  • In this 1975 segment for KDFW-TV's music maker series "Young Four Country," Dallas-based reporter and producer Jim Ruddy sits down with Roger Daltrey, lead singer of the rock band The Who. Daltrey stopped in Dallas on his way to a concert in Fort Worth to promote his solo career. In the footage, Daltrey holds an autograph signing at a record store. The scene erupts into pandaemonium as fans break down the doors trying to get close to the singer. Then, Ruddy talks with Daltrey and Bill Curbishley, manager for The Who, about the former's frustrations about connecting with fans and his approach to singing and acting. Also included are clips of the film Tommy (1975) featuring Daltrey and Elton John. While a section of the footage appeared on Eyewitness News, the edited "Young Four Country" segment never aired.
