I absolutely believe in the theory of Divine Retribution . There is no doubt in my mind but that the king and his friend the Pope died as a result of God's punishment upon them . The king's line dying out before him was also an extension of the same punishment according to me .

Evidently, Philip made many enemies , and as powerful rich pissed off people tend to do , they get revenge ?
especially with the whole Tour de Nesle affair just starting in 1313, the year before he died, before he was busy finishing off the Knights Templar
? that somehow, his daughter Isabella gives her sisters in law these distinctive silk embroidered purses in 1313 and later, sees a couple of norman french knights wearing these purses, ( men wore purses then and proudly)
isabella runs to papa who immediately gets paranoid, and dredges up evidence, has theses norman knights also tortured into confession.....
no surprise there considering Philip s track record
this whole affair ruins the lives and marriages of at least two of his three male heirs...
and calls into question the legitimacy of his grandchildren and future heirs... i have even read analysis of which grandkids are considered more legitimate based on their birthdates, in relation to these affairs.
the whole thing is so sketchy, and who thinks this is a coincidence ?
one wife dies in prison, the male heirs remarry , try to get new heirs and all die pretty quickly afterwards even though they are quite healthy...
his eldest, only king for two years after philip dies, dies suddenly from a strenuous game of tennis ?
and the other two sons die, after each being king for only six years each, both being in twenties or early thirties...highly sketchy
and Isabella and her sixteen year old son Edward are denied the french crown, after all the service she provided her country, giving her life to maintain the relationship between France and England, brokering peace, being married to the worst king of england and husband, Edward II for twenty years, and to boot, bringing the country of england as her son is now the king of england, which in a sense, can make England a sort of possession of France, since Isabella is truly French, after all.
there are some very sketchy details. Isabella s claim was legitimate even by anti-female Salic Law, as most versions of Salic permit the FEMALE TO PASS THE CROWN TO HER SON. the female cannot be monarch, but can pass it to her son.
The french nobility and clergy did not like the rumor that she killed her husband Edward, but there is no proof truly, and they hated Edward anyway, and their sense of justice is demonstrated to be already a bit selective.
Someone wanted to kill Philip and to kill effectively the Capetian Dynasty and offshoots, , which worked.
