Mate, this is excellent YouTubing. Tells me why I can’t unscrew the filter and then gives a solution that is going to save me money and keep me in the good books with my wife. Couldn’t be happier, you’ve gained a sub. Cheers buddy.

Thank you for the information. Great tutorial with clear instructions. In case anyone is afraid to take on dismantling the Bosch Vario Perfect (Eco Silence Drive) after watching this clip, there is a new easy way. Disconnect the power and pull out the machine. Tilt it back and you can access the pump and filter system from underneath without having to remove any panels. The technicians at Bosch recognized the problem and left an access area open so it makes the job of unblocking very easy now. August 2023.

Thanks for your helpful video! I was able to sort out my Bosch washing machine following your instructions. Quick safety tip for other people who follow these instructions: when tilting the washing machine to reach the screws underneath, it's a good idea to have a wall behind so that it can't tilt too far back, just enough so that the machine's own weight holds it while it balances on the back legs. I positioned mine in front of a wall and it did feel more secure.
To get to the small screws underneath the machine under the front panel, you will need some back and arm strength to start tilting the machine backwards, and to hold it steady at the top with one arm while you crouch down to unscrew the little screws underneath at the front, and also some joint and muscle flexibility. Fortunately, the first part of the tilt is the only really heavy part and then the weight of the machine is used as leverage so you're not really holding up the whole machine. I think the cement blocks around the top and sides of the drum to weight it down are what makes it heavy. If you have someone to help that would be better. I didn't but I was still able to manage to lift it up as many times as needed until I had taken it apart, unclogged it, and put it back together.
Kneeling on a cushion or towel helps keep the legs more comfortable while working on the lower parts of the machine.
Regarding the 6mm socket screwdriver for the bottom screws - I found three screws there and two of them were slightly too small to be gripped and turned by the 6mm socket screwdriver but I was able to borrow a tiny spanner and it worked well.
I didn't have a hook pick for removing and replacing the wire circle around the rubber lip on the seal. It was difficult without this, but I found that I was able to manage it with pulling the coiled spring with gloved hands and stretching it by pulling to the left while the right side was already in place.
For replacing the maintenance flap - it was really difficult but I eventually managed it by pushing the right side in first, then the left, and then going back to the right side and pushing it further back into the groove than I would have thought, using a tiny bit of force.
If you have laundry stuck in the machine when you get the E:18 message, there will be a lot of water that drains out. You may need to put the plug back in the emergency drain a few times to empty your bucket or container. I had to do this eight times! The door then wouldn't open to get the clothes out, and the emergency door opening lever didn't work, but I was able to dislodge the door with a solid thump on the door handle.
The blockage in my filter was an elastic hairband wound tightly around the impeller and weird pieces of broken plastic in the filter pipe, plus a broken piece of cane from a wicker laundry basket.
After this experience, I feel like I know my washing machine so much better, and appreciate it even more!! I ran a drum clean cycle after following these instructions and it smells fresh now and all is working well. I'm going to do monthly maintenance on the filter by taking it out of the maintenance flap and checking it for obstructions, and I'm also always going to shake out the laundry and check all the pockets before loading the machine.
    Thanks again for your help!

Mate you are a legend! I had this problem with the error code and the filter not turning. I found this video, followed your instructions to a tee and now the washing machine is fixed. Didn't have to wait a week or pay a guy. All it cost me was a Torx T20 which I didn't have. My 13 yr old and me pulled it apart and put it back together this morning. Had a little trouble with the control panel coming off because the inside clip was a bit tricky, got there though. Once again thanks so much for your awesome video.

Brilliant instructions, thank you. Very easy to follow despite seeming quite challenging when I watched it all the way through before I started. Took me about an hour, not including the cleaning session in the recess where the machine sits. Problem was a plastic bra wire and two small face cloths. Like others, I also found some coins. That means it is literally the first domestic appliance repair in my house that made me money rather than cost me money!

Very concise and nicely delivered. In reality never as easy you make it look but with a bit of patience it all worked out well. A tip for others...carefully lay your screws out in order so that you can install them in reverse when working through the excellent reassembly part of the video.

Thanks for the video. Our filter had a color catcher which had collected a load of other debris around it. Putting the sprung loaded wire around the seal was a pain in the backside without a proper hook tool, but got there in the end with tyre levers.
A note for UK users - my version of the machine has no metal base, and when I tipped up my machine to put the bottom screws back in, I noticed that I might have got away with not dismantling the machine and just undoing the spring clip on the pump hose from underneath. However, be very careful if you do it this way, it might be quicker, but only do it if you can put the machine on its back - don't be underneath it when the hose comes off, you'll get a nasty surprise!

Simply turn the machine on its side carefully and the bottom has no cover. It is easy to access the rubber hose pipe going to the filter and remove it as shown in your video. Thank you! You have made me believe in the internet all over again. As with other comments, you have saved me and my family money we didn't have spare with your clear and straight forward instructions. As with another Bosch Maxx6 owner in the comments below, I found the front fascia had three screws at the bottom, two at the top, and then needed to be pulled downwards to unclip from some plastic place-holders (?) near the bottom. It took a little bit of force, which was tricky, as you don't want to pull the front facia off to abruptly, otherwise you damage the connecting wire (which needs to be unclipped if you can).

I came across so many videos showing how to simply remove the bottom and easily access the pump until finally I came across this one which matched my iQ500 perfectly! Took me 2 hours on & off (while multi-tasking) but the guide worked perfectly. Removing the console was trickier for me with three fragile plastic clips to flip back, a couple of extra screws on top of the front panel but otherwise it was super helpful - including putting it all back together. In the end it was toothpicks and gunk around them. Many thanks!

I found much easier way to access the filter pipe by just laying the washing machine on the side. So you can reach the pipe from the bottom without opening any screws. Thank you for showing the way of solving this problem!

Thanks for the very clear instructions. I thought my machine was faulty when I couldn't unscrew the filter but after following this guide I found 4 strip's of plastic stuck in there. Now reassembled and working again. Cheers.

Thanks! Perfect instructions, methodical and, despite some slight tiny variations in connectors, your process was thorough and helpful. We'll check our filter more often! Our haul included an emery board, a peanut, 4 quarters and a dime, a couple of screws. We will clean our pockets before washing. Thank you!

Thank you so much. I watched your video to open up my Cylinda. Not exactly the same but a lot of similarities. I open everything up and thought: ofcourse he found the issue. I could not find anything wrong in my pipes. Then I randomly disassembled the pump, and wow, al of the gunk was inside the pump rotor. Cleaned it, assembled everything and now it works. Hope this comment helps anyone in the same situation.

Thank you so much. It saved me 70 Euros, first visit by technician to see what problem, 15 - 20 days of washing clothes by hand until the next appointment which he gives during first visit and then XXX Euros of bill for this work. Can't thank you enough for this service that you do us.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. Your clear instructions on every step were easy to follow, and I was able to disassemble and reassemble the machine - not ever having done this type of thing before. You are very much appreciated.
I struggled with replacing the front seal spring clamp - the machine is older and the spring was very tight. Thanks to you, my machine is happily washing again perfectly and a bonus - nice and clean inside and out!!!

What a champ! I was able to help my mother fix their machine because of this awesome and clear video. Thanks so much! The culprit here was toothpicks. I’m sure my father will start double checking the pockets a bit more often now 😅

Amazing!! Thankyou so much for such a well explained video! I followed step by step and removed a bunch of nails and toothpicks from the filter. Easy step by step instructions putting it back together also! Saved me $$ and only took me 1 hour and a half! My husband will be very impressed with me!

Brilliant video. Have just completed this with our machine. I went and bought myself a little set of Draper mini picks from Toolstation before starting. The hook tool was a lifesaver with the spring on the seal. Don't think I could have done it without one. Thanks again.

Just wasn't to add to the comments of praise from below. I live in the country so it costs a bomb to get a repair person out. Your clear instructions and vid work made it super simple for me to take out 4 sticks, a $1 and 10c coin and a credit card chopped into 6 pieces. I'm keeping the coins.
Thanks so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 A big like from me.

Thank you dude! Your instructions were really clear and gave me the confidence to do this myself. Just like you I found plastic collar shapers and a coin. For anyone with a Bosch Maxx 6 (UK): after removing the screws, you need to slide the front cover downwards to disengage 2 plastic bolts.

Excellent, clear instructions with plenty of closeups to show the detail. Thank you so much. My coin trap housing was blocked with coins, a hairpin and some sort of material jammed in the outlet. Even after I picked all that out I still couldn’t unscrew it because it was badly scaled. In the end I removed the whole pump assembly and the pipe with a non return valve from the drum and left them in Macerator Descaler for a couple of hours. Everything went back together without problems and the machine is working properly again. It would be quite difficult to figure out what has to come apart and in what order without a detailed video like this so many thanks for your efforts.

What a fantastic video! Couldn't open my filter for a similar reason. Was really daunted when I saw the stages that were needed in order to take the front panel off - however, followed the video step by step and totally sorted the problem.
The only issue I had was, when putting the panel back during the reverse procedure, that the soap dispenser unit had somehow moved and dropped out of alignment during the initial process of getting the front panel off.
I absolutely couldn't get the three screw holes lined up in order to get the top part of the front panel back on again and the dispenser wouldn't fit properly into the slot.
In the end it turned out that the two clips that are meant to hold the dispenser unit in place (one on the back left as you look at the dispenser from the front, and the clip on the front right as you look at it had both snapped off for some reason). After much fiddling (and swearing) and several hours, I sorted the problem by cable-tying the back left of the dispenser unit tightly to the metal frame which held the unit at the correct height and allowed me to screw the two main screws in from the front that then hold it securely in place
Saved me over £100 in spare parts and call out charges.
    Thank you very much!

You are a lifesaver. Well probably saved me a few dollars calling a service tech who probably would have tried to sell me a new pump. We now have a cleaned out & working machine. $2.10 a couple of bits of my cat5 wire offcuts, lots of hair a dolphin key ring and a smell that cannot be bottled.

Thank you! I unfortunately broke the handle of my fluff filter cap. Ordered a new part and pulled the machine apart watching your video to fix it. I found 8 coins and a metal rod that was stopping the cap from twisting. Saved me a lot of money not having a repair company come out to fix it.
