I had a friend in high school that worked at the local Dairy Queen at the end of first shift. She would find out where we’re all hanging out and bring us the extra ice cream. She told us that if the twirl on the top isn’t perfect, they couldn’t sell it so they always had extra dilly bars and ice cream cones sometimes they brought a cake that was done wrong,
We ate that well that summer!

Here in Hermosillo, Mexico we got at least 10 Dairy Queen locations and they all just serve treats, no fast food at all. Whenever I'd visit the States I'd find the concept of these places also havibg chili dogs, burgers, and other hot eats to be kind of exotic.

Their food is not that great, but I find it amazing there being a ton of Dairy Queen’s in Mexico. Especially in Manzanillo Colima where my family originated.

I recommend the chicken strips. The burgers are mediocre, but the chicken strips have great texture and flavor for fast food chicken. Plenty of dipping sauces to choose from too, including white gravy which is a popular choice you won't find in many other places.

Even in America, there are still a lot of so-called "Treat" locations that sell only their soft-serve products and other desserts--no hot food. I grew up near one that's still open today (I'm over 40, to give you a sense of time).

In Canada, Blizzards can be had with Smarties, not M&Ms. This also goes for McFlurries. These are not the small, hard sugar candies that Americans eat. Those are called Rockets here.

I grew up literally behind a DQ. I spent many of summers and money on ice cream. When the DQ came out with the blizzard, I was the guinea pig of sorts getting to try out them out before they went on sale. If they made it, I've had it. Recently their dreamsicle dipped cones are pretty good. I still visit that location at least 1-2 a month. If my local DQ ever closes down, I'll never recover..

I lived in Thailand for a while and they only give you one small spoonful of candy in your Blizzard there. When I returned to Canada, one of the first things I did was get a real Blizzard full of candy bits. Unfortunately, I had become so used to having only a single spoonful of candy that I couldn't finish even have a Canadian Blizzard. I can't even eat them anymore because they're too rich.

My favorite Blizzard flavors are anything with chocolate, but I also love Dairy Queen's hot fudge sundaes. Kind of dissapointed Weird History didn't mention Dennis The Menace [US] was Dairy Queen's mascot for a while, or the Texas Dairy Queen locations, complete with their own cowboy mascot The D.Q Kid. I do hope that there will be a Jack In The Box video one day, especially if the 1970s Jack In The Box Bunch characters voiced by Disney legend Paul Winchell [who also invented the artificial heart], get a mention.

I was banned from my local DQ when I was 17 for ordering the 'Peanut buster parfait/hold the nuts' too many times. I would get one on the way home from football practice, and for some reason, the idea of it angered the manager/owner/whatever soooo much, he banned me for life. The dude was absolutely unhinged.

I don't think I've ever had a Dairy Queen Blizzard. I've never been much for crunchy stuff in my ice "milk." I've had lots of stuff from there. I can't count the number of times I've had their chicken baskets and sundaes. I've just never had a craving for the Blizzard.
