Try the UPS with a a computer attached instead of a lightbulb.... i clearly saw the lightbulb flicker when you unplugged the AC. Your computer won't like that.
The in-rush current to start those induction motors can get up to 80A for a very short time which this was not designed to handle so it's working as designed. You could equip your motor tools with soft starters so they slowly get up to speed and then they would work. I had a 5000W inverter that could not handle my miter saw and it would trip into bypass mode using the grid power to kick it off. Not something you can do in an off-grid situation :D
As far as the computer power backup goes it may not work when u unplugged the 110 power cord the light blinked if that ment the power dropped out and came back in an instant that may mess with the computer a true ups would not blink the light no dropout
Thanks for Sharing Marty... This is my go to Solar Generator. - BLUETTI AC200P Portable Power Station | 2,000W it works GREAT!! It's almost as good as my Honda 2200 EI
these videos should be labeled as 'includes paid endorsement' which I've seen on other ytube channels on the thumbnail. I don't watch paid endorsements and want to know up front if that is what this is. Thanks.
the reason it would power like a table saw I it up and this is what I found Using this simple relationship principle, you can calculate the available wattage of any given circuit size: 15-amp 120-volt circuit: 15 amps x 120 volts = 1,800 watts so whit that info we see why it would not run it
15 amp saw but how many amps to start. Can't handle the starting amps. You will need a transformer or a delay start device which would reduce your in-rush current
Great job on pushing the unit to it limits. I am in the market for a off grid unit for camping. and the first unit I brought did not hold up to what it was advertised to do.
Thumbs up 👍 I am seeing people using a Softstart adapter for taking the load and letting the amps come in slower. You might want to check out. Thanks for sharing 😊
I believe some of the most difficult decisions isn't only the amount of watts, but how many amps it pushes/accepts. I am still looking for a portable system that can push/accept 90 amps (220 v) so that I can run AC, clothes dryer, and cook top without tripping the battery breakers. Because as you alluded to, finding a system that turns itself back on is difficult to find. If you can find a system that can add portable solar generators together to get 90 amps, it is cost prohibitive. I had such high hopes for Apollo until their unit came out with all the problems: shocks, poor app, wouldn't turn itself back on once the batteries were recharged, and so on. I have and love Ecoflow Delta Pros, but you can only get 30 amps.
I think you need to research the term "Generator". That unit doesn't "generate" anything. It's a battery that you charge up and discharge. Generators don't have batteries (to produce power). It's a glorified flash light ok. Very useful, but a flashlight none the same...
It's not his fault per se. Marketing decided that these kind of products are magically called "solar generators" even if it's just an advanced power bank. He is sponsored by them so he is using their words to describe the product. It's the same as calling a power bank an "electricity generator" because you can charge it up by plugging it into the wall, it makes no sense but here we are.
+Paul Bruni a generator requires input energy. This generator can use the sun as its input generates electricity and stores it in a battery. A Honda used gasoline but can’t store it.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving Yes, good point. I agree, when using solar panels to recharge the battery, then yes, it is a solar generator - which I believe you said you like to call them. Using 120v to charge the battery reduces it to an inverter. Thanks for the reply.
Real world scenario, nothing ever goes as planned...lol 😂😅 Great product, common household usage, small appliances. Studio frig, fans, and lights run off mine. FYI Love ya'll ❤️

Do not let the nay sayers influence your decisions. Your channel is my favorite channel on youtube!!!
Martin Johnson must think that all the negative comments are a joke! I unsubscribed and he gave me a hearted reply. He better start taking things more serious or more people are going to unsubscribe and i'm sure some have already unsubscribed already! Greed will get him nowhere!
+Jay Smith doing a few gear test video helps us keep making free content for you. We still publish our building content every Monday like always. The gear testing is a bonus video publish on someThursdays. We loose and gain subscribers every day.
I figure for you to get this product, you have to do these commercials , But have to tell you, a few moments in a normal build video is good, but, a whole video with nothing but this, is just not what I watch your channel for.
The reality is you're not worried about if the unit will start something but how long will it allow you to run something like a fan or any other system before it needs recharging. Yes, it's obviously a pass through, meaning you can run things at the same time time it's charging but what about how long it will run something once the sun goes down. You failed to show the charts that usually come with these types of units
Av watched your videos for quite some time and av really enjoyed them. I love building too. But this was a commercial all the way. Not very interesting.
15a AC induction motor saws draw over 100A on startup. None of them run them well. And if you have anything else connected to any of them while you run those types of motors the AC output is a disaster and can damage other devices, especially AC/DC high frequency power bricks. Never, ever run AC induction motors on these devices.
We ran a chop saw, small compressor, and a nail gun (one at a time) with an Okmo 2000 last weekend. It was a rock star as we installed a t&g ceiling in a remote cabin.
For those of you Martin Johnson fans who are disappointed by this "infomercial", keep in mind that a real infomercial would not allow any shortcomings of their product to be shown. Martin found that the initial surge current on heavy motors is too much for this unit to handle, and he wasn't afraid to show that. And, yes, his video was even sponsored by the manufacturer! I like honesty!
I don't escpecially care for an 18 minute commercial. Goes *way* beyond what his and so many other channels like it seem to be doing more of lately. Really like this channel showing what they are there to do - build a house, not push a 20 minute 'show an tell' advertisement. - either positive or negative review. They don't have 1/2 million subscribers that came on board to see commercials.
I’ll be honest, I appreciate that the sponsored videos are whole videos and that he doesn’t insert very many paid promotions in the normal videos. I really do love the channel, and know that the Johnsons only do this and need the support. So here’s what I do, I see a video like this, hit play, skip to the end and give it a thumbs up. It’s good for them, and I can look forward to seeing the normal content on the next one.
You might notice that some of our most popular videos are not about building. Just sort the videos by most popular. Our channel is about off grid living. Building is just what we happen to be doing most of the time. That will likely be changing once the house is done.
Hi Martin first off all the nasty comments about this being an inforcomercial don't let it get to you they are sad individuals if not happy they can go sick it. I really don't mind these videos intact I rather like them because if I am looking at these products it's nice to see them being demonstrated by real of grid people so I can find out if this will benifitme . I know you either get the products free or at discount and /paid for as they Spencer you but that's really OK with me . All the petty comments or really nasty comments well they are one either jealous or plain nasty folk who really need to get a life if they don't like it switch if skip it or unsubscribe . But they come on comments and mouth off little samos. Any way I for one love you and jules and love being on this journey of your home build and may jesus bless you all
