    I like your review style! Q: Is it horrible in a bit deeper snow? How much do you really have to lean back on your back leg, to not have the tip dive and risk face planting (i.e. how demanding as an all-mountain 1bq)?

    I ride the Jones MT for the last 3 years. I was thinking of goign over to the burton custom for a bit more aggressive riding. Then a came upon your review. This board looks dope. Whould you say that the Greats is too close to the MT and i should probably invest in a total different type of board, or does it ride totally different then the MT?

    Great review! Love the riding and b-roll. I have a riding question. I'm more comfortable riding switch and freestyle. I don't know what to progress to next. I'm working on 180s. Is it better to get down all 4 180s before trying any 360s? Thanks!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I think that the easiest order (for me anyway) is back 1, cab 1, back 3, cab 3, then front 1, front 3. It definitely is a very good idea to have all 180s first, but if you get bored or frustrated the back 3 and cab 3 are really fun, and just need a bit of commitment, but not too much.
      The one handy thing I would remember for back 1/switch back 1s is to jump from your toe edge, land on your toe edge and keep your head looking up the hill until you are comfortably riding straight, and won't revert.

    Great review.
    How do you compared it to the asymulator in the same size?
    Pop, snappiness, turn initiation Weight, and stability at speed.
    And which do you like better. I have both and it’s hard for me to pick which I like more lol.
    The great is such a fun board but so is the asymulator.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The Asymulator would be a bit faster to turn, though other than the width differences they feel pretty similar. Both light, quick, stable for their flex and good pop. Also though, the Asymulator I rode was a bunch smaller than the Greats, so that also probably helped it feel extra quick and light. I didn't ride the Greats in deeper snow, but I imagine that it would do a better job having more surface area.

      @SnowboardRobot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Unless you really like shorter feeling boards, the 156 would be the best choice. It definitely didn't feel too stiff for me, and with the rocker on the it still is quite playful.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely could, but if you didn't really care about the park I would go for something that is at least a bit directional, rather than a twin. The PYL has a similarish overallish feel, except for the shape of course.

    Great review. I am looking forward to the 2023 version. Quick question: how’s buttering in this board? Is it easy enough or did you have to put some effort into pressing? Is it stiffer than Never Summer Proto Synthesis?

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! It feels quite a bit softer than the Proto Synthesis, I could push it around way more. Not too soft where it was hard to ride on bumpy snow, but you wouldn't need to put in a ton of effort for pretty solid presses either.

  • @pourinar6448
    @pourinar6448 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your content! Okay so I own a warpig and dancehaul. Both are great, although I prefer the warpig. What do you recommend for something more hard charging? Same style? Orca? Golden Orca? and real opinion of the greats vs Asymulator? I used to own a greats and greatly miss it!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Well although it is a big step up in performance, the Superpig is a good option seeing you like the warpig. A whole bunch stiffer and faster, though it has a way more solid feel with the camber compared to the Warpig, so you would have to get used to that.
      I haven't been on any of the Orcas, though going to the rocker between your feet would be a big overall change.
      Except for the width difference between the Greats and Asumulator, they had a very similar ride to me. Both lightweight, good pop, turn well with no major downsides. The extra width of the Greats might help out in deeper snow, but the Asymultor will turn quicker. You can't really go wrong with either, no big downsides to them at all.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't find it washy - though in the video I wasn't putting in any hard turns as the snow was harder than it looks. In general I really like the feel of heelside turns on asym boards, though I couldn't really prove that I am not just imagining it because I know it has the smaller sidecut.
      Do you want to stick to a twin and asym board?

    I have a dedicated soft park board (Proto Slinger) and am currently using the 2020 Capita Outsiders as a do-it-all/all mountain/freestyle board. It's the same one you bought and reviewed a few years ago. Can you comment on how that board differs from the Greats for that purpose? Which one is easier to butter? Any difference in stability and being able to hold speed? Also do you feel the mid-bite tech is worth it for someone that lives on the East Coast? Wondering if it's worth upgrading the Outsiders for this as my all mountain board.
    Thanks for the reviews!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The Outsiders has the very old school classic camber feel - poppy, good edge hold and good grip. The Greats feels a lot lighter, and overall it feels like a modern board. It feels softer, but is still quite snappy. You won't have to put in a lot of work to get it to grip well, but it is still softer, and has a bit of rocker on the nose and tail, so it won't grip to the level of the Outsiders. It is also quite wide, with the odd step in between the feet, though it didn't feel slow edge to edge. In short, a lighter, more playful twin board.

    How does it compare to the Never Summer Protosynthesis? More tempted by the protosynthesis at the moment.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are tougher to compare, the Greats is light and snappy, with a more classic camber feel. The Proto Synthesis is heavier, with a more damp and solid ride, with very strong edge hold. Never Summers hold a very strong edge throughout the whole turn with very little effort. All just a personal preference, it depends on what board you have been riding and what profile you already like.

    Always nice to see your reviews! I tried the last season Yes Greats which I think is the same spec. It felt very stable and also butterable considering its stiffer flex. Great board but not good for beginners.
    BTW, how do you feel about the Vans Infuse Boot? I tried Vans Boots before in the store. They are so hard to put on even for softer ones!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Those boots are a lot of work to get on, they take ages compared to my old double boa Salomons. I wanted something a bit stiffer, though after a couple of days riding I took out the tongue stiffeners, they just a bit too stiff at the start before they broke in.
      Not I have ridden them quite a lot, I think I'll add the stiffeners back in. They fit me nicely, are comfy for long days but I do have custom footbeds in which helps a ton. I do expect quite a lot from boots that expensive though.

    • @HunterHughes10
      @HunterHughes10 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have the Verse (boa version of the same boot). Once they break in they are soft enough for the park without the stiffeners, then perfect for charging the rest of the mountain with the stiffeners in. Love them for being able to swap boot feel between my park and freeride board.
      Wear 10.5s in street shoes, but had to size up to 11.5 to fit.. Anyone else notice that? Creates much more of a heel / toe drag issue than I’m used to!

  • @sammietam4201
    @sammietam4201 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They made the board wider becos if the asymmetrical side or they want to have a wider board? I have size 9 boots and worry it’s going to be to slow and heavy trough turns.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not 100% on what the thinking of making it wider is, but it didn't feel slow edge to edge for me with 9.5s, so I don't think you will have an issue with 9s. It might be because it steps down to be narrower between the feet, but I can't wrap my head around exactly how that would change too much.

    Thanks for the review! I've been pretty set on getting the Greats since last season. I'm 6' 155-160lbs size 10.5 US boot which I believe puts me between the 154 and 156 boards. I do more all mountain riding than park which makes me want to lean more towards the 156 but to be honest I'm not a fan of the design. There are some questionable graphics like the dude blowing snot and the guy getting head from a woman crying which I wouldn't want my kids seeing. Nice review! good to see the new graphic of 2023 early. Can you share some tips how to use Insta360 one x2 output 4k clips? I know the 360degree raw video is 5.7k, but after output it only support 1080p. How did you make those 1080p clips into a 4k video. And it looks much better than what I did.

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I've got the older one X, but I assume that everything would be the same for the X2.
      I'll get all the 360 clips, import them into Insta Studio, then batch export at high/very high the 360 videos to some mp4s. Then I import them all into Premiere. If I am making a video with a lot of 360 footage I will make proxies of the clips so that I can edit/animate faster, but if it is just a couple of shots I will just deal with it, even though my computer struggles through such big footage.
      I use the GoPro ReFrame plugin to do all the animating in the 360 footage, I like the fine control I have over everything compared to Insta Studio.
      I made the first few videos on a 4k timeline, but the 360 files are a bit much for my computer to deal with (although quality is really good), so now I use a faster 1080 timeline. When I export the final video I use the TH-cam 4k ultra hd preset, so it scales up the smaller footage. Although not proper 4k, it looks pretty good and makes the editing process much quicker for me.
      Also filming when it is sunny, and doing some simple colour correcting makes a big difference, otherwise the footage looks a bit flat, and has a warmer yellow tone to the snow.

      The next two Korua videos will be the Otto and Tranny Finder Plus, I rode the Pencil a couple of years ago, but still need to try and ride it again properly soon.

    Great review! I am 5’10” 150lbs and own the 156. The board felt stiffer to me, fairly true to the 7/10 listed for my specs.

      Man, you took the far high range, which means that is an all mountain- freeride board then and feels stiffer because of your weight. I am 5'10" and 171lbs and I ride the 154 which is perfect for all-mountain. I'm not criticizing it is just that the board size will affect your ride, if you want more stability and edge and float then 56 is the way to go. I also own the greats 156 2017 before the big overhaul and that was a good all mountain size but it was much thinner.

      @@-tr0n I appreciate the comments, what do you think I should include to make them better? I try to add some basic info (eg not everyone knows what asym is) and all that, and when there is something to complain about some footage of me riding that can highlight it... but anything else I am missing I can try to add for future videos.

      Tbf, most “snowboard reviews” are similar to reading spec sheets…
      Sometimes can’t tell if all this snowboarding tech is “worth it”. I.e… tons of people love the Dancehaul… yet it doesn’t have some gimmicky sidecut, carbon, special sidewall materials etc.
      Guess it’s hard compare…when there aren’t really “bad” snowboard to review, as so much can be offset by rider skill.
      Like every review out there is saying so and so snowboard is great at different things, and never..”don’t spent $$ on this, not worth it”.
      But the detail you go in, with respect to your riding, is very much appreciated! And always helps me want/anticipate to pickup new gear!

      @-tr0n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SnowboardRobot Honestly easier said than done reviewing things. I feel you covered a fair amount but really missed the riding characteristics, what the board might excell at, what it might not. I'd like to know how it compares to claims the manufacturer makes on the website (stiffness etc which you did cover. Everything is either a 5 or a 7, LIARS), how it responded when riding, carving characteristics, pop, tip response etc. IMO pretty much all modern snowboards from real companies are decent, they're all rideable and at least acceptable at what they were designed for, just looking for a little extra at no extra cost, you know how it is!
      Appreciate the videos either way dude.
