You know... You never realize how big these things are till you get on the wheel/joystick. I'm like "I can handle this!" But then I get on a tiny hitachi or JCB excavator and I am scared for my life. I can only imagine what a 994/95 must be like. But I will be able to operate one of these bad boys. One of my biggest reasons to live is to experience the day I get on a 980, and load up trucks.
I work for a company doing similar work. I'm a loader operator and was wondering how you handle loading partial buckets? Our loaders don't have scales so everything is an estimated guess. I work with a 1.5 & 3 yd bucket. Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated.
We work with 1, 1.5 and 3 yard buckets. I found that it was just another skill to learn, I've done thousands of half buckets now and I've gotten to the point where i can get scarily estimate a half bucket on instinct haha. Take your time and get a proper half/partial bucket, get out of the machine and examine what it looks like, keep that image in your head and now you know what your trying to accomplish when doing those types of buckets!! Practice makes perfect!!
love watching these videos all thje way from the UK our shovels have scales in the buckets how do you guys know how much your putting in the trucks or are they weighed on a bridge after being laoded?
Hey thank you! Really depends on the place you're looking at, but definitely familiarize yourself with how the machines work and how to use them properly, there is tons of videos and tools online to do that, and also have initiative and show that your willing to learn and put in the work. The RIGHT employer will notice that and 9/10 times give you that chance to prove yourself!

why do you shake the bucket when dumping if your gonna empty the entire thing anyways? i understand if your trying to sprinkle some out but why shake it if your emptying it anyways?

I totally agree!! One day id love to run a 980, imagine loading a truck with 1-2 buckets!
It really is an amazing feeling running something that big i work in a mine and run a cat 988 twin stick 3 buckets to load a semi full

Why don't you use the joystick F-N-R switch?? Much easier than slapping the column each shift.

not all of the switches are great, some on the komatsu's are horrible but cat for me i personally have always liked

That would make a sick POV! I use a GOPRO hero 12 with a head mount!

Some products get stuck in the corners of the bucket, so i shake it to make sure it all gets out
