This song, its tune and the verses are not new. It was a old traditional song called "52 kalli shand(छंंद" and it was sung by dhadi's. Dhadi rhymes are in forms of Kalli, shand, vaar etc. Arjan velly was actually a man from village Kaunke, Jagraon, Punjab. The vaar were often sung before going to battle field. Even today, dhadi vaar are sung by dhadi's near Akal Takht during evening. This tradition was began by Guru Hargobind Sahib. He invited 2 dhadi's named Nathmal and Abdullah with due respect. Till today dhadi's use to sing shand, kalli and vaar related to history. The tune of vaar is the same sung by sidhu moosewala which was actually a "VAAR" in the form of song.
