I am a Sikh, and I can never forgive Pitroda for his insensitive "HUA TOH HUA" remark about the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. My dad's cousin died when a mob attacked him and burned his bike. No one in my family has ever voted for kangress after the riots.

I feel pity for the people who says Modi ji is not speaking about the issues facing the nation. Hello, for last ten years he is trying hard to solve these issues. May be toilets, water, cleanliness, employment, foreign policy, 370, ucc, economy, caa, farm laws, defence equipment manufacturing in India, infrastructure, dbts, manufacturing in India it goes on and on. But for five years these opposition parties always corner him on non issues , which I have seen him intentionally pick up these non issues in Parliament speeches or in election time and make them helpless on their turf. And suddenly these opposition leaders get bowled out on their turf divert issues to development, where already he has done things on soil, which common people experience.

What the fuck has modi done to boost indigenous manufacturing? He is as bad as the congress, if not worse. We need a government that is supportive of MSMEs as they operate in spaces which generate a lot of employment, instead we are seeing an opposite of that, which is helping the richest grow even richer, with the gains of the growth not helping the middle class or grow the middle class, by uplifting those at the bottom of the pyramid into the middle class.
India's threatened by China NOT by its military posturing, but by its dumping its produce in the Indian market, which is gradually killing the economy, since 2003, when the trade deficit began spiking in China's favour. It destroys scope for employment for a huge number of Indians. And that is a bigger danger than the conflict along the Himalayan border.

I want to just point out that the way this episode is titled as huge backlash "from BJP" is only half-truth! He has caused a public outrage again! I used to think his infamous "Hua to hua" remark was the absolute low he could stoop to; clearly I was wrong. Also as a girl growing up in India we all prefered going to beauty parlors where the girls were of Chinese descent and we called them without any problems - Chinese beauticians and hairdressers and they certainly had no problem with that term. They were the best in the business. What should Mr Pitroda have referred to those type of features - oriental? No one did back then - so why pretend? Racist is a term used when people are prejudiced against a race not a physical feature - I listened to what he said and it came across as an illustration/ description of how diverse our nation is physically - and despite these differences how integrated we are as a nation. An integrated society that has been firmly following the proper path of secularism so far. No other country in the world does this - honouring all beliefs and providing them with public holidays when their religious days come up - to give an example. One could once stand straight and proud because of our country's reputation for proper secular governance and the fact we really did meld as one nation. This once placed us in the category of unique and far more civilised than the rest of the world. Now because of the embarrassing uproar created over Mr Pitroda's description of the different types of physical structures of the peoples of India - our reputation has been destroyed - By accusing him of being "racist" because his description of facial features in the south was likened to African features and therefore considered an insulting term -is an insult to the African people. It also advertises the fact that we are a nation that dislikes dark complexions thereby advertising the fact that we are as colour conscious as most western nations.
Amen to that! Quite disgraceful to term it a 'gaali' to begin with. More so to even consider it a topic of debate, especially in the face of much graver issues.

I am amazed that all Desi TV panelists, while ever ready to quote a Shaw an Emerson, a Reagan, or a Voltaire, can not even give one quote from an Indian source, which we have in plenty through the millennia. They can give an Indian quote even in translation. Not many ic them are grounded in any Indian language gushed. This includes Barkha herself.
So, what’s game plan of Congress to improve employment? Giving government job is not solution.

First expert took Modi's statement literally. That was too funny an approach. It is election time and Modi's remark was allegorical.
Sanjay Jha is deliberately misinterpreting Modi's speech by saying that Modi is accusing Adani of black money, when in fact the true interpretation of the speech is that RAGA/Congress has blackmailed Adani to hand over Crores of black money to Congress so that the receipt will not be traced to them. Modi never says anything without proof. So be ready for the proof to come out in the next few days. Isn't the Congress's silence on this accusation from Modi very defeaning? It actually speaks volumes. And if Congress wants to challenge Modi's accusation then they will go to their friendly SC.
Let us not get distracted by prickly issues, only because it serves some spice, especially when the ignorance of current government of core issues that directly affect lives of majority of it's citizens. Barkha should not tie the toes of Godi media, and harp on comments of an Overseas Indian. There is nothing we need to worry about his comments, which just like any other person has an opinion. People of India has seen what has been done in past 10 years. One example - internet connectivity has increased from 14-15% to 52%. So, we have laid the foundation of employability for future generation and today people have multiple avenues to earn and people are earning. If someone wants only govt job so they can do only 9-5, don’t work and take bribe. Get job based on quotas ? I think some people do not understand or see that govt job is to create environment for economy to thrive and not spoon feed every single person. At least after 75 years of independence this would be shame. Also give an example which developed countries has reservation and govt provide give fixed job. Employability is about individual skills, even if someone gets job because of quota, without skill the person can earn more only through corruption.
