Not that it matters, but since Spike was theorizing and Church was very quick to accept it around the 01:55:10 mark, I can say with some confidence that "Belome" (Which thanks to Japanese being a phonetic language we know is pronounced like it rhymes with Jerome) isn't a play on words in English at all, but mostly un-localized Japanese that they just used as-is. ベロ~ム (Belo-mu, Its name as it appears in Japanese) almost certainly comes from ベロ (Bero/Belo), a colloquial term for the tongue derived, in theory, from the onomatopoeia "belo belo", which means to lick enthusiastically, which Belome also uses in its speech in Japanese. In Japanese, extending the last vowel of a word figuratively "lengthens" it, and when it's written using the ~, instead of the ー (A point the remake even specifically calls attention to in Belome's entry), the "waviness" emphasizes it even more. I love how you can play around with the written language in Japanese like this. There may be more to it, I'm not going off of an official source speaking about its name, but the creature has a massive tongue which is kind of central to its identity, so my assumption is they just added a "mu" to the end, to make it sound more like a name, and called it a day.
Spikevegeta is very entertaining. I have to say thanks for this. Most seedrunners, though really really good at what they do, are just boring to watch because they don't say anything or they talk at such a high technical level, it's difficult to understand. Spike is just fun.
2:49 -- "how many times can a human press a button?" -- out of context, this summarizes the entire history of video games, speedrunning, industrial revolution, etc. XD 58:46 -- SpikeVegeta's all-time favorite GDQ donation comment, which reminded me of Spike reading this comment at SGDQ 2015: th-cam.com/video/kC5iiH7sY5Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xSs2ZpIt7Z1rL6Ae&t=3081
Bundt is terrible, yes. But the Bundt REFIGHT is worse than the worst! Stupid Torte and his apprentice keep lighting the candles even though they KNOW it's going to do something bad.

Spikevegeta is the maaaaaan! Love watching this dude speedrun, so entertaining
Duffed it means during your swing your club hit the ground. Often leaving a divot or hole in the ground.

damn the amount of times this man was flame walled was wild lmfao
Then goes and gets a no hit fight on the 3rd go.
1:14:10 - Not sure where Spike got this idea? Peach has kissed Mario in the SNES versions of SMB1 and Lost Levels, SM64, and most NSMB games.
Nearly every game after SMW she gives some kind of kiss.
100 jumps in a speed run - pure madness! This took me 8 hours get done! 😂
51:30 GDQ marathon is now just one long episode of Mercy Kill
The biggest thing I was happy about was the adjustment to missables
honestly a spaghetti dinner with a commentary of saving 3 text boxes in mario rpg sounds p good to me
My super jump record is like 19 or something... i just cant hit the supers, i wish there was like a way to expand the frame window
To spike: that minecart section was nasty
51:00 ish Spike, that's literally the hotfix show Mercy Kill.
Mario 64 has a kiss from Peach at the end of the game.
Im pissed smithy doesn't do that magic box transformation with the acid trip attack lol
12:57
Can absolutely confim that I just blindly accept whatever a speedrunner tells me about the game/their execution that is on screen lmao
Wait, Mac is just a dude on a pogo stick?
Ain’t gonna beat him. Just ain’t gonna happen!!
Finishing smithy on a 69 chain Nice!
Man the times really are chipping down fast!
"We use that on a cake later."
That's a name and voice I haven't heard in a while: SpikeVegeta.
Bowsers inside story final boss theme sounds like it belongs in kingdom hearts. It's so good.
0:01 That magical beard! :D

Okay, I feel better knowing that the super jump is just as hard. I spent no joke a day and a half attempting it before I got it 🥲🥲
