(1) Read verses 1-2. How does understanding that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus impact how you relate to God?
(2) Read verses 3-4. What does it mean that the requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us? How does this shape your view of grace?
(3) Read verses 5-6. How do you differentiate between setting your mind on the flesh versus setting your mind on the Spirit? Which is your new “default” now?
(4) Read verses 7-8. What is a “mind set on the flesh” exactly? What does God think of fleshly religious effort?
(5) Read verses 9-10. What does it mean to you that you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit? How might this truth impact your view of everything you do?
(6) Read verse 11. What do you think the Spirit giving life to your mortal body really means? Is Paul referring to now or in the future?
(7) Read verses 12-13. What does it mean to put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit? Is this currently happening in you? Or is it something that could only potentially happen? Explain.
(8) Read verse 14. How does being led by the Spirit affirm your identity as a child of God, and what does this mean for your daily decisions and actions?
