    It's artistic and looks great. It doesn't resemble any marble I've ever seen. The audio was to much for me to bear, consistently blasting the music 5 times louder than your spoken words made me to jump to the end of the video early on to see the end results. Its my suggestion you keep audio levels equal.

      Great question! It honestly it took me about 5 days to do. I averaged about 5-6 hours a day. The main thing is adding layers upon layers of "marble" to make it look realistic. Those subtlety in the darks and highlights take time to build but the end results are stunning.

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wayne! I appreciate your honest feedback. When researching on different marble looks I realized that a "marble effect" can vary greatly depending on the type of look you are going for. Some marble is more blended with faint veins. Then there are other marble styles that are more dramatic and contrasted. In the end it depends on your personal style and what look you want to achieve. In this case, my client wanted a more dramatic and contrasted look. Ultimately this video shows you the basic "techniques" to do a marble effect. However, it up to you how you want to use these techniques to achieve the "style" of marble look that you are looking for.

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! This can possibly work with metallic paint. However, metallic paint dries very very fast and can be kinda transparent when you wet it. I would recommend using a regular paint first as a base color. Then you can add a metallic paint on top of it as an accent.

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      LMAO Let me explain. When I mean by "exaggerative" movements is by not being stiff and precise when you are blending. Have your blending strokes be loose and spread the paint. "Organic" means that don't have any sharp edges and make the blending look soft and natural. Thank you for asking, so I can clarify.

    I love marble effect walls, yet I just did not like this..sorry. The reason I didn;t like it, was it created too closed in feel and the height wasn't justified. If I had been comissioned this job, to create an illiusion of more space, form and light, I would have really been more soft on the blue(s) and put more tones of white, grays and flicks of gold. I just think the room was too small for such a beautiful effect, that you created.

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Atherton! I totally get what you mean. The original design was a softer blue to allow more light in the room. However, during the process the client wanted the blue to be even darker and more dramatic. I was a bit hesitant because of the space and lighting of the room so I agree with your points. However, since this was a commissioned piece I have to abide to what the client wants. Even if I don't think that it would be the best look for the room. I appreciate the feedback!

    Yeah.........nah , nice effect but it ain't THE marbling tutorial , there are so many variations of "how to marble" and they are all called "how to marble" which basically tells you there are variations of "the theme of marbling" so it's kinda moot to say "this is how to marble" , it is more apt to say "this variation of a marbling technique gave me this result" .... sorry to sound pedantic but this isn't "how to marble"....all power to you though and you must feel a real thrill from having the skill to set yourself so free 🌹

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nicolas. You are right! There are many different ways to "marble". Marbling is varied greatly by style, color, and even the surface. The basic 3 step technique that I showed can be modified depending on the "style" of marbling. I'm actually going to upload a video in the next few days of another marbling technique that I used to transform my client's foyer. Make sure to stay tuned and love to hear your feedback.

    • @nicolasrose3968
      @nicolasrose3968 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@becacastel8978 Marbling is well known and is a mandatory and necessary skill to have in restoration and bespoke design studios , the departure from "classic" marbling is evident in the exciting , re-imagined and authentic visual variations of the marbling "theme" that we see being produced by truly talented artists and in the same light are encouraged by aspiring adventurers sharing their discoveries. I for one am delighted by the depth and range of exquisite contours and "textures" that "marbling" reveals.

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for asking. How I created the gray lines is by using a feather brush to create the lines. Or you can use a small angle brush. When you paint the lines use the sponge right after to wipe off the lines a little bit so it can blend nicely in the white wall. It is up to you how subtle or contrasted you want the lines. I did a combination of subtle lines and then darker lines on top. Also, look at pictures of gray marble and look at the lines. You will see that the lines are very abstract and never straight but always curvy. I would suggest you practice on a small canvas so you can get comfortable doing this and experiment on what you like. Once you feel comfortable with the technique then paint on the wall. Good luck!

      Hi Carolyn, I would suggest you practice on thick white paper. Like canvas paper, you can get at Micheals for $10. This way you can practice the lines until you get the look that you want. Always start the lines light. Like water down the paint a little bit and get the light gray and paint the lines as if the marble is "craking". The lines are never really straight they are kinda rounded lines that organically spread out. Hope this helps!

      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Anita! Thank you for asking. With countertops, you can use the same painting techniques to get the effect. However, the type of paints and clear varnish/sealer that you are going to use will probably be different. Especially with the varnish, you need it to be waterproof and heavy-duty for durability purposes. I would look up videos specifically for painting countertops so you know what would be the best paints and clear sealer for maximum durability.

      Yes you can! It took my about 5 days (6hrs each day) to do this wall. The wall was about 8 ft tall and 20 ft wide.

    Can we use Amsterdam acrylic though it's thicker?

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Natasha! I've never used Amsterdam Acrylic so I wouldn't be able to tell you if it will work or not. However, if the paint is thick you will just need to wet it more to dilute it. It can possibly work. Let me know if it does!

    Hello,do u wait for base colour to dry before u add another layer,and judging by the big space how do u maneuver, e.g..do u do the base colour on the entire wall and continue on the next day with another layer?

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! The paint dries within 30 seconds, so you can do the layering pretty quickly. Since it is a big wall, I like to cover the whole wall one layer at a time. This helps keep the overall look of the mural consistent. Depending how fast you work, will depend how many layers you can do each day. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask me any other questions!

      @@becacastel8978 thanks for the reply,there's another one,about the last layer,the polyuthrane thing u use,can I use something like wood varnish or lacquer as a substitute, because most of these products are sometimes not sold or even heard in most of the south African countries,im from Ghana by the way. One more thing, try letting us know as to how many days it takes u in terms of working on a big bigger project.eg.if it's a big project u r working on;show it or tell us in the video, u will add another layer the next day,something like that so that we will get a great grasp on what u r teaching us,I just love ur art style,stay blessed

    When you want to paint over the wall down the road, what kind of primer do you use to cover the glossy varathane?

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pam, great question. I would use a good quality white flat paint that has a primer in it. For example if you have a Sherwin Williams store near you I would get the "Emerald Category" paint in a flat white paint & primer in one. That would be enough to cover it. If you try to cut corners and get a cheap white flat paint you will be spending more time and coats to cover it.

    This is so awesome, damn Kudos to you girl. But my question is what if I don't want to use that vanish you used can I use resin instead and if I'm using that same vanish you used can I apply it with a paint roller instead of using a brush? Thanks.

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Resin is a fabulous varnish. However, its best used when the surface is falt on the floor so the varnish can even out settle properly. If you are doing thus upright on the wall I'm afraid it will be too thick and run down creating streaks. That is why i chose this varnish instead. However, It does not mean you can't experiment with the resin and let me know it works out! You can use a roller to apply but make sure you get those specific roller for painting furniture. Also, get best quality one too. Please take your time applying the varnish. It's a beautiful affect but you need a lot of proper lighting and patience for it come out perfect!

    Can you explain me base colour white oil or water then more colors water or oil?

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Arman. I don't quite understand your question but I'll explain what type of paint I used. In this video I used acrylic LATEX paint for the base. This type of paint is basically your regular house paint. The base is latex not water. BUT for the added detail on top I used regular acrylic canvas paint that is water based. I DO NOT recommend paint with oil paints when doing these projects. It takes way too long to dry (several weeks) and smells terribly. I hope this answers your question!

    Hi Beca. this is very beautiful and I liked it. Great work by the way. I love painting and I have decided to get serious with the art so I wouldn't mind a tip on what tools would you recommend. And also, most times my challenge is knowing the kind of paint to buy. I am from Nigeria and I presume most of the paint I see used on TH-cam can't be found in Nigeria. But I also believe there are similar kinds of paint that can be accessed here. I would like to know whether the paints you used in this video were oil paints. Kindly guide me through the choices of paints to use. I have just subscribed to your TH-cam channel

    • @becacastel8978
      @becacastel8978  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Okpe! Thank you so much for your comment. I would love to help you! The paints that I used in the video are mostly house paint and acrylic. To be honest, with you any basic acrylic paint works well. It's all about HOW you use the paint that is important. I would recommend the brand 'Arteza". You can buy it online on their website. They are very well priced and of great quality. Hopefully, they ship to Nigeria! I'm going to do a video about the art supplies that I use soon, so make sure to stay tuned! Hopefully, that will help. let me know if you have any other questions. :)

      That is a good question. If you are creating this effect on a wall, then I highly recommend using the gloss that I used in the video. However, if you are doing this effect on a canvas then you can definitely use an acrylic sealant.
