Hi Cryptomined, just wanted to say thanks for a good couple of videos you made, helped me alot, I purchased a rx470 8GB combined your rx480 and this video to tweak the card, modded it got an extra 3MHS out of the 470and then followed this vid to get the voltage down lost about half MHZ but about about half the voltage to around was at 130w now at 68w -113 voltage and fan speed is at 43% so really happy, thanks again

Big Question for me. I have watched all of your videos and have modded my Sapphire 470s/480s and MSI 470s with your techniques. Thank you very much for showing us how to do this! I just noticed that I have modded ALL of my cards with the v bios switch in the gaming oc mode the whole time. They have been running fine for about 2 days now with the 470s at 27.5mhs and the 480s at 29.5mhs. THE QUESTION: should I re-flash the bios on them and are there long term effects of modding such as I have modded?
well it is ok, they should work fine no matter which VBios you flash over to be honest, just make sure you keep a back up of your OC bios. TBH, you should be ok as its not overvolted or overclocked too much, but only time will tell :) Although increasing the timings too much can damage the card, this should not be too much, what does the most damage over time is overheating and overvolting, so just keep them as cool as you can and it should be ok.
This is mostly for those who dont care about power usage (those living in countries with practically free electricity)... otherwise this is also great for those who don't like to use downloaded roms and just want to edit their own rom with polaris bios editor... get it down to 70W!~
Hi! Flashing your cards will inevitably reduce their lifespan right? If that's so, then the question is if it is still better to mine faster for lesser time than to mine slower at a more conservative rate... How much do you think or maybe have heard the lifespan of the GPUs is reduced by flashing them? :) I have 6 NITRO+ rx 470 for little month that a month already, all of them (except one) mine at 24.6 MH/s (the other one allways mines a at 21MH/s don't know why) Thank you in advance! This video tutorial is very clear! But im not still sure if I should do it or not because of the things that I have already told asked! :) Im very open to read your arguments and maybe you end up convincing me of doing it. Great Videos! I was wondering out of the brands you have played with, which is your favorite 470 and 480? Stock is low in many places and cost on the 480 sometimes is a lot higher. I would want to run of course the highest hash rate and getting around that 70w power would be great. Thanks! I know that trixx app looks pretty cool, but don't want that to be the deciding factor.
Hi Cryptomined, after editing the rom and flashing the card, you then tweak additional settings with Trixx, can you not take those values that you tested with Trix and put them in polaris and flash the rom again, giving you the card at peak independent of any OS etc? I hope i am not late to the party, i have been wanting to do this for ever!, i have a Powercolor Red Devil RX470 4GB Samsung ram. I would assume i can follow the same guide. I can make backups of both my bios settings on the cards. I actually dont know which is for what. I actually without flashing was able to get 29 MH/s myself i really could not believe it. I wanted to take a screenshot or something, but didnt. I wanted to then insert my second card .... and i did and i dont know what , i might have struggled to get the drivers installed for the second card, not sure. I tell you , these AMD drivers a real pain to get installed at times. Seeing it is 2020, which drivers should i be using ? Do i use the OLD utilities you used for flashing my card ?
I dont have that card and wont be buying any... thinking of trying a couple 470 8g, but still not sure on that..., but the 480 4g should be the same timing edits as the 470 4G card as it should be the same memory. I would try copying up the 1500 strap or do the timing strap copies from this video. Then change your memory frequency, GPU clock and voltage in trixx after flashing your card to the new memory timings. the 470 8g has the same timings as the 480 8g. The 470 4g should have the same timings as the 480 4g.

Hi, I have not tried the MSI cards as they are not available here, only imported, so they are too expensive. But the Sapphire is a better card, so I recommend the sapphire card over the MSI. Hey I am now building a rig off 6 gpus and I did exactly your guide. It runned stable at 1250/2000. some needed to run a bit lower and 2 can run 2050. But when I do like gpu clock 1050/1950 or 2000+ 1 or more off the gpus are crashing and it stops mining after a while. Do 1 off the gpus then got a very bad asic or doing something wrong? It does not really show the reason so it can by a lot off reasons. Also I can't get the wattage lower then 105 watt. Maybe some off the trixx fuctions not working? Edit: I mean I can get it down a bit but not the same as your video. Problem with that is even with 5 gpus the psu off 1000 watts is running at its max. So really wanna get the watts down so I can add a 6th. I have the same sapphire nitro+ oc hynix as you got. Now gonna experiment again in a few minutes. Any tips you can give me? Update: got it stable mining at 1150 / 1950 think can go 2000+ to. But the wattage is not lowering yet its mining at 103 watts. so gonna try a other bios and trying msi afterburner. Update2: All that had no effect running at 0mv is 133 watts and -100mv = 103 watts. I am missing something or is this as low I can go?

I know this video is a few months old but, my Sapphire Nitro RX 470 OC does not have a switch? Also my card shows 2 straps of Timings do I need to change both straps?

Thank u sir. But what about gpu memory error in hwinfo. As we increase memory clock above 1900 or 2000mhz gpu memory error started increasing. Most of the people say it should be zero.so what about that. Can we ignore that gpu memory error? Does that have bad affect on gpu? Or we get no share in ethereum mining? Plz answer
Hi I did the BIOS mod and had it mining and then I started messing w/ OC of the memory and the screen went black. Tried reseating GPU, different cables, etc. but no video signal to monitor. Swapped out GPUs and the new one works so the PCI slot is fine. Did I fry my GPU?? It was only a week old!! FML. Let me know what you think.
its not so much the quantity of ram that matters (though you need 3GB or more to mine ethereum), its more about the speed of the ram. most 570 4g cards have mem that runs at 7Gbps where the 580s have mem that runs at 8Gbps, this makes a slight difference in hashrate for ethereum, but not really much for zcash for example. Brand again is not as important as components used in certain cards.. most brands have a large line up of cards with varying memory types for example, and this will make the largest difference in how they perform. XFX, Sapphire and Powercolor are generally great cards. I personally stay away from the big manufacturers who make both Nvidia and AMD cards as they tend to reuse heatsinks and fans on AMD cards that were originally designed for Nvidia cards. The AMD only companies like XFX, Powercolor and Sapphire design their heatsinks with AMD cards in mind and nothing else.
hi had a power spike about a month ago and had to replace the motherboard and processor, anyway, when I fire up trixx and noticed it before the power spike, trixx was stating gpu voltage on running the programme at +144550 mv also the clock went to 8000 and the gpu clock at 2000 on my rx 470 when I move the slider down to -100mv I its like 3 pixels from the end, the range on this slider is from +14550 to -200 right in the middle where it should be 0 % it says its +7824 have you ever come across this if so how do I fix it? I have a 380x windforce installed too running at stock speeds

Sorry Cryptomined, for being so invasive. I did the flash for my RX 470 with Elpida Memory in the Silent bios side of the card, as described at the video, and all went smooth. I am now hashe-in Eth with Claymore's at a steady 25.3MH/s, from a 22.5 that was on stock bios in OC bios side. There is only one thing that i dont understand. When i open GPU-Z or STRIX, it shows GPU clock at 1260mhz and Memory clock at 1750Mhz. i don't now if it should be like this or not. I see that it should be GPU at 1060mhz and Mem at 1950, or am i missing something??? Please if any one knows, let me know, before i begin with the overclock.

MSI Z97 Gaming will this motheboard support 7 gpus together for sure 100% if i buy 7 gpus like Sapphire Nitro+ RX470 4G which means i can get around 196mh/s of course if i modded bios like this and will be power supply of 750 w 80+ evga enough for Intel Celeron G1820 2,7ghz, 4gb ddr3 ,250gb hdd and 7 gpus if one use around 70-80w = 560w after modded bios.I'd try flash one by one gpus and after flashing put all cards to work in each slot will this method work ?
I have not used this motherboard yet (Msi z97 gaming5) but I plan to build this system in the next week. I should do a video on building it though i will probably use 5 480s and 2 470s,,. still pondering that... power supply is something I am also pondering, maybe with 7 GPU's it is really better to run 2 power supplies to get more than enough 6 pin power connectors to run each GPU riser off of a separate PSU molex or sata cable... but 750W is not enough regardless... your going to be looking at MAYBE more or less a 1000W power supply if you are lucky and can undervolt all your cards successfully... I would recommend and it is probably safer to get 1200 or 1300W to have some extra wattage room and not run the PSU at near 100%. I am considering getting 2 650W or 2 750W PSUs and linking them together... or run them off of the 2000W leadex that I already have as it has 9 8pin connections.. so... if you went with a single PSU you would need 8 8pin PSU connections so that you could connect the 7 GPU's and the CPU.. the only PSUs that I have experience with that have that many 8pin connections are the AX corsair series and Leadex 1600 or 2000W PSUs... but you can look at others as I am sure some others also do... but you probably have to look at the higher end single PSUs have that, usually 1200W and up. even though GPUZ says 70W, the card will pull more total from the power supply... so dont use that number as your estimation. personally i cant get my 6 card 470 sapphire nitro rig less than about 800-850 watts with undervolting and I am using the boysie mod on them all, others may have more luck. That being said, many people do have success with this board and it comes highly recommended for mining by many people and it seems to be the 3rd most used board for mining today (at least with EthOS) If you come back in 1-2 weeks I should have some real life experience with this board and will be able to let you know exactly what I did to get it working.

some recommend against it, say you should have 2 in and flash the second one.. yet lots of people recommend only having one in the system so you dont screw up any others - ... I always only have one in my system... flashed cards maybe 50 times the last month and never had a problem, so I say flash it up
sorry my english, i saw one of your videos that the card you flashed has no cable coming out of it, so i thought that you have used another videocard for the screen, while you flash the one that is not hooked up, is that correckt? i mean i only have this card on my system anyway, so just wanted to be sure that i can flash it while i am using it!!
the nitro have the 8 pin power on the back of the card, so you just can't see it in the video but it is plugged in. I used the same video card that was powering the screen. If you are worried, try to use the command line to flash as there is less chance for it to freeze and crash. Just make sure that Nothing else is running the GPU - no trixx, no miner, etc... screen powered by the GPU you are flashing should be ok. Bios is generally used when the OS is loading, you should be ok
My GPU-Z does not show the 3rd Asic Quality tab. I only just installed the program so I should have the latest version. Have they taken this feature away or do I need to do something to make it appear? Many thanks
I know this is one of your older videos but my question is relevant to this one. I did this before with one card and it worked perfectly. I got 2 more of the exact same card and same memory type and then flashed them 1 at a time while in the mobo by themselves. But now when I flash any of them I lose the capability of controlling them in MSI afterburner or Trixx. Any idea what would cause that?
Well figured out my bios issue sort of. Not sure why but there must have been an issue in the Display driver. After using DDU and then reinstalling the drivers everything is working fine now. I'm able to mod bios and then control them anyway I want. now to work on getting those voltages down I'll be good to go.
Hi This is very exciting but I run into a problem that no body looks like experience so far. I have 2 MSI RX470 Gaming X - After following the steps I got a "successful completion of the bios mod" restart windows and then, windows works but the graphic card is not recognized any more. GPUZ shows GPU Clock and memory 0, Pixel fill rate 0, Bandwidth 0.reinstalling drivers do not help. after flashing back to original everything is fine. I tired few times same result. After flashing no AMD GPU found. Any advice ?
Hello Crytomined, I made a mistake. Was making the modification in a rig with 2 Rx 470 and Strix Radeon R9 380. I changed the numbers the GPU and modified the R9 380. And this card had not saved the original file. You can help me fix this. it is possible to reset the card graphic? I tested it on 3 machines and they do not recognize. Thanks!!@

Dont you think putting your memory from 1750 to 2070 is going to destroy your card in long term ? that is too much overclock and you didnt change woltage at all
not so easily as with polaris bios editor, and I have no idea of the changes you would make exactly to make that card perfect. You would have to use a hex editor and do it manually. There are some guys who can create you a custom Bios, like Wolf, but they charge a lot of money

ill unplug 4 cards from the 6 GPU rig and see what that runs from the wall in the morning without any extra undervolts, GPU's flashed with Boysies Modded Rom... (running ASRock Pro BTC Motherboard, 4 Gigs ram, G1840 CPU on the stock cooler and 2 Nitro 470 4g GPUs).. ill reply back as soon as I have the time to do that for you.
I have an MSI RX 470 Armor 8GB OC (Samsung memory) with Radeon driver version 16.300.2311.0. Will I need to do something to bypass a signature check if I mod the ROM? Or can I simply mod the strap timings, flash the ROM and reboot without any issues of the driver refusing to load due to the modded ROM?
i personally think its better to have extra headroom when it comes to a PSU, so id recommend the 1200G2 or 1200P2 EVGA even if your not going to use it all (or the 1300G2 or P2), others might say 1000W is enough, but its kinda tight with modded bios and without an undervolt and GPU downclock
Hello, I have a SAPPHIRE NITRO + Radeon ™ RX 470 4G D5 OC (Hynix), and I followed the steps in your BIOS Falsh guide. However, after doing so and running the miner's script, I throw an error saying that my GPU does not have enough memory. Additionally, the catalyst control center says that it can not be executed as there is no card connected. So I had to restore the BIOS. I think it has to do with the driver, since I do not understand that it can be wrong. I am using the "AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.4" version. This is another problem that I have, only with this driver the ethermine recognizes the GPU, with any other it is not possible to do it. Please, I ask for your urgent help. Cryptomined, I'm not quite sure what you mean, because I'm new to this. But I have 8 GB of RAM, and if I run the miner with the default configuration of the card, I can mine without any problem. The issue is when I apply the flash to the bios.
you can flash cards connected through a riser, this has never been a problem for me... i flash most of my cards actually through a riser. I'm not sure why you had problems flashing through a riser. you should not need the relive patch on those drivers... were you using 16.12 drivers? i have another video on 16.12 drivers and the patch if you check my video playlists you said you were using 16.11.4... which is not a relive driver... the link you gave me is for relive.. which I have a video on here: th-cam.com/video/c3kDXfH6M5A/w-d-xo.html
try to lower your Overclock, not all cards can go so high, some dont like going past 1900. let me know if that works... if its crashing, keep trying to lower the clock until it does not crash
My timing Mhz in Polaris Bios is 1601, 3242, 3653, 4022, 4556, 5049, 5582, 5787, 6074....... and not 1425, 1500, 1625, 1750, 2000.... whyyy??? what i make false?? pls help
That means your VRAM is Elpida and not Hynix. Do not try to flash that with this method. Cryptomined has an other video where he shows us how to flash Elpida VRAM cards.
No, I have 4gb card Sapphire RX 470 OC Nitro+ with Samsung memory. I have read all that you wrote but I did not find the solution. It appears that samsung memory is used for 8Gb cards and for RX 480 also.
Aleksandar Šalamon you should compare the timings with the 4g and 8g roms, and see what you can do. Im not sure but i have heard of others getting 4g with samsung - I assume they are really 8g cards but set to use only 4g, but again I do not know for sure. best you can do is try some mods yourself and compare with whats already out there.. if i had i could try myself but I dont
I think so, but so many people have asked about so many cards, and I remember some people having problems with MSI here and there, but also some people having success.. I really forget what everyone has said... the best thing to do is to check through these comments for anyone who asked the same question (about 480 4g cards) and see what they have said. (since I dont actually have these cards).. also check through the DIY 480 8g comments for anyone posting about the 480 4g cards.

i have a video to upload on the best/most used socket 1150 motherboards for mining. I use h81 pro btc, b85 anniversary and a gigabyte board (though just 4 in that board). Id also recommend the biostar H81S2 as its as good as the Pro BTC in reality... and if you want 7 GPU take the MSI Z97 Gaming 5. those 4 boards + the H97 anniversary make up the 5 most popular and used 1150 motherboards for mining.

Yes, I have one Samsung 470 4g nitro, but I forget if i copied up the 1500 strap to 2000, or the 1750 strap to 2000. Try the 1750 -> 2000 first, and if that does not produce anything, try the 1500 -> 2000.
what drivers are you using? you have the Nitro card? or sapphire reference? try to use DDU to uninstall drivers and reinstall 16.10.1. which driver version do you have installed now?
I dont have one, but I have heard of people having success with copying the 1750 timing to the 2000 timing , but someone here said that did not work for them... you can try that though I can not guarantee it will work, you can report back after if you decide to try it.
yup and if you have an 8G 470 nitro, the memory should be samsung, just like the 480's. So if you do the same to the memory straps and then overclock the memory in Trixx, and downclock the GPU and undervolt from -50 to - 120 mV you should get similar results (29+ MH's at a good wattage) Try copying the 1750 timing strap into the 2000 timing strap as I did in my first 480 video OR Try copying the 1750 timing strap into the 2000 and copy the 1625 timing into the 1750 timing strap. that should give you the same results. If you want you can upload a bios and I can take a quick peak at it to see if the timings are the same as a 8g 480 and upload you some screen shots of what to change.
***** i think its about 25 stock, and I think you can OC the memory to get about that but im not positive..., and not sure about the bios mods on that card.
Hi! I just built a 7 470 mining rig. I used Win10, Asus Strix 470 4bg cards and a MSI z97 gaming 5 motherboard and I cant get the GPUs to mine any faster than 25 mh/s after modding. I get this blue screen displaying the error: Thread_stuck_on_ device_ driver over and over. Can anyone help me?
did you change your bios settings like I did for mine? change pcie lanes to gen2, and change pcie configuration to 8x4x4x. if that does not work, maybe one of your cards does not like the modded bios. I have one card that will not accept the upped memomry timings and crashes upon use when modded, so I need to run it unmodded.

I just finished installing everything and I cant really say theres any improvement at all... Suddenly it stopped outputting any signal out of any card, and now I am operating the computer through teamviewer. I cant get past 25.4 mh/s and 1100 core clock and 1850 mem clock without getting the computer restarted. This really frustrated me, Ive got 7 more cards on the way and I expected them to run at almost 27-28 mh/s
Hi Laszlo, have you modified any other settings? undervolted extra? overclocked the memory in wattman or trixx? if your using trixx and having this issue, try to minimize those changes or stop using trixx... if you still have those problems, flash back to original bios, I'm not sure why your card would totally reject the memory timings, but maybe something on the card doesnt like it? what is your ASIC value? Did you change the TDP in the bios?
Hello, Thank you for your quick answer. No, I modified only what you too. Ofcourse, I am using the trixx and the 28Mhs not stable. The BIOS mod was right, but it is not the best hash rate / power setting, need the fine tuning. 27Mhs/100W is stable, but it is not the best setting. The 28,3Mhs/75W available with watt tool, but the problem is the voltage offset, because this is not permanent value. The ASIC value of the card is 75,3.
Ethereum has no value for the simple reason that there is no limits on the number that can be produced, Bitcoin has a limit of 21 million and is impossible to mine more than that. The best crypto to buy now is IOTA, it as no transaction fees like bitcoin and ether and the transactions are fast because it is not based on the blockchain. Want a good crypto to invest ? IOTA is the best for many reasons.

Big Question for me. I have watched all of your videos and have modded my Sapphire 470s/480s and MSI 470s with your techniques. Thank you very much for showing us how to do this! I just noticed that I have modded ALL of my cards with the v bios switch in the gaming oc mode the whole time. They have been running fine for about 2 days now with the 470s at 27.5mhs and the 480s at 29.5mhs. THE QUESTION: should I re-flash the bios on them and are there long term effects of modding such as I have modded?
well it is ok, they should work fine no matter which VBios you flash over to be honest, just make sure you keep a back up of your OC bios. TBH, you should be ok as its not overvolted or overclocked too much, but only time will tell :) Although increasing the timings too much can damage the card, this should not be too much, what does the most damage over time is overheating and overvolting, so just keep them as cool as you can and it should be ok.
This is mostly for those who dont care about power usage (those living in countries with practically free electricity)... otherwise this is also great for those who don't like to use downloaded roms and just want to edit their own rom with polaris bios editor... get it down to 70W!~
Did you try XFX Radeon RX 470 4GB (RX-470P4LFB6)? Will they speed of 28-29 Mh/s?

Hi! Flashing your cards will inevitably reduce their lifespan right? If that's so, then the question is if it is still better to mine faster for lesser time than to mine slower at a more conservative rate...
How much do you think or maybe have heard the lifespan of the GPUs is reduced by flashing them? :) I have 6 NITRO+ rx 470 for little month that a month already, all of them (except one) mine at 24.6 MH/s (the other one allways mines a at 21MH/s don't know why)

Great Videos! I was wondering out of the brands you have played with, which is your favorite 470 and 480? Stock is low in many places and cost on the 480 sometimes is a lot higher. I would want to run of course the highest hash rate and getting around that 70w power would be great. Thanks! I know that trixx app looks pretty cool, but don't want that to be the deciding factor.
Hi Cryptomined, after editing the rom and flashing the card, you then tweak additional settings with Trixx, can you not take those values that you tested with Trix and put them in polaris and flash the rom again, giving you the card at peak independent of any OS etc?

I dont have that card and wont be buying any... thinking of trying a couple 470 8g, but still not sure on that..., but the 480 4g should be the same timing edits as the 470 4G card as it should be the same memory. I would try copying up the 1500 strap or do the timing strap copies from this video. Then change your memory frequency, GPU clock and voltage in trixx after flashing your card to the new memory timings.
the 470 8g has the same timings as the 480 8g. The 470 4g should have the same timings as the 480 4g.

Hi, I have not tried the MSI cards as they are not available here, only imported, so they are too expensive. But the Sapphire is a better card, so I recommend the sapphire card over the MSI. Hey I am now building a rig off 6 gpus and I did exactly your guide. It runned stable at 1250/2000. some needed to run a bit lower and 2 can run 2050.
But when I do like gpu clock 1050/1950 or 2000+ 1 or more off the gpus are crashing and it stops mining after a while. Do 1 off the gpus then got a very bad asic or doing something wrong? It does not really show the reason so it can by a lot off reasons.
Also I can't get the wattage lower then 105 watt. Maybe some off the trixx fuctions not working? Edit: I mean I can get it down a bit but not the same as your video.
Problem with that is even with 5 gpus the psu off 1000 watts is running at its max. So really wanna get the watts down so I can add a 6th.
I have the same sapphire nitro+ oc hynix as you got.
Now gonna experiment again in a few minutes. Any tips you can give me?
Update: got it stable mining at 1150 / 1950 think can go 2000+ to. But the wattage is not lowering yet its mining at 103 watts. so gonna try a other bios and trying msi afterburner.
Update2: All that had no effect running at 0mv is 133 watts and -100mv = 103 watts. I am missing something or is this as low I can go?

I know this video is a few months old but, my Sapphire Nitro RX 470 OC does not have a switch? Also my card shows 2 straps of Timings do I need to change both straps?

Hi I did the BIOS mod and had it mining and then I started messing w/ OC of the memory and the screen went black. Tried reseating GPU, different cables, etc. but no video signal to monitor. Swapped out GPUs and the new one works so the PCI slot is fine. Did I fry my GPU?? It was only a week old!! FML. Let me know what you think.
Do I have to run TRIXX every time to keep this voltage settings? I dont like how it replace WattMan driver fan settings.
couple of questions:
1. Does ram on gpu matters? i.e. 4gb or 8gb?
2. Does brand and model matters? i.e. XFX, MSI, Sapphire nitro, Sapphire nitro+.
its not so much the quantity of ram that matters (though you need 3GB or more to mine ethereum), its more about the speed of the ram. most 570 4g cards have mem that runs at 7Gbps where the 580s have mem that runs at 8Gbps, this makes a slight difference in hashrate for ethereum, but not really much for zcash for example. Brand again is not as important as components used in certain cards.. most brands have a large line up of cards with varying memory types for example, and this will make the largest difference in how they perform. XFX, Sapphire and Powercolor are generally great cards. I personally stay away from the big manufacturers who make both Nvidia and AMD cards as they tend to reuse heatsinks and fans on AMD cards that were originally designed for Nvidia cards. The AMD only companies like XFX, Powercolor and Sapphire design their heatsinks with AMD cards in mind and nothing else.
How about models like pulse, nitro and nitro+? Do they affect the hashrate?

had a power spike about a month ago and had to replace the motherboard and processor, anyway, when I fire up trixx and noticed it before the power spike, trixx was stating gpu voltage on running the programme at +144550 mv also the clock went to 8000 and the gpu clock at 2000 on my rx 470 when I move the slider down to -100mv I its like 3 pixels from the end, the range on this slider is from +14550 to -200 right in the middle where it should be 0 % it says its +7824 have you ever come across this if so how do I fix it?

I did the flash for my RX 470 with Elpida Memory in the Silent bios side of the card, as described at the video, and all went smooth. I am now hashe-in Eth with Claymore's at a steady 25.3MH/s, from a 22.5 that was on stock bios in OC bios side.
There is only one thing that i dont understand. When i open GPU-Z or STRIX, it shows GPU clock at 1260mhz and Memory clock at 1750Mhz. i don't now if it should be like this or not. I see that it should be GPU at 1060mhz and Mem at 1950, or am i missing something??? Please if any one knows, let me know, before i begin with the overclock.

MSI Z97 Gaming will this motheboard support 7 gpus together for sure 100% if i buy 7 gpus like Sapphire Nitro+ RX470 4G which means i can get around 196mh/s of course if i modded bios like this and will be power supply of 750 w 80+ evga enough for Intel Celeron G1820 2,7ghz, 4gb ddr3 ,250gb hdd and 7 gpus if one use around 70-80w = 560w after modded bios.I'd try flash one by one gpus and after flashing put all cards to work in each slot will this method work ?
I have not used this motherboard yet (Msi z97 gaming5) but I plan to build this system in the next week. I should do a video on building it though i will probably use 5 480s and 2 470s,,. still pondering that... power supply is something I am also pondering, maybe with 7 GPU's it is really better to run 2 power supplies to get more than enough 6 pin power connectors to run each GPU riser off of a separate PSU molex or sata cable... but 750W is not enough regardless... your going to be looking at MAYBE more or less a 1000W power supply if you are lucky and can undervolt all your cards successfully... I would recommend and it is probably safer to get 1200 or 1300W to have some extra wattage room and not run the PSU at near 100%. I am considering getting 2 650W or 2 750W PSUs and linking them together... or run them off of the 2000W leadex that I already have as it has 9 8pin connections.. so... if you went with a single PSU you would need 8 8pin PSU connections so that you could connect the 7 GPU's and the CPU.. the only PSUs that I have experience with that have that many 8pin connections are the AX corsair series and Leadex 1600 or 2000W PSUs... but you can look at others as I am sure some others also do... but you probably have to look at the higher end single PSUs have that, usually 1200W and up. even though GPUZ says 70W, the card will pull more total from the power supply... so dont use that number as your estimation. personally i cant get my 6 card 470 sapphire nitro rig less than about 800-850 watts with undervolting and I am using the boysie mod on them all, others may have more luck.
That being said, many people do have success with this board and it comes highly recommended for mining by many people and it seems to be the 3rd most used board for mining today (at least with EthOS)
If you come back in 1-2 weeks I should have some real life experience with this board and will be able to let you know exactly what I did to get it working.

some recommend against it, say you should have 2 in and flash the second one.. yet lots of people recommend only having one in the system so you dont screw up any others - ... I always only have one in my system... flashed cards maybe 50 times the last month and never had a problem, so I say flash it up
sorry my english, i saw one of your videos that the card you flashed has no cable coming out of it, so i thought that you have used another videocard for the screen, while you flash the one that is not hooked up, is that correckt? i mean i only have this card on my system anyway, so just wanted to be sure that i can flash it while i am using it!!
the nitro have the 8 pin power on the back of the card, so you just can't see it in the video but it is plugged in. I used the same video card that was powering the screen. If you are worried, try to use the command line to flash as there is less chance for it to freeze and crash.
Just make sure that Nothing else is running the GPU - no trixx, no miner, etc... screen powered by the GPU you are flashing should be ok. Bios is generally used when the OS is loading, you should be ok

I know this is one of your older videos but my question is relevant to this one. I did this before with one card and it worked perfectly. I got 2 more of the exact same card and same memory type and then flashed them 1 at a time while in the mobo by themselves. But now when I flash any of them I lose the capability of controlling them in MSI afterburner or Trixx. Any idea what would cause that?
no idea whats causing that, did you try to uninstall and resinstall afterburner?
Well figured out my bios issue sort of. Not sure why but there must have been an issue in the Display driver. After using DDU and then reinstalling the drivers everything is working fine now. I'm able to mod bios and then control them anyway I want. now to work on getting those voltages down I'll be good to go.

Hi This is very exciting but I run into a problem that no body looks like experience so far. I have 2 MSI RX470 Gaming X - After following the steps I got a "successful completion of the bios mod" restart windows and then, windows works but the graphic card is not recognized any more. GPUZ shows GPU Clock and memory 0, Pixel fill rate 0, Bandwidth 0.reinstalling drivers do not help. after flashing back to original everything is fine. I tired few times same result. After flashing no AMD GPU found. Any advice ?

Hello Crytomined, I made a mistake. Was making the modification in a rig with 2 Rx 470 and Strix Radeon R9 380. I changed the numbers the GPU and modified the R9 380. Dont you think putting your memory from 1750 to 2070 is going to destroy your card in long term ? that is too much overclock and you didnt change woltage at all

not so easily as with polaris bios editor, and I have no idea of the changes you would make exactly to make that card perfect. You would have to use a hex editor and do it manually. There are some guys who can create you a custom Bios, like Wolf, but they charge a lot of money

yup, played doom on them :) but you have dual bios switch on nitros, so you can just switch back to the OC setting to play also

ill unplug 4 cards from the 6 GPU rig and see what that runs from the wall in the morning without any extra undervolts, GPU's flashed with Boysies Modded Rom... (running ASRock Pro BTC Motherboard, 4 Gigs ram, G1840 CPU on the stock cooler and 2 Nitro 470 4g GPUs).. ill reply back as soon as I have the time to do that for you.

I have an MSI RX 470 Armor 8GB OC (Samsung memory) with Radeon driver version 16.300.2311.0. Will I need to do something to bypass a signature check if I mod the ROM? Or can I simply mod the strap timings, flash the ROM and reboot without any issues of the driver refusing to load due to the modded ROM?

i personally think its better to have extra headroom when it comes to a PSU, so id recommend the 1200G2 or 1200P2 EVGA even if your not going to use it all (or the 1300G2 or P2), others might say 1000W is enough, but its kinda tight with modded bios and without an undervolt and GPU downclock

Hello, I have a SAPPHIRE NITRO + Radeon ™ RX 470 4G D5 OC (Hynix), and I followed the steps in your BIOS Falsh guide. However, after doing so and running the miner's script, I throw an error saying that my GPU does not have enough memory. Additionally, the catalyst control center says that it can not be executed as there is no card connected. So I had to restore the BIOS.
I think it has to do with the driver, since I do not understand that it can be wrong. I am using the "AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.4" version. This is another problem that I have, only with this driver the ethermine recognizes the GPU, with any other it is not possible to do it.
Please, I ask for your urgent help. Thank you very much in advance.

Cryptomined, I'm not quite sure what you mean, because I'm new to this. But I have 8 GB of RAM, and if I run the miner with the default configuration of the card, I can mine without any problem. The issue is when I apply the flash to the bios.

you can flash cards connected through a riser, this has never been a problem for me... i flash most of my cards actually through a riser. I'm not sure why you had problems flashing through a riser.
you should not need the relive patch on those drivers... were you using 16.12 drivers? i have another video on 16.12 drivers and the patch if you check my video playlists

try to lower your Overclock, not all cards can go so high, some dont like going past 1900. let me know if that works... if its crashing, keep trying to lower the clock until it does not crash
I tried to use Trixx instead, which seems to work well. It hasn't crashed after using Trixx, running 2050. :)

My timing Mhz in Polaris Bios is 1601, 3242, 3653, 4022, 4556, 5049, 5582, 5787, 6074....... and not 1425, 1500, 1625, 1750, 2000.... whyyy??? what i make false?? pls help
That means your VRAM is Elpida and not Hynix. Do not try to flash that with this method. Cryptomined has an other video where he shows us how to flash Elpida VRAM cards.

Aleksandar Šalamon you should compare the timings with the 4g and 8g roms, and see what you can do. Im not sure but i have heard of others getting 4g with samsung - I assume they are really 8g cards but set to use only 4g, but again I do not know for sure. best you can do is try some mods yourself and compare with whats already out there.. if i had i could try myself but I dont

I think so, but so many people have asked about so many cards, and I remember some people having problems with MSI here and there, but also some people having success.. I really forget what everyone has said... the best thing to do is to check through these comments for anyone who asked the same question (about 480 4g cards) and see what they have said. (since I dont actually have these cards).. also check through the DIY 480 8g comments for anyone posting about the 480 4g cards.

Has anyone had any experience with RX 470 Nitro, NOT Nitro + OC version? How to safely flash that one since there s not option to switch to silent bios.
i have rx 470 4gb elpida red dragon power color 17.1.1 drvr, , i already overclock my croe clock to 1174, but after claymore creating and setting the DAG, its decrease to 850-900mhz, any one have the solution? :(

i have a video to upload on the best/most used socket 1150 motherboards for mining. I use h81 pro btc, b85 anniversary and a gigabyte board (though just 4 in that board). Id also recommend the biostar H81S2 as its as good as the Pro BTC in reality... and if you want 7 GPU take the MSI Z97 Gaming 5. those 4 boards + the H97 anniversary make up the 5 most popular and used 1150 motherboards for mining.

have not tried it myself. Probably good board for mining. 5 PCIE = 5 GPU. AMD processor. should be great.

im not sure what kind of memory they have, but you should be able to edit the bios to get better ethereum mining hashrates.

Yes, I have one Samsung 470 4g nitro, but I forget if i copied up the 1500 strap to 2000, or the 1750 strap to 2000. Try the 1750 -> 2000 first, and if that does not produce anything, try the 1500 -> 2000.
My card is the MSI brand. Does that make a difference?
it shouldnt, but again, i dont have that card, so I cant say for certain.

what drivers are you using? you have the Nitro card? or sapphire reference? try to use DDU to uninstall drivers and reinstall 16.10.1. which driver version do you have installed now?

I dont have one, but I have heard of people having success with copying the 1750 timing to the 2000 timing , but someone here said that did not work for them... you can try that though I can not guarantee it will work, you can report back after if you decide to try it.

yup and if you have an 8G 470 nitro, the memory should be samsung, just like the 480's. So if you do the same to the memory straps and then overclock the memory in Trixx, and downclock the GPU and undervolt from -50 to - 120 mV you should get similar results (29+ MH's at a good wattage)
Try copying the 1750 timing strap into the 2000 timing strap as I did in my first 480 video OR Try copying the 1750 timing strap into the 2000 and copy the 1625 timing into the 1750 timing strap. that should give you the same results.
If you want you can upload a bios and I can take a quick peak at it to see if the timings are the same as a 8g 480 and upload you some screen shots of what to change.

well there is no dual bios, no bios switch, but otherwise its a fine card with good fans.

Hi! I just built a 7 470 mining rig. I used Win10, Asus Strix 470 4bg cards and a MSI z97 gaming 5 motherboard and I cant get the GPUs to mine any faster than 25 mh/s after modding. I get this blue screen displaying the error: Thread_stuck_on_ device_ driver over and over. Can anyone help me?
did you change your bios settings like I did for mine? change pcie lanes to gen2, and change pcie configuration to 8x4x4x. if that does not work, maybe one of your cards does not like the modded bios. I have one card that will not accept the upped memomry timings and crashes upon use when modded, so I need to run it unmodded.

I just finished installing everything and I cant really say theres any improvement at all... Suddenly it stopped outputting any signal out of any card, and now I am operating the computer through teamviewer. I cant get past 25.4 mh/s and 1100 core clock and 1850 mem clock without getting the computer restarted. This really frustrated me, Ive got 7 more cards on the way and I expected them to run at almost 27-28 mh/s

Hi Laszlo, have you modified any other settings? undervolted extra? overclocked the memory in wattman or trixx? if your using trixx and having this issue, try to minimize those changes or stop using trixx...
if you still have those problems, flash back to original bios, I'm not sure why your card would totally reject the memory timings, but maybe something on the card doesnt like it? what is your ASIC value?
Did you change the TDP in the bios?

Thank you for your quick answer. No, I modified only what you too. Ofcourse, I am using the trixx and the 28Mhs not stable. The BIOS mod was right, but it is not the best hash rate / power setting, need the fine tuning. 27Mhs/100W is stable, but it is not the best setting.
The 28,3Mhs/75W available with watt tool, but the problem is the voltage offset, because this is not permanent value.
The ASIC value of the card is 75,3.
Ethereum has no value for the simple reason that there is no limits on the number that can be produced, Bitcoin has a limit of 21 million and is impossible to mine more than that.
The best crypto to buy now is IOTA, it as no transaction fees like bitcoin and ether and the transactions are fast because it is not based on the blockchain.
Want a good crypto to invest ? IOTA is the best for many reasons.
