    I googled the steel and it is 154CM, just made by Crucible

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Thought so and I'm not sure why they needed to add crucible after the 154 😄👍🗡️

      @@OGBladeReviews for brand safety maybe. I was on the homepage from Crucible an Wikipedia, looks like 154CM is the trade name from Crucible. Didn't know that either

      @OGBladeReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and when it has "CPM" ahead of the number it stands for "Crucible Powder Metallurgy," different from Crucible ingot 154CM. 👍🗡️

      @@OGBladeReviews I find that very interesting, being from Austria and was a few times in the factory from Böhler 😎

    According to Off Grid's website OEM is listed as Taiwan. Thanks for the look.

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's interesting because if you look at the enforcer specifications the OEM is listed as Bestech. I really didn't think they were splitting up their manufacturer but I'll ask them. 👍🗡️

      Apparently there was some confusion since the information coming out of off-grid had varied several times. The update is much appreciated! Great Blades! 🗡️🔥👊

    I ordered one of these as well as their Caiman XL. They are my first experience with Off Grid knives, but I'm already a fan. They look and feel fantastic, and the locking mechanism seems good and strong for being a liner lock. I don't think either knife is going to be replacing Cold Steel as hard use heavy duty folders, but for above average EDC I can't find a reason to complain, especially for the pricing.

    Oh yeah ! Awesome . Seen Bob knife junkie DeMarco had this too and it caught my attention instantly . These off grids look Rugged and reliable . Have a great day . I was trying smaller 3” knives but I m like an old dog I guess . I’m not disappointed inthe smaller knives if I can get 4 fingers on with a choil they’re ok for a 5 th pocket imo . Better something than nothing

    I've received some comments on the Stinger XL indicating that the liner looks thin and the central grind line is off. My take on these is that the liner is plenty thick, measuring 1.5 mm which is about the same thickness as any Kubey, Petrified Fish, Bestech or other under $100 liner lock, as well as being thicker than Civivi. Engagement on this copy is 35%.
    The center grind on this dagger or bayonet style blade being slightly off in my estimation is due to wanting a stronger edge near the tip making the tip less frail even though we're dealing with 4 mm blade stock. It definitely is equal on both sides and looks intentional rather than accidental.
    I'll hold with these ideas until I hear differently from the manufacturer themselves.
    Many thanks to my viewers for watching and commenting!!!🗡️🔥👊

    Love almost everything about it. I have a bunch of Off Grid knives. Nice designs, feel great in the hand, well done steels...and paper thin liner locks 🤦‍♂️ Especially in a knife made for stabbing?

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! You'll need to think that one through regarding the liner. Firstly, when tightly gripped, a liner lock is better than a frame lock for not accidentally closing, since the handle slabs protect the liner locking mechanism. The liner is substantial and measures out to 1.5mm. The sheer weight of the knife is the result of the thickness of these liners. Personally having carried and used many folders I would feel confident using this knife under just about any circumstance, yet should the user be concerned there is a substantial guard formed in the open position by the flipper tab which would block closure by means of the index finger.
      At any rate, those are my thoughts on your concern. 🗡️👊👍

      @@OGBladeReviews thanks for the info. I'll probably end up getting one, if for no other reason than it's a great looking piece. If they got the liner right, it'll even get some pocket time 👍

    I think I might have found my CS alternative. If “ there can only be one”, bonus point if you know which movie that from, which one Stinger or the Enforcer? Now off to see the Enforcer review. Thanks!

    Very impressive looking large blade. However, Off-Grid needs to beef up the liners, or use a different lock system; perhaps like Cold Steel. I returned my Off-Grid knife because for a hard use knife it had very early lockup and thin liners. Great video as always!

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! No such issues noticed here. Liners are 1.5 mm and certainly seem thick enough. Only thing thicker is going to be frame lock... 🗡️👊👍
      Addendum: I have to wonder what the fear is from users regarding liners that aren't massively thick 🤔 Will the liner bend or fold before one loses their grip? Engagement is 35% and liner is 1.5mm. How many pounds of pressure would this take??? 🤔

    Big, eye-catching flipper. From the ad copy: " One flip of this blade and the bad guys will duck for cover."
    Guess if it was made from CPM 154, they would drop their pistols and go catatonic.

    • @OGBladeReviews
      @OGBladeReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there was a purpose behind that to strengthen and define the edge even those the aesthetics don't look quite right. I don't spend a lot of time looking at the point because I let the other guy do that! 😄👍👊
