. It takes longer for the engine to warm up but stays cooler once hot. The only thing I didn’t like is that the radiators can clog easier since they are flowing thick oil instead of thin coolant. Hope this helps
I answered your other comment already but yah you should have more than 2. Look for broken or covered up zerks.. these zeros on the boom/loader often get Broken off
Seafoam on a deisel, deisels smoke by nature? But seafoam should smoke like crazy the way u added it to the fuel filter! I usually use slick 50 in any used vehicle I buy Ive had good luck with it. Im lookin at a gas powered skid steer not much lift capacity but I need it for mostly snow removal. so the Lahman model might fit my bill or purpose
The good thing about the gas skid steers is they weigh a lot less so they would be great for hauling round on a small trailer and doing snow removal jobs... Yes i know diesels smoke.. The issue with this skid steer was it was smoking WAY too much because it was burning oil.. It also sat for many years before it ran so i wanted to clean out the injectors which was why i used seafoam the way i did in this video. Seafoam is completely safe for both gas and diesels.. The creator of seafoam actually made a youtube video on running his diesel on straight seafoam by filling up the fuel filter on his truck with seafoam and starting it. Its totally safe... He does this and recommends to do it every time you change your fuel filter on a diesel to keep your injectors clean... Since my skid steer was burning oil bad i was thinking the injectors were gummed up causing them to wash off the piston rings which could cause compression loss and oil consumption..This is why i added the seafoam like i did.. I also added lucas motor oil treatment to the engine and after a few hours of running the blue smoke and burning oil was gone.. I was very happy. I swear by lucas oil treatment.. Slick 50 i dont like as i watched a video by "project farm" on youtube where he tested slick 50 as he was in love with the stuff as well and found it did nothing to help the engine..check it out its on youtube.. everyone was surprised.
That thing is a beast. You'll love it more than the tractor. Great Video!

Looks good Mike!

I like these I actually own one myself but I think that the older ones were more built more heavy-duty
Nice man! GEHL sure does make some beefy equipment.. strong and reliable!
Seems like the hand control for the bucket is backwards
Yes, seems backward.. my R135 you twist to the left to curl up

Skippy Thanks Skippy! Stay tuned! New video uploading as we speak using both the Kubota bx and my skidsteer in this one
How's the skidder been for ya? It's been a while since we sold it, and I only recognized my at home spray paint lol
Was wondering the same thing did not know he even still had it.
Edit: He traded it for his truck!

That is very true, when you get a new piece of equipment. Just like a new girlfriend 😂😂
Haha it sure is! I miss this skidsteer, I ended up trading it for my cummins pickup/work truck that I still have and use on all my jobs today!
