Digital Temperature Controller Wire Connection For Refrigerator

Does the solenoid valve have the same purpose as a fridge thermostat? .My fridge/frezer does not have a solenoid valve only a thermostat

The solenoid is for reheat gas aka defrost. They are very uncommon on smaller systems like freezers and fridges. Those mostly stick with electric heat but the wiring is the same.
