Mani Sir has done exceptional job in adapting the story of Ramayana. This story was way ahead of it's time and we as an audience weren't ready for it.
Casting was messed up. Abhishek Bachchan's acting was not matured enough. And Aishwarya has always been poor. This film required some powerful performance. And the actors were a big let down. Tamil version of Raavan was exceptionally good.
First it not at all adapting of ramayan, this is not a story of ramayan, clear this thing from mind.
U stupid. Shree Ram & Shree Laxman were God & always respect women & treat them as there mother or sister but what this director has shown. How can u say it's a adaptation of Ramayana 😡.

Instances of gang rape, rape to 'teach a lesson' to people, their relatives, as communal violences, still happen in India..at an alarming number...and we give a closed eye to all these..as long as nothing is happening to us, it's a story..
Not only on India but all over the world ..if you observe carefully in wars or any societal frictions women and children faced the most ...and what you have mentioned in your first sentence it was so right..to take the revenge on someone they rape their women...
These scenes send chill down your spine, almost impossible to watch. Such are the brutal realities of live, few things can never be forgotten and few people can never be forgiven. Hats off to the Director Mani and all the actors.
Wonderful acting. Truly heartbreaking. Unfortunately such incidents aren't uncommon in tribal areas. Uniformed officers should be respected but always have to be held accountable else they will start becoming uniformed criminals.

This movie is very good no doubt but don't compare it to ramayan, no one touched surpanakha in Ramayan. This scene and Abhishek's acting gives goosebumps.

@@akritigoel9497 It's not an exact interpretation of Ramayana. Surpanaka's nose and ears were cut, that didn't happen in this movie either. Nor was Vikram really as virtuous as Ram. This movie is loosely inspired by Ramayana. Just like Rajneeti was loosely inspired by Mahabharat, not a true interpretation of it. I think Adipurush is supposed to be an actual Ramayana story.

@@user-qo8ce9rz7h he cut her nose but never molested her, and ravan didn't touch Sita because if Ravan would have abused her he would have died, he had molested and raped so many women already, and also Sita was so pious that any man disregarding her will to abuse her would have died, he didn't touch her and kept convincing her to come to her bed as he couldn't use his force, Hanuman would have easily brought Sita alone with her without the war, but Sita asked Hanuman that it's not just me there are so many woman like me who are here, they all need to be freed and Ravana in Lanka ( which he had stolen from his brother kuber, god of wealth ) was already doing so much atrocities needs to be finished for betterment of humankind. And also people who think that he was a big Shiv Bhakt is also not true he was kept as a prisoner by God so he started worshiping Shiva for his freedom. Stop glorifying Ravan.

Great actors and acting. Strong story and stunning visuals. Yet the subtle propaganda destroyed this movie. What was the need to misrepresent Ramayana? Even grand filmmakers like Mani Ratanam don’t read our true Itihas, from original source material…. and then create biased, reversed narratives like this.
